  • Flagtail Prochilodus Fish Aquarium Care is fairly simple. Tank Mates are fairly wide open because these fish don’t get very aggressive but they do grow large. I would feed them these pellets until they get super big.

Flagtails are great in keeping your tank free from algae, they do a better job than pleco. And it looks cool too, love it 👍

I have always loved these fish. Nice personality. Unfortunately, my tanks aren't big enough to accommodate. Someday!

I have a 4-5" in my 80 gallon and it can be extremely docile but also agile & skittish as hell. Totally random. Sometimes I'll go up to the tank and it will put its face up to the glass to meet me, then it'll continue grazing, and other times it will get freaked, swim away and smash into side glass. Its colors also go from pale to vibrant pretty often. Water parameters have been as stable as day one. Eats and poos like crazy. Interesting-ass fish to say the least!

Somewhat true with mine except not so skittish but is an absolute shitting machine💪😂

@@jed1493 My flagtail is about 6" now and, while it's calmed down a whole lot & isn't skittish, it is super-aggressive towards my 6" jurupari every so often. They were attached at the hip when they were smaller. They still chill, but every so often the flagtail will ram its head into the jurupari and chase it off. Still a shit machine, tho

Good video. I'm putting together a 180Gal. tank with 2 Oscars, 1 Rokteil and a FlagTail. I'm using the Flagtail as the dither fish lesson timidity and aggression as well as to promote normal social behavior in my tank.

Can you keep flagtails with tiger Barb's? That would be a cool tank school of Barb and a centerpiece flagtails???

These are cool looking fish but they're "not" as peaceful as many people think. They can get aggressive and will hold their own against cichlids including Oscars. They will also pick on smaller fish and they're messy as they crap all over the place.
