Use pastal pencils along with the neocolors to get the sharper edges of tree limbs...i liked each time you made a creative thought to fix the creative art piece it gave layers to the piece.
love watching the various stages and how nice it turned out. Seeing you make mistakes and fixing them makes me feel better about all my mistakes. So excellent ti teach/demonstrate it al to us
Thank you for sharing your video plein air drawing with Neocolors. I’m glad I found you on RUclips, and I’m just getting into the Neocolor pastels, we will be learning together. It will be fun! I never did oil painting, but I watched Bob Ross faithfully, but I had to record his shows, because his voice put me to sleep! It is frustrating when the artwork doesn’t look like the one in our head and ready to start over. But then remember Bob Ross, no mistakes, only happy accidents. To me, the one thing I learned, even his paintings looked terrible at some point and I thought it was ruined, but it wasn’t. So when I’m feeling it’s an ugly duckling, I give it time and patiences to work past it. Most of the time it does. Other times it’s a learning experience. 🤣 It’s all fun and exciting. Fran
I know it’s possible, as a single mom with two children and two jobs, I couldn’t stay awake at my night class, but still made A’s on the test. My teacher said I was sleep learning. 🤣
What was the substrate you used in this painting? Thanks for sharing we all learn and being honest about your process gives the rest of us the ok to fail because that is how we learn. I truly enjoy when artists share their process.
I used a Canson Watercolor Artboard for this one. It's very thick and doesn't buckle at all. I still have so much to learn and I too like seeing the process of others so why not share my own? Thanks for taking a look.
The orangish brush is a simple craft brush, the green one is actually a Crayola craft brush. I tend to like them because they are short and they don't hold as much water as the true watercolor brushes. I find that is advantage when suing them with watercolor pencils. I usually only like a minimum amount of water so as to not dilute things too much. The black brush is a more traditional watercolor brush and it holds more water. That one did have a longer handle until I cut it off. 😊 It was an inexpensive Master's Touch brand so I didn't have much to lose.
Good question, but kind of a tricky one. A lot depends on the type of surface and the amount of water you use. It can also depend on the temperature and humidity of where you are painting. Papar surfaces will soak up a lot of the water so it feels like it only takes a minute or two to dry to the point that it won't move around anymore. On less absorbant surfaces or when using more water it takes longer to dry. Since neocolor is sort of wax based it doesn't really soak up too much water into itself. If that makes any sense . So it kind of dries at the same rate as water itself would.

Great tip! I'll have to try that.

Plenty of mistakes when I paint! It's fun anyway.
Love the color and texture you made
Keep exploring the neo two. I will watch them all if you do. You did great with this one, I loved the journey 🌻🐝✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
Thanks for the feedback. I'll definitely keep Neocolore in the rotation. So many art supplies and so little time! 🤣
I think the final painting looked really nice and it was cool to see how you combined the Neocolour I's and II's in the same piece.
Thanks Maria. It was fun to do try something new.
I love your rendering with this Neocolor II!
Caran D'ache Neocolor 2 Pastels are my FAV drawing/ painting medium at the moment! 🥰 I have some Neocolor 1's that I haven't used in a while.
Neocolor 2s are hard to beat!
Thank you for showing your process. It turned out wonderful.
Thank you!
👍 thanks, I haven’t thought of using the neocolour ones and twos on the same painting, good idea.
Glad it was helpful!

I know I took many naps with Bob Ross in the background. Maybe I learned some things by osmosis. Haha

Great video. I was wondering where you got those short flat brushes (their handles seem shorter than normal watercolor brushes).

After applying water how long did it take for the Neopastel II to dry?

@@PaintWithPencil thanks for your reply! I’ll take this in mind when I start using it.
