Hey how’s it going.?! I watch your videos and appreciate the information you cover and share. It’s been very useful to me as I’ve started to collect coins again in the past 6 months. I was hoping you might be able to answer a question for me. I was coin role hunting for Kennedy Half Dollars. While doing that I came across a 1990 D Kennedy Half Dollar that is gold plated. I have no idea why it is gold and I can’t really find any information online about Kennedy Half Dollars being gold plated whether with real gold or just the gold color.....except for some 1964 and one other year. II’m thinking it’s probably some sort of novelty or a promotional thing that somebody did at some point but like I said I can get no information on it and don’t have a clue what it is or why it is. Do you know anything about this? Thank you very much I appreciate it.! 👌🏼👍🏼
The 1972-D without designer's initials is not missing the FG b/c of die abrasion. In this year a die legitimately did not have the FG engraved into it (same happened with the 1982-P). Die abrasion (the mint polishes the dies to extend their life and remove marks of clashing) can happen on any date Kennedy half. But a true no FG variety, no matter what angle and lighting is used, will show no evidcen of the missing initials whatsoever. Ghosted initials occur from abrasion. Unfortunately, even the grading companies make the error frequently of marking ghosted examples from sie abrasion as being the legitimate no FG varieties.
It is not illegal to melt your coins it's illegal to melt them and then sell it but you're more than welcome to make to melt your own coins and make your own jewelry is not illegal

Only 1964 Kennedy is 90% silver everything else later is 40% silver
