A useful summary. Thanks. However, this video has fallen prey to the standard uploader error --- the repetitive background noise is too loud and too distracting. Subliminal levels are optimal.

Even worse are some inaccuracies, e.g. 2:05 “… a new war of 1875“. 1870/71 would be correct.

Ok now yes it is pretty accurate but one major mistake. WW1 does not officially end until the treaty of Versailles because it was an armistice not a peace treaty. Fighting was not officially over until the treaty of Versailles in 1919 and yes the main ww1 fronts were done but there was still fighting in Russia Poland and even Romania who had signed a peace treaty with Germany. Plus political violence led to military crack down in Germany plus the armistice was only meant to last for 36 days but constantly renewed until Versailles.

After WWII , Germany was severely punished but Italy and Japan not so much . Anyone ever think why that was ? And I think that Japan's war in China in the 1930's was the real start of WW II .

    • @ferns9555

Germany wasn't severely punished after the war, they brought the destruction on to themselves by not throwing in the towel soon enough. What West Germany got after the war was long term economic growth and boom, unlike after WW1 where the economic prosperity was short lived. Stalin did proposed for a united but neutral Germany but this was rejected for good reasons as the Soviets would've definitely backed up a communist take over just as they did with the rest of eastern Europe as they advanced. If you think what Germany got after the war was severe then I recommend you look up the Morgenthau plan, which the plan was basically the genocide of Germans in disguise, thankfully FDR and Churchill were wise enough to know that it's just plain unethical, especially it would confirm the Nazi propaganda to the German population that the allies were set out to destroy them.
Italy was spared of severe punishment because they were really not much of a threat and we're just a complete joke in North Africa and Greece. They couldn't have the success they had in the war if weren't for German support.
Japan wasn't severely punished because the USA and the allies did not want a repeat of what happened with Germany after WW1, extremism and resentment rising and just causing new chaos in the future, it would also confirm the propaganda the Imperial government had instilled on the population where the American forces would just ruthlessly massacre them all to extinction. Lastly, the US saw potential in Japan as a strategic ally against the spread of communism, which is why not many of the leaders were punished with the war crimes they committed as they should have (same goes for when they allowed high ranking ex-Nazis in the west German government), alienating Japan would also have possibly led the country into the Soviet sphere as the Japanese communist party was gaining approval during the occupation.

Holodomor in Ukraine was horrible but wasn't genocide. It happend in all grain producing republics, and wasn't targeted on Ukrainian people. It happend because of Stalin's order to produce more grain, because USSR could only trade wood, grain and produce with west.
