He knew he got lucky, and had 6 years to prove he could do the job and represent the people. He took it seriously. At the same time, he knew that his time was going to be limited. Omg good I'm not alone. I posted this previously without ever seeing anyone say the same thing, so I completely agree:
One thing I noticed about Al Franken is he needs a thicker skin. He always gets so defensive like how he's saying everyone hates him because he thinks Graham is the funniest senator. Well no, i absolutely detest and hate Graham but I completely understand and can see how he's the funniest senator and I don't hate Al Franken for it. What I don't like about Franken is how defensive and turns everything into a cry about how everyone hates him when it's not even true. like his self pity party gets so boring. Otherwise, he's a funny guy but needs to chill the F out about what people think of him. He shouldn't have even cares when in the Senate and just be himself but unfortunately he took the Democrats PC sensitivity and made all the bad choices over a fake incident that was OBVIOUSLY dished out by a Republican trying to destroy him- he should have fought it instead of being a self pitying baby who ran away/conceded to the lies against him.

The way this guy has managed to astroturf his very legitimate sexual assault allegations is very impressive. I guess there are some cool things available even to former senators. I completely disagree I'm on the other side. He manages to NOT defend himself against obvious lies propagated by a hardcore republican who made up false accusations to destroy him. I'm actually angry at him for being such a coward to not defend himself when it happened. It's since come up that the whole thing was manufactured based on a sliver of a truth which was a bit she agreed to. Absolutely disgusting Republicans but he also failed to fight that fascist tactic and just gave up, which is why I also don't like him.

@@emu_warrior What I'm really saying here is less about the truth of these allegations and more about the fact that, relative to other men singled out by the 'Me Too' movement, he has basically been able to cast doubt on and character assassinate his accusers and retain his prior platform. A lot of people tried that and for whatever reason it didn't work. It's really just the inequality that pisses me off.

I’m ok with Al Franken no longer being a U.S. Senator. I’ve met him personally, and while we share many political beliefs, his offline personality absolutely disgusted me. There are only 100 Senators in the United States, a country of over 300 million people-so yes, the bar has to be set much higher. No more failed game show hosts as President, no more former SNL cast members as Senator. Save the whataboutism, we can and must do better. Stop reducing our government to a high school class election where the class clowns get elevated.
