When Prince died, I fell into a month long depression. My heart broke as if I knew him. I took off work for three weeks, at which time I did nothing but watch everything I could find of him: performing live, interviews, his videos, his movies, listened to every song he ever released, just anything and everything I could find of him, and I’d just weep uncontrollably. I still tear up a little when his name comes up.
And I struggled to find the reasons WHY I was reacting that way, as if a family member had passed. And the closest I came to a reason was: he was the Mozart of our times. He was a once in a millennia kind of artist. He was a unicorn. He was the soundtrack of our lives. Our Elvis, although IMO, he was the more extraordinary artist between the two. The rarest of creatures, Prince’s death was literally the extinction of his kind, as he was only ever 1 of 1. And when he passed I realized, knew and know, that we will NEVER see his like again in our lifetimes. It was like he was actually God touched, almost to the point where he was elevated above us mere mortals, and was nearly non human. A voice from the heavens themselves with an otherworldly range, musicianship in the stratosphere all self taught mastering 27 instruments in his relatively short life, the incredible, timeless albums and music he gave us; and his ability to hold an audience spellbound? There will NEVER be another performer like him. One of the few artists that sounded even better live than on a recording. Wearing his make up and heals, all his perfect dance moves, dressed and draped in swag, prettier than most girls, but dripping with hetero sexuality and hotter than Dubai in summer, he was otherworldly on stage AND anytime he was in front of a camera; even in sit down interviews, he’d hold one spellbound.
And for someone like that, someone so ultra rare, so special, so singularly one in a trillion, to die in such a preventable and needless way, a brilliant life cut short by such a tragic, sorrowful misfortune , dying alone in an elevator, it was just too much to bare. My purple 💜 broke into a million pieces. And that’s as close as I can get to the reasons I mourned him so deeply.
I mourn the loss of him still, knowing he was truly one of a kind. Ok I wrote too much and I’m tearing up now. Gotta go…….and listen to When Doves Cry. 😩

I was at his mansion soon after he died standing in front of the new wall they constructed around the elevator. I felt his energy touch my left shoulder and then top of my head. I agree. Prince was too smart to take pills that were obtained off the street from a drug dealer. I think Prince probably needed some pills for hip pain, so why wouldn’t he go to a doctor and pharmacy for them, so he’d be sure of what he was getting? He certainly had the money and the clout. This really doesn’t make sense to me, either. Prince was so cautious and intelligent. He was not into recreational drugs, was a vegan, barely drank, and never smoked.

After many years I allowed myself to see this and I'm quite saddened because Prince had many homes inside and outside of Minneapolis the office setting of that building and the decorum design is colorful but not necessarily home like.. he had villas in France Turks and Caicos.. property everywhere but he treated Paisley Park more like an office/entertainment center nevertheless he was home alone and he was afraid of elevators I don't think we'll ever get to the bottom of it
