- Chionodoxa is one of the finest early flowering plants, prized for its adorable star-shaped flowers. It is native to the high alpine meadows of Turkey.
The name Chionodoxa derives from the Greek words 'chion' ('snow') and 'doxa' ('glory' or 'repute' ), that's why this plant is commonly known as Glory-of-the-Snow or Snow Glories. It is so-named because in some climates it blooms early enough that its bright blue six-point star-flowers appear right out of the snow.
