This honestly made me feel so much better! Tomorrow is my 1st day at Massage Envy with hands on training. It's also my 1st esti job, and I'm so nervous! Thank you for sharing this!
more q & a questions LOL 1. what precent of income is from products 2. do you ever want to having your own business 3. was it ever awkward with your first few clients
I was the same just getting out of school! Wanting to be in the medical field with being an esthetician. I started at a spa job, i ended up hating it there and took a break from esthetics. for 2 years then went back to get my master esthetician license (Virginia has that program) & i was so happy i went back to school because i thought it wasn't for me, Now i work at a great spa AND I'm working in a doctors office !!!
Thank you for sharing ur experience Alison! I just commented under this video, asking a question that it looks like you sort of answered it for me! I’m starting an Estetician school in November in NJ. They also offer extra certification, after you receive your Estetician license. They offer “medical esthetician certification”. Since my interest is to work in a medical office or Medical spa, if I should even start at place like massage envy to get my “training” in, or just go right ahead and get medical Estetician certification to look for a job in medical spa right away… or they won’t really hire you at medical spa, even with medical Estetician license, without any “experience” ??
How many years experience did you have as an esthetician before landing a job as a medical esthetician? I am currently working as a wax specialist to gain experience in the field, but have my heart set on the medical side of the industry.
anna rose mabile I never thought about that ! I think that is an awesome idea. Wish I would have thought of that when I aaa younger. Good luck to you 🙏🏽
My friend worked on a ship told me she didn’t get a break until bed time, it’s contract work, 30 min services, and you do more 1hour massages than facials and peels. Fast pace but very long days unless you’re ship is parked then you’re free but only for a few hours since you have other chores to do on the boat other than esthetics (sweeping and mopping decks)
I make good money being a 4th grade teacher, but am looking for a career change. I AM TERRIFIED of not being financially stable if I become an esthetician😓 I want to be in the medical field too. Do you find yourself commuting your pennies or are you able to live a comfortable everyday life? ☺️ I know it varies by state, I’m in Atlanta.
Is this me talking lol this is my story 😅 stumbled on your channel! Was looking for funny Aesthetician videos. Glad I found you. I've watched a few of yours and subscribed. I think I mention ME in 1 or 2 videos, I hated it.
In order to work in the medical side of esthetics, I’ve read that you have to have some type of medical license like rn or doctor. I’ve tried to research more but feel clueless lol. Do you give Botox? was it hard to get into the medical side? When job listings say they want a medical esthetician does that mean you must have a medical license?
I worked at a med spa and we did more advanced facial procedures such as microneedling, derma planing and lazor machines. The nurse that worked there did Botox/fillers and also vitamin infusions. Some estheticians take phlebotomy to draw blood and do PRP for Microneedling and lymphatic massage. Many estheticans go back to school for nursing to get more advanced training for the medical side which is smart to do. This industry is growing. I may go back for nursing sometime in the future. Just worried about finances. I already have my bachelors in psychology but its best for women to learn as many skills in this tough expensive world
that is why many estheticians are going back to school for nursing or MD to gain more skills under their belts. Also when having a business there are certain things we can’t purchase or order medical grade products such as skin cells due to not have a medical license. So that is pushing us to extend our education to have familiarity and comfort with the medical side of things. Also the business side is super expensive especially the lazor machines@@yoyoyowantsumchicken2go721
Thank you for this information:). I’m thinking of doing the esthetician program and everything I’m seeing says it’s best to start with a salon. But worried about pay? How was the pay? Thank you
Thank you so much for posting this !!! I am starting my Estetician school in November. They also offer additional certifications, such as medical Estetician certification. Do you think I should consider skipping “massage envy” and just go right in into medical esthetician certification after I get my Estetician license, in order to get hired in a medical spa or any other medical offices?…. Or they won’t really hire someone fresh out of school, even if it medical esthetician certification on my resume, without any experience? Thank you in advance 😘
as an esthetician i would say it’s necessary to get some experience at somewhere like massage envy etc before moving into the medical part of it, they typically want like 2-3 years experience at med spas
Do they have a no compete policy? Or that you can’t work within a certain mile radius of that location for a period of time after you no longer work there?
Are you licensed in more than one state? If so, was it easy to get your second license? Do med spas and plastic surgery offices look at esthetician’s straight out of school or are they expecting a certain amount of experience?
To work at massage envy do you recommend getting a medical esthetician laser degree ? Does massage envy care? Would knowledge in lasers increase your pay?
I remember in one of her videos she was saying knowing how to work with laser will increase your pay but also getting more certification will also ! But having the laser degree is perfect for the medical esthetician field. Hope this helps 💜💜💜
@@nakiababy I agree with you, if you spend money to get certified in lasers, I would straight up shoot for the higher paying job, which medical spa would be able to offer … at least that’s what bits and pieces of information I’m gathering as I’m collecting my information bit by bit !
At my school at Aveda our curriculum is broken into 2 parts. One is intro where we have workbook and everything and then second part is us accepting paying clients (money goes to school).

How is it going so far? Do you like it?
Thank you for making this video!! It was such a confirmation for the direction I’m headed. God bless🙏🏽
This was so me. 😂 I wanted to work in a med spa and I didn’t want to work at any spas or franchise.
Congratulations 🎉 on your first job as an esthetician!!! 😊

anna rose mabile yes super interested in the pay and #1
I was at ME for a year 10% commission and my checks were 50% tips 25% commission
@@heidihoefs4170 so they don’t pay you hourly ?
Nice discovering you. I also studying to be an esthesticienne here in Paris 😍 soon my exam is coming, inspire me seeing people on this field 👍👍

Can I ask you what master esthetician school you went to in VA?
I think your view on the experience is very positive and helpful for early esthis. thanks for the positivity! :)

do you know anyone that as been an esthetician on a cruise ship? i am interested in doing that after i get out of school
anna rose mabile I never thought about that ! I think that is an awesome idea. Wish I would have thought of that when I aaa younger. Good luck to you 🙏🏽
thank you!
A lot of people I know chose to work on a cruise ship so it’s a really good choice 👍

@@heidihoefs4170 wait they make you clean the boat as well??? Wth...
What skincare brands did you use when you worked at massage envy?
murad and pca
When you had your first esthetician job was the pay bad?
what was the interview process ? i have one set for next month and im nervous ! graduating from esti school as well in may !
This was so helpful, thanks girly
Do you only get paid by the hour + commission or are you earning a salary? Do you have weekends off?
Cruise ship is what I wanted, but cortiva shut down fast and graduation was tbd.and had no recruitors.
Do you have any tips for interviews going into esthetics/ what to expect?

This is a huge question for me as well!
Take the leap I bagged a job 15 an hour right after plus commission
Is this me talking lol this is my story 😅 stumbled on your channel! Was looking for funny Aesthetician videos. Glad I found you. I've watched a few of yours and subscribed. I think I mention ME in 1 or 2 videos, I hated it.
What books did you use to help study or learn about esthetics? I'm taking classes next semester and I really wanna get a head start on learning.
Why did she take to ask questions but then doesn't answer any of them?
Is massage envy products really worth it? Do they work? Would you get paid by the hour? Love your videos! 💗
Gaining experience is worth more than a high paying job you can’t get because of a lack of experience. Learn before you earn
What is pay like? Like hourly? Do you get commission from services and products? Do you get to keep full tips?
How long is esthetic school? Can you work at massage envy on weekends only or nights only? I have a full time job and want to do it on the side.

Depends on your states regulations
If someone is doing medical especially fillers or botox you do need some sort of license or approval

I believe she's licensed in California and Nevada. I'm curious about this too because I live on the border of two states.

What kind of book did you start reading, when you stated school ??
is there multiple esthetician jobs at a plastic surgeons office? other than laser technician
Have you had a client complain about their treatment/your practice?
do you do lash extensions ?? if so, on yourself ??
what song did you use for this video?
I only want to wax as a esthetician how do I convey that during interviews with salons
Hey i have second interview for massage envy to do a demo any tips?
Is it possible to open up a business as a laser technician?
did you work at massage envy after or before going to nation laser institute?
never mind i see that you went after
in the q & a could you say your time line of jobs and education like how you decided it was the right timing to go to national laser institute
When taking the esthetician classes was it like college classes where it’s broken up into two separate semesters?
No but at the moment there may be a hybrid lesson requirement due to corona. Some time from home and some time there.
At my school at Aveda our curriculum is broken into 2 parts. One is intro where we have workbook and everything and then second part is us accepting paying clients (money goes to school).
We’re you scared of making this life change & becoming an esthetician? What was schooling like?
do you do lash extensions ?? if so, on yourself ??
Taylor Pettersen yess!! I wanna know this too!
Lol on yourself?
