In most cases, bands aren't full of evil people looking to screw over their frontman "for the lulz", and as we can see from all the hate they are receiving, it's unlikely that TAIM made this decision lightly. They knew they'd receive a metric ton of shit for it, and yet chose to fire him anyway. That, to me, means they had good reason to do so. Otherwise, all this drama and backlash wouldn't be worth the trouble and they would've just kept him on. You guys can turn this into a rhetoric if you want, "ERMERGHERD, THY ART WENT WOKE. GO WOKE GO BROKE, HUR DUR DUR DUR", but it is the band's right to act in their best interest. CJ went political, and that's never a good look for a business. And the music industry is a business. There's no room for sentimentality or any of that shit, they need to act accordingly when their frontman starts encouraging hate and trying to hold the entire band hostage, which is my current understanding of his wrongs. This band is ruined for me. It just is. I would listen to the live concerts, and hear CJ say that he needs a ciggy or some shit like that, and he really was the character of this band. I grew a bond with CJ's presence, and now this band is just not the same. It does not feel like the cool Australian deathcore band anymore. The live concert recordings used to keep me going during late nights studying for my engineering degree, and now those same recordings just feel weird. In the same way that you want us to accept that we don't know what happened behind closed doors, you need to accept that CJ was the face of your band, and we can't deny the empty feeling that has been created. RIP.

Been following since the humble beginnings and remember you lads rocking up with your old singer in a van for a gig in Sydney on the infinite death tour. Bright eyed and bushy tailed. Great to see the road laid out for you guys and you made it a hell of a journey. But now you will always be remembered as that band that did this thing. As a nearly 40 year old who’s followed you for a very long time, nearly 20 years, purchasing physical copies of every album, and shirts/jumpers, you guys lost a lot of credit for the handling of stuff in the past year. I unfortunately can’t shake the view. You will always be known, even years after the whole musical journey, you will be remembered as label dogs, and the way we as Aussies mean dogs. But who am I? I’m a no one. Same with slipknot and the way they’ve handled things. I understand we get older. I understand the uncertainty of the world also. I understand musical maturity as a producer and multi instrumentalist and growing through years of mastering your craft and creative endeavours. But one of the brothers that helped build what you are is no longer a brother. On a stage where many eyes watch, it’s impossible to win. But nevertheless, we’re all capable of sifting information ourselves, especially with computers in our hands 24/7. And the summary of info unfortunately puts you in a very distrusting and fake position. What the band forgets is CJ was a big part of the sound. Dont get me wrong the new vocalist is very good but Thy Art has now lost the soul sound from the band. To me it's a new band not Thy Art.

Therefore, TAIM decided that CJ MacMahon was a very problematic person because he raised the idea that it wasn't worth harassing children under the age of 3 with a-scientific and purely cultural notions of gender. The gendered accoutrements of patriarchal capitalism should, from now on, be the absolute reference for calibrating one's identity.
And everyone has to agree with this, otherwise you become a "very problematic" person according to the arbiters of truth. A trashy comment that at no point calls for actually offending the lady in the video, in a sea of feminist rhetoric from CJ, a band that doesn't even warn its singer and lets him discover his limeogage on the very day of the album's release.
It's not transphobia to bother children with notions that have nothing to do with universality. It's amazing, how that way of acting can give the impression, even to people on the left, that wokism is lite fascism.

I don’t think you’re woke. Silly yes. New stuff is cool - nothing stands out. Been following since the humble beginnings and remember you lads rocking up with your old singer in a van for a gig in Sydney on the infinite death tour. Bright eyed and bushy tailed. Great to see the road laid out for you guys and you made it a hell of a journey. But now you will always be remembered as that band that did this thing. As a nearly 40 year old who’s followed you for a very long time, nearly 20 years, purchasing physical copies of every album, and shirts/jumpers, you guys lost a lot of credit for the handling of stuff in the past year. I unfortunately can’t shake the view. You will always be known, even years after the whole musical journey, you will be remembered as label dogs, and the way we as Aussies mean dogs. But who am I? I’m a no one.
Same with slipknot and the way they’ve handled things. I understand we get older. I understand the uncertainty of the world also. I understand musical maturity as a producer and multi instrumentalist and growing through years of mastering your craft and creative endeavours. But one of the brothers that helped build what you are is no longer a brother. On a stage where many eyes watch, it’s impossible to win. But nevertheless, we’re all capable of sifting information ourselves, especially with computers in our hands 24/7. And the summary of info unfortunately puts you in a very distrusting and fake position. Glad we have an export like you as a band, but the days of following stopped when you partook in the circus stage nonsense. All the best. I won’t be purchasing this album or another thread of merch.

Metal has been against bigotry, homophobia, transphobia and racism for a long time. None of those things belong in metal. Its been about defending the conservative life style if anything.
Metal is about family and community. Yes the lyrics are 9/10 times harsh and full of violent words and phrases. But it has ALWAYS, been about community. We pick each other up when we fall, we don't look at the surface but the heart and soul. I don't care what's between your legs or on your chest, what your skin color is or what god you follow or don't follow. I only care that you respect me and that I return that respect and we can vibe out to some sick music.

"your greatest asset" - what? He was a charismatic vocalist, but that was it. He didn't write music or lyrics and his live performances were always very hit or miss. And the metal community has always been very inclusive, so yes, I think they actually care about that sort of thing.

They wrote anti-religion songs, a song called "Make America Hate Again", pro-environment songs, songs against racism, against homophobia, and so on.
