This is now out under the guise of Antec core HS, it's exactly the same console but branded as Antec not ayaneo It's £550 for the console with 32gb of Ram 2tb of storage and it's bundled with a dock, case, screen protector and joystick cap set. I've just ordered one that's why I came here to look at the review
It's an awesome price, especially when you think that the GPD Win 4, with a weaker spec, is twice the price as this. Ebuyer sold out within a few days, but looks like stock is expected soon, as of typing this.
@DKTronics70 the white had sold out when I bought mine and the black was gone 20 minutes after purchase, not surprised at that price mind. Plus all the stuff in the bundle
Not gunna lie. I was very interested in this device before finishing this review. It really feels like a cool device to play on, but that it lacks quality in a number of areas that I don't think are acceptable for being as expensive as it is. Thank you for the review!
Yeah, never gonna buy this, it's bordering on or exceeding a grand. That's way too much to spend on this. But I do like watching him go through the specs and what you can do with it, because even if I don't want it, I do find it interesting.
It’s in my price range and I’m super interested but one thing making me apprehensive is that sliding mechanism. I still love the GPD Win 4 the fact it looks like the PSP helps a bit 😂
It's just too expensive. A handheld with an iGPU really just needs to cost half of this. This class of device is new so I get the price premium. When I saw a steamdeck on sale refurbished for under $300 I felt like the value was within reason.
The 64GB+4TB version seems damn nice though, especially for that size compared to the Steam Deck. Though that maxed out version costs $1300, that's enough to buy a really beefy 4K GPU.
This is one Ayaneo device I am kind of interested in in the future but only after a heavy discount. Both for the comfort of the keyboard and also because the screen position might improve ergonomics.
The problem with these handhelds is that the company just keep releasing them until they get a 'hit' like the Steam Deck or ROG. But the problem is, they will never get that because most people dont trust a company that doesnt stick by a console. Even Valve knew this, by confirming they wont be releasing a Steam Deck 2 for at least a year or so, because you need to get peoples trust that you can actually support a product before moving onto the next.
When it comes to niche PC companies I kind of trust Ayn more than Ayaneo. They have a legit site, not THAT many models (their lineup is reasonable with budget, mid tier and pro versions) and they adjust the price of their handhelds, I heard some models come with issues but they seem to be good with customer service. AND their prices aren’t as outrageous as Ayaneo’s as well. They had a blunder with shipping times sure but well I had to wait for my first Steam Deck for over a year too. And I just find it weird that Ayaneo’s main website doesn’t work for everyone - I can access only their shopify that has only a handful of their products with massive discounts but apparently it’s legit?
Pretty sure it's not about getting a hit but instead something something about them needing the sell the next console to build the current one, always playing catchup.

7:54 FINALLY, someone talked about that! I hate when these buttons are positioned right above the right analog. Same reason why I sent back my Backbone controller.
With the Win4 it's almost the same. I think the real difference lies in the angle of the sides, you hold your hands differently. The case should have been a little bit more gamepad like.
Out of all the Aya products I have seen Russ and others review, this is the one that I would honestly consider getting. I’m loving the form factor and the ips screen is more than enough.
I’m waiting til he reviews the Flip KB, Clamshell design is my top tier due to the protection that is offered, though the Flip looks like it may be a little chunky for true pocketable carry.
shame how those physical keyboard/buttons phones just faded out. theres something special about actually touching buttons rather than a screen where u can make typos so quickly/easily
The ability to angle the screen is definitely a huge plus (the main reason the GPD Win 3 just isn't comfortable for me to use is that the controller and screen are at the same angle), but I'm still glad I chose the GPD Win Mini. It's a bit large, but I can fit it in the inner pocket of three different jackets *with* the grips on, so it's pocketable enough for me.
I think it's the clamshell design that makes the Mini more pocketable, with these slide handhelds the screen and sticks are still exposed and I always want to keep them in a protective case which of course makes them a lot bigger.
@@massivepileup I wouldn't put the Win Mini in a *pants* pocket (especially with grips attached), only an inner jacket pocket or hoodie pouch, but yeah, and in addition to protecting the screen and encasing the sticks, the clamshell design allows for the width of the screen to be just about the width of the whole device. With a slide-out design (much like with a PSP/GBA style design), screen size has to be sacrificed to make room for controls unless the controls are hidden under the sliding part...which seems pretty pointless, since you might as well just put a hinge on it at that point and have built-in screen protection and fully adjustable viewing angle. Having owned the Win 3 for a while, I have concluded that the slide-out design is completely pointless. I don't know why they didn't just put a hinge on it. I'm glad they went back to the hinge for the Win Mini, because it's better in every single way I can think of. And I don't know why Ayaneo is jumping on the slide wagon. I respect that they added an angle adjustment feature, but they might as well have just made it clamshell. I don't know what the reasoning is behind going with an obviously inferior design. It's just exposing the screen and sticks for no reason at this point. I understand putting controls on the sides when there isn't a keyboard, especially with cheaper, lightweight devices. Once you add the keyboard and the weight of PC guts, you might as well go clamshell. It's just better for so many reasons.
@massivepileup i can pocket it in my big jeans but the clamshell is definitely more pocketable imma get a clamshell instead with a second screen it looks like a DS
I really do not understand the "these companies release 5 handhelds per microsecond" complaints on every single review of anything but the Deck/Ally/Legion Go. Ayaneo, GPD, OneXPlayer/OneNetbook, etc. have been at this for YEARS before more western-reachable tech entered the market. It is obvious Valve wants to keep the Deck and the OLEDeck alive as much as possible, and that is a valid business strategy; these other companies do not follow that methodology and yet it still works for them. Is a matter of launching as many diverse devices as possible until that lineup is pretty much set and always appeal to the same market demographic, which in this case is mostly Asia. I am not going to say that the Deck is bad by any means of the imagination, in fact both are excellent, but those are products for another demographic and, yes, these 5 handhelds per microsecond companies actually sell these devices. Not to mention that Valve, Asus and Lenovo do a terrible job at reaching less populated markets. Must admit that getting the Slide before the Flip KB or Flip DS is a bit of a shame but it looks like quite a nice device nonetheless. Keep it up Russ, thanks for the review!
I have this first world problem Russ. On devices that I don't particularly have an interest in buying, I wish the videos were short and sweet. But the devices that I might actually buy, I wish the videos were twice as long! Thanks for the video.
This was reassuring for someone like me, on the verge of having FOMO. I still love my GPD Win 4 6800U. I just have to find more time to enjoy all these handhelds 😅
Found a fellow Win 4 6800U appreciator Edit: I did however put in an order for the Slide, if only because I sometimes use these handheld PCs to render videos concurrently
I want more companies to go for the clamshell style. I’m still using my GPD Win 2 and I love its small size. However it’s getting a bit long in the tooth. I’m interested in the Win Mini however since I have a Steam Deck I can’t really justify the price. I wish GPD would make a cheaper lower spec version of the Mini with a cpu like an AMD Athlon or even an Intel N100. Both of those cpus would destroy the old M3 in the GPD Win 2.
The control issues are certainly strange - it can't be the game getting confused because there is a controller and a keyboard at the same time because I am not in the habit of unplugging the keyboard of my desktop whenever I want to use a controller. This is something they messed up specifically with this device, not a standard game or windows issue.
On Android, some older games/code/game engines have a bug where any attached keyboards are automatically assigned as "Controller 1" and the main controller as "Controller 2". This then means said games won't support the second controller and thus any controllers.
Not to mention other devices have been okay with kind of form factor (physical keyboard and controller). Gpd has a physical switch to change between the two control methods and even have a track pad that works in either mode. Aya just needs to step up their game.
I use FX Sound on my PC, it can do amazing things as far as equalizer functions. It totally makes my Creative Labs speakers sound correctly. OOB, they sound like all mids, with the app, you can actually hear the tweeters and low end.
I hope these handheld manufacturers invest in better battery technology and hopefully push battery life to double or even more in the next few years. Also I really hope that with so much competition around that prices will start to drop a bit or even drop significantly. Holds my breath!
They cannot, the technology is at a dead corner density wise. However, solid state batteries should be released within the next 1-5 years. Depending on how many stable layers they can implement, the energy density will be between 1.5-5x times the density we have now, with the upside of it not degrading due those batteries not using a solvent for the lithium crystals. In other words, within 5 years we should see electronics doubling the use time. If not better (they could do better but it would not be economical)
I had considered trading out my GPD Win 4 for this, but honestly, it sounds like a lot of the issues that you had with this (no mouse nub, JoyCon joysticks, gamepad/keyboard recognition, heat) aren't nearly as big of an issue on the Win. So I guess I'll stick with it and recommend it as an alternative.
My first smartphone was a Sidekick and I loved it. Far prefer a physical keyboard to on-screen, plus the better viewing angle. Sadly, I am a poor gamer and will never be able to afford something nice like these handhelds.
If Valve made the Steam deck still have the trackpads and have a sliding screen with physical keyboard it would be so much better for a multi-purpose computer. Physical keyboard without trackpads is silly.
I'm glad they're making more of these slide style handhelds but they need to nail the controls. The GPDWIN4 is still much better to use thanks to the optical track pad / button it has which makes it easy to use mouse based games on it. And really, trackpads would be better. The sooner everyone just straight copies the Steam Deck controls, the better.
GPD Win 4 Owner here - missing the mouse nub is a massive oversight and definitely renders the keyboard kinda useless as you explained. I already mishit the top row of buttons with the screen slid up, adding more up there seems like a bad move. Finally I think they whiffed on the screen implementation. Not being flush seems like the wrong choice, and it slides too high up. I get it allows for the angling but that's probably why it felt so flimsy. The gpd win 4 screen only extends roughly 40% above the device, but this is closer to 66-70%. I think they should keep iterating but I wouldn't trade in my win 4 for this. Great video!
While they keep releasing new units, it would be great if they make the battery pack more charge so i can game longer before reaching out for the powerbank
Was kind of interested in this due to the Win 4s laggy screen, but the dpad is such a miss. I don't know why handheld PCs have gotten to such an optimized state and they are still whiffing on the dpads half the time.
Coming out significantly after the Win 4, I don't get why they didn't make it a 7 inch screen to give it a feature that stands out. Their entire market is just Aya loyalists who already have a thousand different options for their devices as everyone else already has the Win.
Pretty dope looking.. only set back is the price. Cost you an arm and a leg for that extra unique slide and keyboard feature. This is definitely something I'll spend money on if i had some lying around.
These days buy a rog ally or steam deck oled. I funded the first gpd win on principal and was blown away i could play dark souls 2, ori, and dmc on it. It was $300. These weird chinese devices are redundant now that established companies are making cheap mass produced devices.
We need consoles exactly like this but with detachable controllers and keyboards. Someone should make a standardize connector for the keyboard and controllers that's free to use so we can have market competition.
Apart from the price being way above what I could afford the springs being exposed on the screen gives me concern that they'll break, get damaged to easily or be a magnet for dirt/bag fluff. Even a thin plastic/vinyl cover could have avoided the latter.
in my country this console is sold on the secondary market for 32k ₽ ($371) does it make sense to buy it, or take SteamDeck OLED for about the same price?
The Win Mini's mouse/controller toggle, like the one on previous GPD machines, doesn't disable the keyboard (or the touch pad). It just disables the controller when set to mouse mode. Disabling the keyboard makes no sense anyway, any desktop or laptop PC is going to have a keyboard connected while you play games on a controller. Games may switch to keyboard and mouse mode when you press a key or click and some don't accept it if the controller is plugged in after the game has started but the presence of a keyboard should never interfere with anything. Whatever is happening with Witcher and GoW must be something else.
Can you test/check how the controls work in steam big picture mode for all future x64 handheld? Has a air plus (mendo) and its really irritating there is no equivalent of xbox guide/steam menu button when in Big Picture mode. Can't seem to find any software/mapping alternative either, the inbuilt aya software can only s do win+G which is different.
the battery life seems extremely underwhelming. Also what's up with the 12W for Wind Waker HD. I play it on my SD and it takes just 5W and give me a bit more than 4hrs of battery life. This one even with Celeste gives under 4, while the SD would even reach 6hrs.
Hey, I'm just here to support your channel. Cause I like your content, but no one who cares about how they spend their money will pay the price that this company's is asking for. This asking price is absurd.
do you think the sticks on the rp4 and ayn odin 2 would fix all your issues with these switch style joysticks? I'm wondering how good they are, especially for FPS games
This thing seems super fun for indie game development. Like this is the perfect device for playing around in pico8 or RPGMaker. Maybe if uh, they had a 4GB ram model and more economic CPU to get it under $350... This entire comment section is "cool, but I'm too broke for this" and I am also a part of this comment section
High-end handhelds are just very niche products. I love the idea of the "perfect" handheld, but unless you're rich and have a shitload of money to blow, you aren't going to be getting handhelds like this but once in your lifetime. Honestly, unless you *really* need the portability, most people are better off just getting a regular PC and finding a streaming option. Way more affordable and similar results.
@Lucifronz This has been the problem I'm having. I want something joyful and novel, almost a sketchpad for design to take around. But it's hard to justify something like this or building a cyberdeck when I can get a refurbished thinkbook for less than $200.

Aya just needs to step up their game.
looks SO GOOD in black!!!
I NEED ITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT😫
I use FX Sound on my PC, it can do amazing things as far as equalizer functions. It totally makes my Creative Labs speakers sound correctly. OOB, they sound like all mids, with the app, you can actually hear the tweeters and low end.
Yeah it's a great program, helped a lot with the low max volume on the last laptop I owned too
I hope these handheld manufacturers invest in better battery technology and hopefully push battery life to double or even more in the next few years.
If not better (they could do better but it would not be economical)
if we get decent battery life in a pc handheld imagine what we'll be getting in something like the odin 2, days of battery maybe?
I love that tactile sliding screen sound.
So clean I’d love to put some hours into this
Great review, so much care
Best looking handheld
I had considered trading out my GPD Win 4 for this, but honestly, it sounds like a lot of the issues that you had with this (no mouse nub, JoyCon joysticks, gamepad/keyboard recognition, heat) aren't nearly as big of an issue on the Win. So I guess I'll stick with it and recommend it as an alternative.
Can’t wait for mine 😊 I been using the ayaneo 2021 still and it’s holding up great still but I been waiting forever for this device.
My first smartphone was a Sidekick and I loved it. Far prefer a physical keyboard to on-screen, plus the better viewing angle. Sadly, I am a poor gamer and will never be able to afford something nice like these handhelds.
Excellent. Now the Aya Neo dual screen 🎉
Good to know. If I ever plan to take a trip to Antarctica, I'll have to buy this so I get the adapters to run everything else.
If Valve made the Steam deck still have the trackpads and have a sliding screen with physical keyboard it would be so much better for a multi-purpose computer. Physical keyboard without trackpads is silly.
Who else is excited for new handhelds in 2024 ??? 🔥🔥 All thanks to this channel
When I grow up I wanna be a D-Pad engineer!
"The coolest screen I've ever seen on a device so far" - Retro Game Corey on the Ayaneo Slide, 2024
Are you the OG 6800U appreciator or the newer version user?
While they keep releasing new units, it would be great if they make the battery pack more charge so i can game longer before reaching out for the powerbank
I suggest you to test the d-pad with more récent fighting games for half-circles dashes etc (like ggxx accent core or ps2 king of fighters 11)
Why oh why oh why do they go LCD generic over a decent AMOLED panel?
See yaaa
Where can you get a decent 6" 16:9 OLED display?
I would love to an office tour! I realy wonder how you store all of these devices 🤔
Interesting idea here, thanks for the review sir! ✌Stubbs
This just makes me want the Sidekick phone to make a comeback
love the reviews, retro corp. was curiuos, what are your favorite handheld pcs overall for your categories? idk lol
The ayaneo flip DS is the one i am Extremely looking forward to.
Was kind of interested in this due to the Win 4s laggy screen, but the dpad is such a miss. I don't know why handheld PCs have gotten to such an optimized state and they are still whiffing on the dpads half the time.
The sliding mechanism reminds me of old HTC slide out keyboard phones
Htc desire z had so many problems with the hinges . Had 3 and all had to be repaired at some point
i'm still waiting for the Ayaneo Flip DS
i love that kind of form factor
I like the sliding keyboard reminds me of the older days when i owned phones with like that.
This is a cool device! I like the slide accessory too! Awesome review!
Your videos are always so well made. I'm glad I subscribed.
that floating screen looks like pocket lint nightmare, imagine trying keep the grime and dust out of that open design.
Antec version of this device can be had for around £430 now. Wonder if it's still worth it?
Does this one get os hot it nukes the screen? Did the company tell you to not mention any of the bad bits in their email?
Apart from the price being way above what I could afford the springs being exposed on the screen gives me concern that they'll break, get damaged to easily or be a magnet for dirt/bag fluff. Even a thin plastic/vinyl cover could have avoided the latter.
would love to hear your thoughts on the Anyeo flip DS
It would be cool if you could hit a button like a switchblade.
Definitely love this design above all others to date.
@18:40 You should of inserted the "NOICE" meme somewhere around here, lol
No cartridge on screen for switch games show case? Hopefully you do not get copyright strikes
in my country this console is sold on the secondary market for 32k ₽ ($371)
does it make sense to buy it, or take SteamDeck OLED for about the same price?
when is the full gpd win mini review?
i love your videos man, always to the point and your quality is amazing
This but 7in and with the next gen amd in a few yrs, will be the one for me. Sticking with ayaneo geek 6800 for now
that throwaway Antarctica comment Russ cmon man
It’s not an AYANEO review without me making at least one Antarctica reference 😎
Hey are going to review the E6 handheld 😮?
Antec selling a rebadged one of these starting at 499, at that price it doesn’t sound like a bad deal
Man this reminds me of the TMobile side kick! Oh how I miss that device
As always great review Russ!!
Like if you're old enough to know about the sidekick
Can you test/check how the controls work in steam big picture mode for all future x64 handheld?
Has a air plus (mendo) and its really irritating there is no equivalent of xbox guide/steam menu button when in Big Picture mode.
Can't seem to find any software/mapping alternative either, the inbuilt aya software can only s
do win+G which is different.
Should I get this or the Odin 2?
Max I’ll buy is $499, probably going to wait until those handheld drop to that price range. Or just use that money to buy steam deck 2 in future.
Handheld😍
the battery life seems extremely underwhelming. Also what's up with the 12W for Wind Waker HD. I play it on my SD and it takes just 5W and give me a bit more than 4hrs of battery life. This one even with Celeste gives under 4, while the SD would even reach 6hrs.
does it have a menu option to choose between control / mouse, like on the ally?
Hey, I'm just here to support your channel. Cause I like your content, but no one who cares about how they spend their money will pay the price that this company's is asking for. This asking price is absurd.
do you think the sticks on the rp4 and ayn odin 2 would fix all your issues with these switch style joysticks? I'm wondering how good they are, especially for FPS games
Getting some OG Droid vibes from that keyboard.
I recalled ouya and thought that company continue working on consoles. but, lol, Uhrman is now president of football club XD
14:58 thats what she said...
Anyone have a long term review on this one? Curious about durability
Would you consider doing a 6 months later for the Loki max?
Can you run Adobe Premier Pro on this system just for super simple editing?
Been following you for a while and I like your videos. I got the Miyoo mini plus with onion OS, but I would like to get something more powerful. I want it to be able to play N64 and PS2. I love playing Conker, Ratchet, Jak and more. Does not need to be perfect. So my question is this. Which one would you recommend for N64 and PS2?
and yes - you missed another part NO PHONE JACK INPUT! did you miss is deliberately again? Run from this man reviews! NOW!
