- Hey everyone! Welcome back to Fowler Fisheries. Today, we've got something pretty unique for you - we're filling up our carp lake and giving it a splash of colour by dyeing it blue. Yep, you heard that right. It's not just for looks though; this blue tint is actually good for the lake's ecosystem and our fish.
We'll take you through the whole process, from pouring in the water to adding the dye, and share some insights along the way. It's a bit of a different vibe from our usual stuff, but we think you'll find it interesting.
If you enjoy the video, give us a thumbs up and leave your thoughts in the comments. We always appreciate your support. And if you haven't already, hit subscribe to stay updated on all our fishing adventures.

Living the dream (and nightmare) of building a lake. Love the updates and look forward to seeing how it flourishes once you have planted up plus the introduction of all the bream…
I'm not really into carp fishing but have followed this lake build from the get go I think say in 25 year time this place is going to be one of the best venues in the uk especially with the story behind it love it can't wait to see it come to life
Best comment! Thanks so much!

Perfect koi pond.
🎉🎉🎉❤❤Love this mate and Tom maker is the best 🎉🎉well done boys keep it up when it finishes I hope too come fishing ❤❤❤
Been looking forward to this🎣
It seems very appropriate to me that you invited your friend, it is clear that he has experience, and above all he is honest with you about the pros and cons of the lake. The theme of ducks, chickens and others is a real fact, even the most "pretty" thing has its not "so pretty" parts xD
This is beautiful to watch, thank for sharing your story ❤
Glad you enjoyed it!
I sure did
Can not wait to come fish here only just down the road from me
Bloody Brilliant m8.
Love this! Greets from Holland!
Been waiting to see how this is going 🎉
🎉🎉🎉🎉can't wait for the carp to get in the dam
They are in! Video coming soon
That water from the tankers would have chlorine in it. So it will create a nitrogen spike after about 2 weeks which feeds algea . It will settle down.
Chlorine would inhibit growth.
Looking amazing keep it up 🎉
Thank you! Cheers!
Train spotting tune❤
The transformation from the first video is Amazing, very well done mate. I look forward to the next ones 👌🏻
Glad you liked it
@fowlerfisheries saw you over on Mats video that was absolutely Epic well done mate, they ain't beating your time 👏
Im here because off matt Armstrong 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😊grate driving by the way ben
Decent watch mate. Living the dream 🎣💪
I hope you create a competition for a free stay. great work !😛
I know someone that’s built 5 lakes on his land. He owns a place called Amazon fisheries near polegate. From what I remember him telling me he waited 5 years or so to stock it, well with big fish anyway. Let the nutrients build up. And as for aeration I’ve seen places with pumps or paddles just to keep the surface moving and get the oxygen into the water. Great build though 👌
Great video pal, have to say this is something unique love it !!
Thanks a ton!
Looking amazing😊
Thank you 😊
Quality the CCTV camera installation 😂looked hairy haha 😜 awesome work mate!
This is wicked bud, would love a walk around one day 👍🎣
Muy buen video tío sigue así eres un artista 💪
Health and safety will have field day with that forklift 😂😂😂
Great job fella 👍 very interesting vid

Been watching this less from the start! Keep em coming mate
Thanks mate! Got so many videos planned, going to try and move to 2 a month 😃
IV always dreamed of building my own lake the closest I ever came to it was I built a 12ftx12ftx4ft pond in my garden....your lake looks awesome well done bud
Mines not much bigger bro! But thankyou! 😂
Oooo faringdon not to far from me 👀😏
looking good keep it up :)
Thank you! Cheers!
Nice koi pond.
Cheeeeeeeerrrrrssss
That’s some dodgy looking cctv installation going on 😂
Looks great! Didnt the old fisheries use potassium permanganate to treat algae blooms and kill off fish disease?
What carp are you going to stock it with? Just carp or any other fish?
Going to be amazing in a few years time. Just hope the otters don’t come for a call
Nice to see my work Liquiline delivering the water mate it’s looking good 🤙. Ivan is a top bloke but your right English isn’t great 🤣.
Top guy, always got the lorry in the right place! Thanks for the assistance guys 👍
Was buzzing watching this! Sometimes its clear you don't have a fucking clue but you get shit done so you remind me of myself haha, love it.
😂😂😂😂😂
All that water it must be expensive 😅. But keep following youre dreams mate
Thanks! Will do!
An issue with ducks and other waterfowl (geese in particular) is that they're basically fertiliser production machines, as such this can cause chaos with your water quality in the forms of big nitrate/phosphate spikes leading to algae blooms. The more alkali your water, the worse this problem can be particularly in regards to ammonia build up as ammonium (relatively safe) converts to ammonia (extremely toxic at low concentration) as the pH climbs. We've always limited waterfowl populations for this reason.
Aquatic oxygenators will help keep the nitrate/phosphate balance under control much better than marginals (marginals filter inflow but don't do much for water already in the lake) but the issue is that the really good ones are also super aggressive and will require frequent management to stop them taking over. Be mindful that when raking/cutting you've got to remove as much as possible from the water and compost it somewhere downstream of the lake where it can't leech those trapped nutrients back in. Be cautious with lilies if you're planning on introducing them, they look nice but they're not great for water quality (reduces sunlight and wind action), they can also spread like wildfire in 2-6ft of water and are a pig to remove because if you don't get the tubers out, you've only inconvenienced them.
In terms of your balancing pipe I'd perhaps consider a style of siphon that pulls water from the bottom rather than the top. It's basically a larger diameter capped pipe that goes over the top of your vertical pipe so it acts sort of like a reverse shower trap. The idea of this is so you're not removing the oxygenated top layer of water when draining, this will help minimise fish stress.
Looks like you're doing a grand job though and I look forward to seeing the site develop
You missed barley straw. Superb for water quality.
Fish excrete as well.
Excess bait.
Over stocking.
Always remove warm water to reduce fish stress.
Well done fowler are you going to put it on swimbooker or catch mate
The dye will be most effective when put in around the start of February, before photo synthesis kicks in .. I used it on a lake I ran stuffed with Canadian pond weed , unfortunately the lake was porous , best advice I can give you is make sure to provide the anglers with your own landing nets slings etc .. make sure they dip their reels in a tank with jeyes fluid just to be extra safe , you only need a cup full to about 500 litres of water make sure it's well deluted, weed is a nightmare mate really is
Thanks so much dude! Maybe its time at the minute to top it up again! Nets and slings will be provided by us! So anglers don’t have to bring any!
Photosynthesis ...all one word.
First again, buzzing
Try and make it a hat trick 😂
🙌🙌🙌
I’d dig a lil bowl on the side for somewhere for the fish to spawn and get away from the anglers?
If you want to stop algae put bales of barley straw in, 5-6 bales would work in a pond that size, make sure you anchor the bales, or tie them to the side. You need to get oxygenating plants/weed. I hate that dye when theres natural ways of doing it.
What’s was the brand of the dye you used?
Came from car vids, stayed for 🎣 lake 😂
How many acres is your lake, its very impressive
What dye did u use??
I hope you payed for all that water 😂
Can not wait to.get to fish there 😂
Oi Maker! Is that a Dr Pepper I spy? Ridiculous! 😅
oh wow very interesting, your the car podcast guy i didnt realise... will this be a day ticket venue when up and running?
Hi buddy! haha yes i am! Two polar opposite channels. This will be exclusive booking only however a day ticket venue is in the works...
👍
What about airation instead of drainage and topping back up more cost effective
Coming along Nicely mate have you stocked it yet
Yes karl, stocking will be in two videos time! Some of the stock can be seen on our instagram
@@benfowlerfisheries great stuff 👊💯
Isnt he in the Mat Armstrong videos in a lambo ..
Guess we both like cars and fish
Nice 930
Haha its for sale at JZM porsche atm if anyone is interested haha
Will this be open to the public
When will the next vid be up roughly?
Barley straw bails to soak the algal bloom up if it ever happens again
The reason for the algae bloom is you have water that is full of nutrients and nothing to take them up once you have plants established to take up nutrients algae should become less of a problem over time
I would love to see a large tree or stones put in the middle to create places for fish to hide
Do you live near Alton in Hampshire
When is it opened to fish😊
He even has ducks lmao
Get a solar powered water pump for a fountain that might help the oxygen levels.
When's the next episode coming out?
Watching you do manual labour gives me great joy
Do you watch Matthew Collins videos on his lake management? Could be beneficial
I've taken loads of info on board from his videos, not just management either but his tips on rigs hooks etc. Very knowledgeable guy I think!
Better look at bamabass how he do it ❤
As long as wind can hit the lake it will turn the water over for you wow its not very big is it
I live in Swindon
You need an aerator
Because I know a Farringdon and my grandparents live their
Its a bit square?
Get some camo tape around that camera make it carpy see that from a mile away 😂
Thats a shout
@@benfowlerfisheries few quid of the internet it’ll do the job 👏🏼
Anywhere that’s furthest away is the best place lol 😂 the fish a probably right under your rod tips 😂 typical carp angler mentality
Contact AE fisheries , Andrew Ellis and get advice about your planting of the lake
Is this on land next to his mums house?
you'll be ok for water in february 24🤣
Should have made it at least 5-15 foot wider
