you are the best!! i followed all the steps and it looks incredible! you are very informative and clear. thank you so much for all the work you put into this :)
GREAT tutorial on halftoning. My question is how to make the halftone round dots into other shapes...preferrably like diamonds or squares? How do you achieve this please? :) Thanks!
hey jason! great tutorial! I stumbled to this video because i am looking for the best way to create shadows for a design that will be screen printed, do you have any advice on this? thanks a lot!
I would follow the shadow and color tutorial pretty closely in the same series. I would color with live paint to get your color separation for fills. Then use a line/segment/pen tool for more control

hi Jason. your tutorials are just too good. but why are they shortened. this tutorial is just 2.50min where as i observed in the comments mentioning 7.46min. the beginning of the tut is missing maybe also something in middle too. even your earlier tutorial is halfway. pls share the link to the full tutorial.
Hi. Thanks for the video but after 7:46 your tutorial is missing the part in which you adding the radial gradient to the background and drop shadow to the offset path ;)
That is true: 1. Add a Radial Gradient to Background Rectangle. Place Highlight where Light Source would be using Gradient Tool. 2. Select offset path- Effect - Stylize - Drop Shadow (Easy Version) (I Copied the Offset Path- Pasted in Back- moved shape down to the right- Copy Offset Path/Paste in Front- Keep Selected Hold Shift to grab background shape- Minus Front)
I don't know what I am doing wrong. I've gone over it various times, following each step to add the halftones but every time, after expanding the effect, I can't change the color of the dots. It changes the color of the entire selection (like the square when its traced). It also figures as it is still mixed appearances with a (?) when selected. Help please?
If you are getting a colored square? The live trace on older versions doesn’t like ignore white- so select the halftone- ungroup- then you can delete the background square. You will now just have the halftone dots. Select and color. Use magic wand if it is only selecting one dot
Your information on how to use and apply halftones is very useful.
Thank you Jason 👍
Glad it was helpful Michael.
