I plan on going to Esthetician school but I have a few questions.. I have strawberry skin on my arms and I have very old self harm scars. Will that be a problem to apply to school? I plan on getting my scars removed or cover them with tattoos but I also don't know how they would feel about tattoos too. I would love to hear a response because I really want to be an Esthetician 🥺
I love your videos!! I’m on the edge of wanting to go to esthetician school or not. Did you have to go to different places to get certified for everything that you are certified in? Like for instance, when you went to aesthetician school, did they also provide a program to get a certificate for dermaplaning? Or do you have to go somewhere else to get certified for that?
I’m licensed in CA and to simply break Esthetician school downs they pretty much teach us the basics and how to prepare to pass state board. Allot of the experience you learn will be outside of school. When I got my first esty job they trained me in Chemical peels and Microdermabrasion. I took an online class for Dermaplaning and fibroblast. So mostly will be on your own to keep further education.
@@GabsterZ21 Thank you so much for all of this wonderful information! I’m going to see if I can job shadow someone here in Ohio soon, so I can kind of see what it’s like to be esthetician 😊
@@calmlysom there's not a TON of jobs (near me at least) that offer exactly what I'm looking for. This includes FULL TIME, hourly pay or a very fair commission rate, and doing what I wanted to do. I enjoy performing laser, microneedling, more of the invasive options but in my state you must work under a physician to perform these services. It's hard to find practices in my area that offer esthetician's. And typically once a esthetician does get employed, they tend to stay. I found my dream job although it's an 40 minute commute. Just goes to show that there's not a ton in the area. Everywhere is so different. Look up jobs on indeed or Glassdoor before you make the decision. It took me 40 weeks. I was in night class.
@@calmlysom no prob! Also, my school did have an advanced course that would "certify" you in laser. While I don't doubt the course was a informative and educating course, it wasn't one covered by financial aid. A certification can be printed out at home and given to anybody. It doesn't mean a TON. Also each laser is so different. Most employers will train you on their specific laser. Unless it's 100% necessary in your state, you don't have to invest in further certification for laser if you have the option for hands on, on the job training. Licensure took me about 2 months to obtain but it was during covid so a little slow.
@@Mamatayylor ohh I see Thank so much for the information. Also is it ok if i skip esthetician and just take a laser technician course by the way I'm from east elmhurst? :) where are you from and also which school ?
@@emmakendall8182 do you see “older” esthetician and aestheticians? I am 42 almost 43 and considering looking into taking courses, but I am anxious about my age being a factor. Plus if I would even like it or be “good” at it. I love skincare & makeup and feel like if I don’t change now I will regret later.

Hello

I’m an Esthetician too! Do you have an advanced license for your job?
Hey Emma, are you going to film a skin update video? I would love to know your experience using spironolactone! 😊
Why do some say esthetician and others says aesthetician?
Esthetician’s usually work in a spa or salon type environment. Aestheticians work in a medical type environment.

BBL?
Yes! Stands for Broad Band Light. Helps with pigment and redness in the skin.
