@@gentlemanmaniac9992 But on multiple occasions he be petty and somewhat ruining their missions because he thinks he is better than Leo without actually proving why he is better. I love earlier version Raph but he is such a hot head.
Raph's aggressive personality seems like it is mitigated by his position of leader, I think, combined too with both Eldest Brother Protectiveness and very likely a lifetime of being bigger and naturally stronger than his brothers (not to mention spikier!), which means he has to be more attentive and careful around them than any previous iteration of Raph had to be. Learning to manage his anger and natural snappish (haha) instincts would have been extremely relevant to this version of him in particular. I think it's a fantastic take on his personality, especially for the tone of the show! Also I am full of I Love Him disease, and it is Terminal.
And you noticed the more violent and (passive) aggressive is Donnie? And Mikey's loving and good-natured, supportive personality resembles 2003 Don's. I think this show played with the characters personalities but still kept the core elements
@@SpaceandGoats I mean, their core elements are the archetypes they're based on ("the brute/muscle/hothead/etc.", "the leader", "the brains", "the optimist"). Those are not personality traits and not specific at all, so there's a lot of room to play around with.
@@SpaceandGoats here’s how I think the personality’s are switched Mikey- good natured, kindhearted, sassy, humble(ish), polite, and a tad shy. Sounds like ‘87 and ‘03 don. Don- snarky, deadpan, massive ego, a bit violent, passive aggressive, (most likely become a supervillain if it wasn’t for his brothers) sounds like the other Raphaels
People say that Raph isn’t as aggressive or rogue as he used to be which was a big part of his earlier personalities but these videos is making me realise that he has a bulky rough attitude mixed with stereotypical older brother being protective trope. I need to focus more on all the characters rather than just Donnie & Leo 🤦🏼♀️
@@courtneycollis6911 Me too. In the other version I was allways annoyed and tiered of this that Raph is so agressive and always hith Mikey everytime espacely in 2012 version. This version is really nice and refreshing.
I mean all of his plans consist of going in, smashing and winning. So it definitely still clocks as his personality. I just love how it still makes so much sense that he never directs this recklessness to his brothers because he learned when he was little that he was MUCH stronger and he HAD to learn to be gentle with them
0:36 i love how Raph's actor (Omar Benson Miller) said this line so much, his delivery made the line where it could get a chuckle so much funnier. You can tell that he has so much fun voicing the character
One of my favorite parts about this iteration is that his favorite musical style is soul. They could’ve easily made it heavy metal or punk rock- but they chose soul music and I just think that adds so much to his characterization
I haven't watched too much of this show but from what I'm seeing, Raph is like the big brother who you can't really get mad at when he laughs off a "I told you so" because he was actually right and that he admittedly deserves a right to complain whenever he's tired of whatevers happening
Raph is my fav, is so refreshing and nice to see him as the leader and the big bro, he is more kindness and sweet than he used to be in old Tmnt series, but also he does his best so he can protect his family and be a good example for his brothers.
I think the moment that Raph unlocks his power show us who he really is : strong, powerful, aggressive but on top of that,a big brother who deeply cares about his brothers!
@@marissawiseman8419 I'm not sure which clip you're talking about, but the line is from "Snow Day" while the mystic ability unlock (the clip right after) is from "Bug Busters". Both are from season one.
Something that I love about this version of Raph, is that it’s very likely that Splinter saw that he was the biggest and oldest and immediately deemed him leader. He’s essentially if the normal interpretation of Raph lived his entire life in a position of responsibility.
Honestly, when I first read about their descriptions before the show came out, with Raph being the oldest, the leader, and being in this big and bulky, I was absolutely terrified for poor little Mikey. I was so sure that there was going to be more Mikey abuse with this show, and it was gonna be worse with Raph being like that. But oh BOY was I wrong! I never thought I would say this, but at least in this version, Raph is my favorite turtle 🐢 ❤️❤️🔥 We love and support big soft boi 😍😍😍
He really would! It might be weird, but I've had a dream of getting a big hug from Raph once or twice fairly recently. He'd be like a warm and soft weighted blanket or teddy bear
How did I not make the connection that Raph was the oldest brother in this version!? It makes so much sense now why he wasn't being all brooding and bullying his bros, he's raising his bros instead. It also explains why Leo's personality in this one is so drastically different to his previous iterations and why he's essentially taken Mikey's usual place on the totem pole as the dumb one because he is younger now
It's also refreshing to see Raph not beat on Mikey every chance he gets. In fact, I don't Raph hits Mikey once in this show!
This Raph isn't an asshole
