It means a lot to me too. 1 year ago me and this girl fell in love but didn't work out bc our parents didn't want us to have a relationship at a young age. (the thing is, we've liked each other for years. At least I have for 4 years, her probably 3.) We were still friends though, then 5 months ago she said she wanted to try again. I was all for it bc I still loved her. We started talking again, after a month. she got over whelmed, said it was to much and that she couldn't keep a secret from her parents anymore. This song changed my life. I used to have really bad self confidence and even worse social anxiety. My dad showed me this song one night and had me sing it to him and practice it... this song really works well for my alto voice, and I caught on. A couple years later, I worked up enough bravery to stand up on a stage with all of my extended family in front of me and sing this. That may sound like a tiny task to some, but it was a giant step for me. I trembled at the beginning, but slowly gained confidence and completed the song. It was an overwhelmingly sublime feeling.
And now, years after that, I am recording my songs and singing in public chats and working up my strength to sing for strangers in person and, hopefully soon, post covers on RUclips. None of these aspirations would ever be possible without this masterpiece. Thank you, Edwin McCain!!
