Hey Apollo, Í'm really enjoying these online battles. Want to do one for maybe Elder Scrolls, or Westeros Total War? Those mods are great and don't get much love.
What a goddamn fight this was. It was so close, and the little breakouts we did made me clench my cheeks like crazy. I LOVE battles like this, no joke. Our coordination, ferocity, and synergy as a team really shows in this one. I had so much fun not only holding the line with you - but pushing the Romans *back*. It was a good battle!
Hello Mr. Brunswick
@@Cosmicio Hello!
Well done. I love the legions but whoever played them didnt do it as well, but. Hey lessons learned
Right

"I've saved a lot of lives by killing these archers."
X to doubt
Thomas Du why?
Pixelated Apollo Well, the archers kinda died, so you obviously didn't save their lives...

I'M SO HYPED FOR THIS VIDEO AND THE FUTURE ONES.U AND I ARE LITERALLY ON 🔥🔥🔥🔥
.dude thanks for doing
And u inspired me to play total war games.
I'm just a 13 year old fanboy
War dogs are severely underestimated units, and I would personally like to see them used in a more tactically sound way and with the respect they command. The Romans and Celts never left home without their dogs, and there's good reason why.
I had a game with war dogs that netted me 200 kills simply because of the Skirmishers they got ahold of. They're so helpful for routing light troops. Totally underestimated
Roman soldiers generally had two pillums with them, a light and heavier version. The light pilla was used for a more medium range from about 50 feet (if I remember correctly) and the purpose was to harras and kinda slow down the advance of the enemy. The heavier pilla was used in a closer range of about 30 feet and had a devastating impact force to stop the enemy charge because even if you didn't kill them you most definitely pierced their shield which rendered it useless as you said, if we leave the impact which probably would push you back aside.
Hi Apollo!
Just wanted to note that according to historian Adrian Goldsworhty, the roman throwing projectile, pilum, was not meant to bend when hitting its target. But then, there is one description which says the following: "one of the two iron nails that held the iron shaft in place was replaced with a weak wooden pin that would break on impact causing the shaft to twist sideways." the source is by Plutarch.
Some say its so they can't throw it back. Others say it was to render shields useless. And a few say it was never supposed to break at all.
"This weapon was intended first and foremost to kill or wound, punching through an enemy's shield and armour(...)"
This is something I found on "The complete roman army". Although there's more information on it scattered around the book. Judging by this statement, the pilum wasn't meant to break at all, but it probably happened often considering the odds.
i think the bending vs breaking question is really of no consequence. Either way there is a giant shaft of wood and steel impaling you or ruining your shield. There was no recourse but to throw the shields down because the heavy infantry charge was surely inbound if there was a pila volley.
“They think they can destroy our way of LIFE” 😂😂😂
Love these types of sieges it just so damn Good even better when apollo is playing
You 4 should play more battles together! You guys have the aggression and tactics to make battles really interesting.
21:49 its over romans i have the high ground😂
Great battle apollo and i would love to see the actual battle not the replay so people can see how you micro your troops and stuff .I know there wouldnt be a lot of commentary but i would still be awesome
He streams live on his facebook just about every day at 5pm EST!
Happy Thanksgiving, Apollo!
The ambushes had 320 total troops. Before the picked hoplites charged in,they had only taken 1 or 2 losses
Love total war Rome 2 keep it up Apollo 😎
"I'll be leading one of the defending Roman forces" lol also great vid apollo
Absolutely great work with the background music, Apollo :) Love it!

I LOVE this reappearance of Rome 2 in your feed, Apollo! Keep'em coming!
Brunswick was your inspiring leader in this battle. His immersion plus yours PA, pulled me in. "My noble swords will beat any Roman they throw." As the horde of rome kept beating you guys back. Epic, entertaining and great quality plays and players

Please keep making these videos! I love your Total War Rome 2 siege battles
Just wanted to let you know that this is not the first battle I actually got myself snacks. I never do that for other youtubers, mainly because they don’t tell me to. Love the commentary as always, thanks for the great video!
These Rome 2 battles are really good Apollo, love you bro
Fun fact about war dogs , everyone in a legion/ camp would feed the dogs so they get close to them and would sleep with them , they were able to listen to commands as well
It only feels like last week was last Thanksgiving. I can remember the last Thanksgiving Special as clear as day.
This siege is so awesome pls give me more!!!!!!!
Pixies back at it again
great vid bro kept me watching for sure
Apollo the Indagator - A god to his people, a malicious warrior to the enemy. The master of the lance, his knights trust him to lead. Though noble he is, he won't stop till death, so all must be brave or bow to your new maiestas.
Brunswick the Ruthless- A chief above lords, a man willing to hold, even if Thor was to imponeret. A man of honor, he rather fight head first than hide behind his banner. So even Rome will think twice, for he is no fero, he is the chieftain of quod fortem.
Nico the Bastille - Young and weak, Athens said this then lost three thousand men trying to take his land. His people find him amabilis esto, his opponents think he is stubborn, Nico will hold his ground till the ground itself begins to shift. He may be a man, but he will hold like a wall.
If you are confused by some of the poem/story words, I wrote some Latin in there.
You are far too kind, my friend. I will try my best to be worthy of your praise.
Well thank you.
i haven't played Rome 2 in about 2 months so forgive me if you've already done this and i can't tell, but you should try to turn the banner sizes down, makes it look better imo. It doesn't matter that much its a small thing. Great video!
That was epic Apollo, really enjoyed :)
You should have a rule that says when any players general dies he gives his army to ai control
Love your videos man keep it up
More Rome 2 please I was waiting for this stuff
this was... epiiiiic... one of the greatest suge battles i ever seen.. GGs mate you rule
Thanksgiving, adderall, new Apollo vid, and diesel jeans 🍻
Truly one of your best battles. Absolutely loved it!
Apollo, i have a sugestion, make a battle that each player can chose only one type of unit, like you pick arches, someone else pick horsemans, the other one picks swordsman... wuld be cool.
This is a year late, but it is pronounced "Get-eye" or "Get-aye". Love this videos. I started playing RTW2 again this year. Love the content.
Those ambushers were awesome
There's much more that can be said about the pilum, they would indeed bent or sometimes break upon impact, pull shields off balance and be unusable by the enemy. They were mainly used to disrupt an enemy charge. The Romans knew that in hand to hand a standing shield wall of Roman legonaires could almost outmatch anything being thrown at them. A pila assault made chargers stumble over their own dead, created gaps in the lines or shieldwall so the charge impact wouldn't be one full-on hit. It was very useful against enemies that used heavier armour as chainmail was the more "common" heavy armour and the pilum could easily pierce this. All in all it was a fearsome weapon, the flimsiness of the spear point belying its deadly result.
Hi apollo im a huge fan of yourse and
happy Thanks giving
Btw you were kind of right. There’s been models of pila found with wooden screws so that when it made impact the shaft would break off from the point. But that was from the later empire period.
THAT WAS THE MOST INTENCE AND AMAZING BATTLE EVER
great job Apollo
Love the vids been watching your videos for couple years now
I’m a simple man
I see a new Pixellated Apollo video, I click like
19:50 I think he was trying to slow down your reinforcements with his last unit, he basically sacrificed himself to help his allies
Happy thanksgiving Apollo!!!
great video as always
"The corpse of an enemy always smells good"
Happy thanksgiving brotha!
Im pritty sure we always injoy ur vids

Apollo: And now im running very hard
General: *jogs*
wp for that ambush on those archers!
Great vid apollo
I just love your rome2 battles please keep it up
you are my favorite total war youtuber
Y’know earlier today when I was playing Rome: Total War Barbarian Invasion or something along those lines and I went to fight these rebels in which it was in equal amounts of favor between us (I was the Saxons btw) and the battle was so much in the rebel’s favor and with only like, three units left compared to their like seven somehow, I won.
Im only 16 year's old and apollo is my idol at playing this game ... Hes my idol ... I always watching his video .... He always said reserve your ammo for the last stand haha i always remember that sentence haha ....im from philippines by the way
Great video
Dragontamer114 how the video isnt even out long enough to watch until the end...
During this time period, subservient Athenian armies that are called up to help the legions would not be uncommon. A nice historical touch in my opinion.
Actually like these Rome 2 replays
24:45 looks like a painting ahaha
Me: k it's midnight, and i need to sleep
* New Apollo vid*
Also me: k hold up
Loving the uploads !!!
GREAT video :) you guys are really making Rome 2 look fantastic... what happened to that unplayable buggy mess everyone used to complain about?
You got me back into rome 2 lmao
Thanks for the clip Apollo
You gotta do more rome 2 sieges man, they're great
One of your best videos
Happy Thanksgiving Apollo
I’m literally eating my nails watching this fight the great allaiance is the best , really great ambush pixie and congratulations to all players they put up a great fight, anyway if it can be helpfull the correct pronunciacion of Geti is how it si written with an accent on the “e”
These are the kind of battle I love to watch
Seeing the three roman units clumped up when you sent your ambushers against their archers, in my mind I was just "If they dont pull the other two units back this will affect their lines if they start to thin out." and it did. They ended up having to send hastati to plug up their right instead of legionary cohort.
Got my 6pack of beer and left over dressing ready to go
Very Cool Video!
Can You Play More Mount & Blade Napoleonic Wars?
Haha the Athens player was one of those guys who thinks having a small ass army with nothing but expensive units will make you win.
great video! more rome 2 pls.
I've watched this on live, and I'm going to watch it again, it was sooooo close
Those heroic riders are soooo god damn cool man
A bent pilum is unlikely to render the shield any less useful than a normal javelin. The primary point of it bending is so that it can't be thrown back at the Romans.
