    You brought tears to my eyes. So proud of you, if I may so, Son. Any mother would be proud of your achievements. Im adventurous, a keen prospector, but at 67, one ankle reconstruction and fusion of a toe on the other, inexperienced bush walker, it would probably would kill me trying. Love the poem, and will never complain about the wind again.

    Bloody great effort young man. I quite often do walks like this into uncharted areas and often without a track to follow, but I have never had a camera like that. At 71 I need to catch up to this new tech, because it's great to see the true effort you put in. Thanks for sharing your trek and especially the poem at the end, Regards

    Love your treks and experiences. That hot water system works on a thermosiphon, cold water flows from the bottom of tank via lower tube to fire box wet back. Then heated it flows back thru upper tube to enter a higher point in tank. Works opposite for solar systems. Its been around for ages, rough form of heat exchanger.

      Dan Broun couple of reasons I chose to go through the franklin nature trail. 1. Iv got beef with the franklin river, this was not my first attempt at this walk. About a year ago my girlfriend and I were all packed and ready to walk in. The river level was too high to cross safely via foot so I got a blow up raft and paddled over with a rope to set up a tow line to get our gear over safely. On the way back over I got caught in the strong part of the river and water came over the side of the raft and it flipped, I somehow held onto the paddle, raft and rope line and made it back to land safely but my phone was worse for wear. We gave up after that and went to drown our sorrow at the empire hotel in Queenstown instead. This footage was ment to be in this movie but I lost it. So bummed. Also, I knew the car would be safer at the franklin nature trail as it’s regularly visited and I came across reports of cars left on the side of the road at the original entry being vandalised. So yeah, surprise river saved me crossing the franklin and I didn’t have to face him again! Cheers for the comment

    The heat circulates the water by itself. There is no need for a pump the hot water rises itself. Old combustion stoves also had these fitted. A tube of deep heat or a little tub of tiger balm might be a good idea for the pack.

    When we were at Tarraleah during the seventies we used to regularly ride down to the hut when Benetto and Johnson were prospecting there. A NP&WS person cut down the bridge across the Franklin during the early eighties so no-one could use the track. It is a shame that so much effort by a few hard working prospectors could be intentionally destroyed by such a public servant vandal.

    • @Rob.Parsons
      @Rob.Parsons  5 лет назад +3

      I would of loved to ride in on a bike, looking at the old photographers of dudes on with their ag bikes looks like such an epic time to be down there.
