It’s the coast of Florida, this wasn’t the first nor the last storm. Might want to start building things on stilts or their homes farther inland. This will happen again and again and again. Ive lived in Naples, FL for 20 years, all will be well.

Hi Caribbean Castaways! First of all you make amazing videos and this one in particular, very informative! My name is Camila and I'm from the Chilean-Argentinian news agency LANA. We are doing a report about the Hurricane Debby in Florida and we want to ask you if we can use a few seconds of your video (with the correct credit/source of Caribbean Castaways as appropriate, and a link to your channel). Thanks in advance!! All my best!

In 2015,2016 my wife and I were actively looking to possibly purchase a property in the Naples area, since we vacationed there each year for 2 months, March and November. The best things that you do in life are the things that you do not do. Since we were looking, there was a catastrophic hurricane, tropical storms severe flooding. We have friends and acquaintances whose properties were severely damaged or destroyed by these weather occurrences. We continue to vacation there twice a year, stress and worry free when a storm impacts the area.

"The best things in life are the things you don't do?" Not sure I agree. Best decision I ever made ever made was to move here 23 years ago. It's paradise. Every place e has some sort or bad weather natural disaster issue.

all seems fairly normal for a storm passing in the gulf. I do miss going to bills for hurricane tacos in the tender.

Make sure to keep rebuilding on FMB, when the next Cat 5 comes just rebuild again, and repeat, cuz why not we’re invincible humans who own every piece of land.

My question is, do people in California watch hurricane videos as much as people in Florida watch wildfire videos in California?

I know it’s incredible to think building on barrier island in the tropics there would be tropical storms and there would be things like storm surge and flooding….

  • @michellephillips7279

I heard that there are currently no dunes or barriers to protect from future surges. Can new barriers be built?

We live there, and you are right. No dunes. The beach is very flat. Just wish that when they rebuild they would do it differently like with stilts. The area still hadn’t recovered from Ian two years ago. Don’t understand why not as other areas recover from hurricanes faster than us. It’s sad.

Unsure about all the new sand berms they added. Will have to see.
