Morning Mike, great idea to loosen dirt with land plane before dozing and scooping . Mum had right idea in adding pipe. That area would end up being a canyon rather than a swale.
Nice combo Mike, and love that you have the experience not to horse anything to hard or fast ... efficient, yet working within the capacity of the machine ... as you know, fixing and repairing bent or broken attachments gets expensive and time consuming, not to mention the stress on the machine, engine and hydraulics, PTO's etc ... glad your Mom had the foresight to consider the extra run of pipe, better looking, will save lots of time mowing .... AND it will make a great video and showcase Kubota well .... back in the day I did some shaping and drainage on golf courses and always factored in the "40 days and night of rain" in my plan ... taught by some of the best in the business, few thing worse than a huge blow out on a busy course or road .... I hope the family and Pups are doing well
Great setup you got there. I have a Land Pride GS1572 grading scraper for several years. A couples years ago, I added the two back blades so I can use the scraper both ways, forward and reverse. Pushing it makes a huge difference. It's much more agressive and loosen more material faster. Works great for me. Another thing that makes the scraper more efficient is an hydraulic cylinder top link. Look closely at the video and watch how the scraper tends to tilt forward has it accumulates material. With an hydraulic top link, you can reajust the leveling on the fly when that happens. Usefull too when you pass a bump or a large hole. I recommend those two imporvments. It doesn't cost much and it makes implements more efficients.
The top link has been my recommendation as well, but you have to search carefully to find one that fits a Kubota properly, and when you do you will probably have to grind the pin bearing narrower to fit where it pins to the tractor. Also, don’t buy one unless it has a check valve built in. I use the hyd top link on every attachment to adjust on the fly. It’s invaluable IMO.
There are top link cylinders made specifically for that purpose. Both ends are designed to fit the tractor and the implements just like a regular top link bar. I bought mine from my Kubota dealer. You are right that is is not very usefull while mowing with the bushhog but when you lift it and retract the cylinder, the wheel of the bushhog gets much higher. That is good when moving from one place to the other without having to watch your back. Top link cylinder shines more with implements like landplanes, box scrapers, blade scraper, snow blowers and other implements that could need level adjustments.
Just subbed to your channel maybe a week or so ago. Nice job on the garden fence. Looking forward to the outbuilding construction. Will you be pouring a pad for it????
I have a BX2360 and as you might guess it is not the tractor your big one is but I love it. I can't do big jobs quickly but I get them done. The only new thing that I have for the tractor is the rear blade. Tractor, snow blower and front blade are all used but works great. Because I live in a city storage is the one thing I have to watch, can't store things outside. Tractor on from west central Illinois
That is a good looking tractor, do they do a 4in1 bucket? With a 4in1 you can open the bucket and use it as dozer blade. The important thing to keep in mind when using a FEL on a tractor is to not put side load on it, only push forward. You are so good to your Mum.
That’s a really good piece of machinery that Kubota tractor and is the ideal thing to have providing you that you don’t have to much acreage to care for.
I am in love with that tractor man. I saw the traction control cut in with that one shot you did right along the ground there. That tractor is really something.
I have a Construction Attachments 4 in 1 front bucket that I am able to do the same job with. I got it when I bought the tractor (Kubota 3901) with other implements. I figure it saved me 1 or 2 other pieces of equipment. Further, every make of tractor I looked at the front bucket was a very thin sheet of steel. I just didn’t see them lasting the life of the tractor. For me, the decision was a good one. Love my Kubota. Last comment. I, like many others bought the very usable tractor and immediately wish I had got the next bigger size in the Grand L series.
On our farm, I have had to put in driveways to end the mess of mud every spring and fall. I just have a skid steer with which I dig down 12", then have 3" traffic bond, then 1" traffic bond delivered. I spread it and we end up with great long-lasting driveways. What I want to share with you is that teeth on the front edge of the bucket make a huge difference in the power needed to dig dirt. They are removable too.
I've used a 39 Ford 9n for years with just a scrape blade to grade areas on my property but the hydraulics are done now. I could rebuild them fairly cheap but I've had my eye on the MX series and if all goes to plan, I'm bringing home a MX6000 with cab tomorrow.
@@jeshualee2711 I actually opted for a smaller tractor. for what I do around here, the L3901 is plenty and I already have a shed it will fit under. even the L3901 has some good pushing power. i need to lock the rear diff sometimes if I dont have my ballast weight on the back but if I know I'm going to be pushing or lifting some weight, I've got 650lbs worth of steel ballast I welded up and made 3 point attachment points on.

It beats the old Box-Blade, equipped with DumBells on top of the Screw-Jacks for adjusting the tilt and angle of cut. Way back in 1957, No reply required. Thanks for sharing. Terry&ThePirates

I think you have a good working partner in the Kubota it is doing what you want it to do. If people can't wait or understand not getting back with you then they have the problem. Thank you for sharing your video with us. Hello Hunter. Ed I am in Mercer county at my mom's funeral this weekend I think you live near Z'town but I am not sure of that.
As I was watching and listening to you work the loader I thought boy howdy that really sounds solid. Then at the end you mention just that. Noticeable quality.
Good morning all . . 😊😊💝👍👍💥🌎🌹🌹🌹🌹 hay Hunter how are you doing today buddy. Hope your having a great day. It's kinda cloudy here today . And it was raining yesterday. 😊😊😊💥🌎💝👍
I just did a similar job yesterday, I used my tiller instead of a land plane (I don't have a land plane - yet). It's amazing how many people underestimate the power and ability of compact, and subcompact tractors.
Howdy Morgans, Mike your operating skills are self evident in the smoothness of your motion. It appears you are not moving much dirt however you are you just make it look easy. In my experience when someone makes something look easy they are very accomplished at what they are about. Have A Day! ;~)
I have a very similar tractor; GL5740HSTC, replaced my 2003 GL5030HSTC and I have fluid in my rear tires along with wheel weights and I can easily use only the FEL for dirt work, but more often than not use my HR3584 to break up the ground like you are doing. I agree with Salvator, no need to respond.
Good morning Morgan's. Looks like it's about time to enjoy another fantastic video, while drinkin' BRCC coffee with Mike N' Melissa, the daughters & Hunter, on this gorgeously sunny morning.
Enjoy your videos, let Kubota know your tractor deal with them just sold a tractor. I have been exploring brands and was leaning Kubota's way but saw your video and took it as a sign. I was not going to go with a cab but you look pretty comfortable inside and decided to go that way!
Please buy an American tractor so you support a US business and the US economy. Thanks! God bless you! Have you placed your faith in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, for the justification of your sin so you go to heaven instead of spending eternity in hell when you die?
I recently traded my 2015 MX 5800 in for a new MX6000 with the factory 3rd function valve. The 5800 didn't offer the 3rd function and I had to use one of the rear remotes for the grapple. I have owned and run several brands of compact tractors and by far the Kubota has the best hydraulics and smoothest loader control I've ever used. Not to mention, the loader is just over built so you don't have to worry about bending or breaking it. The MX is just a basic, simple 3 range hydro and doesn't have all the fancy features like the Kubota Grand L or the JD 4000 series but is over $10,000 cheaper! Most other brands including JD won't smoothly lift and dump at the same time. I also have a Korean made New Holland Boomer 33 that has great lift capacity but when lifting a bucket load of dirt the lift speed slows way down and almost stops when the bucket is dumping. I have owned 5 of the older Japanese made New Holland "Ford" compact tractors, and they were nice machines but now they're made in Korea and just aren't the same. Stay away from the Korean and India made tractors. The Japanese figured out the compact tractor years ago and in my opinion only, still make one of the best. And best of all, at least in upstate New York there is a Kubota dealer about every 25 or 30 miles.
Mike - Great video as always... Your decision to go with a 6 ft land plane is interesting. It is easy to see how it would be beneficial for road building. The 7 ft plane would be difficult to put a crown on the finished product without having too wide of a road. I have a 4 ft box blade I use with my JD 1025R and it is perfect for road/trail building. I have often thought I would never get rid of it. Speaking of box blades, your land plane seems to be a hybrid with box blade tines and land plane blades .... very nice tool. Michael from Canada
Mike - Another great video. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, it is pure pleasure watching you work your magic with your equipment. I think I remember you saying this tractor had weighted tires when it arrived. Am guessing that's what reduced the wheel spin, and your ability to use both the loader and the land plane at the same time. Those pins on the front of the land plane really do a great job of breaking up the soil so you can use the loader on the next pass. Blessings to you, Melissa, and your family. Hi to the Hunt man.
10/10 for mentioning the crown needed on gravel/dirt roads but I still think a rear blade is better. The rear blade is so much better at leaving surplus rolled materials on the centerline of the road & an application of glyphosate at least two weeks prior to the maintenance produces the cleanest cut edges. Land Planes are probably best in fields full of ant hills or gofer mounds but not driveway maintenance, IMO.
Scraping the last-pass land plane hump of with the loader kept your wheels level so the land plane didn’t react down in the front wheels going over the hump and up when the back ones did. Nice way to keep the work area level. I kept looking at that ridge between your borrow area and the creek - might be a good idea to move that into your pile anyway, even if just for drainage. I wondered if you really wanted to smooth out the potholes in your sister’s driveway while you were there!
Morning Mike, excellent work with your Kubota Tractor this morning. That brute sure does make your job easier. You’re doing a great job operating the tractor, so smooth and looks great. Thanks for sharing with us. Fred.
Even grandma could run one of these that good with hydrostatic transmissions and a joystick. Heck you watch grandma knit. Those needs are working with her fingers in automatic mode. 😀

Congratulations Melissa and her Off the Leash channel.. UH Mike do you maybe think they are watching your channel for Melissa? LOL just kidding but funny You all do a wonderful job, and you make is seem so easy, but a lot of time goes into it. Keep it up
I think I would have just made a nice swale using fabric and large drainage stone. Slowing it down would help a lot. A lot less money then pipe. That is also a very long section of pipe if something gets washed into it and blocked at some point. I do agree with the 6ft blade for crowning the roads. We have about a half a mile of dirt roads on the side of the mountain and road maintenance never ends.
Hey Mike if you haven't figured it out yet, locate your lift lowering speed control knob (should be under seat) and screw it in some so your implement lowers smooth and easy instead of free falling.
Mike you need to get a hydraulic cylinder and use for your third link, you've got the extra hydraulic hookups right there, easy to do and it will make a world of difference in controlling all your 3pt equipment! 👍I'm going to keep bugging you till you get one.👏 The landplane with the rippers looks like a really great tool, and love the MX5400! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Kubota has bought many companies relating to farming and home owners so now they are a company to be placed at the top of the food chain in engines and equipment for the public.....good choice Mike......also enjoy all the vlogs from the Morgan family...
That tractor is breaking you in real sweet. Nice job with the land plane - the bucket looks like it moves pretty smooth. Noticed that when you were putting down the gravel in the Material Reclamation Area[?]. Soother than the RK it seemed. Hey - have a grand day up there.
Your a good man, you have a great partner & family. We cant take it with us, you help many of us who is just exhausted listening to todays media. May The Lord Jesus protect our generation until His Time comes. God Bless your work & family .
I liked this video, thank you for sharing. Hope in a couple of months you will be able to provide a down to earth comparison between the MX5400 and the RK55.
I would not be surprised at all of his contractual obligations with Kubota prevent him from doing that. If you noticed in this video when he was talking about his previous use of a 7 foot land plane, he didn't mention RK at all. Just a guess. It would be nice to hear that comparison though.
Did you have to give back all of you attachments/implements you used with the RK tractors. I noticed you are only using Land Pride. I have a land Pride 96” box blade. It is tough!
Land Pride is now owned by Kubota. I suspect all the LP attachments came with the tractor as part of the "agreement". Everything else still in "inventory" is probably stuff Mike purchased.
I really like your channel cause it’s good and “safe” for me to watch with my son. I never have to worry about your content (it’s always good and entertaining plus you don’t swear). Thanks!! And keep up the great work!!
Mike that Kubota sure looks like a very capable and smooth machine but I would bet that your experience and skills would make any brand tractor look good. Have great day and carry on.
my little niece mom is the cheif inspector officer for these kubota products in thailand wich is there kubota coroporation inspection facility were there all inspected and a red sticker goes on and ships to all 500,000 kubota dealers over 350 countries over the world
Great job! Great to hear the sound of freedom in the background!
Oh, darn! You stole my thunder, lol.
Hopefully, it’s his range. Maybe he can show the building of a berm?
Loader control on Kubota is nice. Very smooth.
I like the fact that you use the equipment rather than abuse it. Dan, from Nova Scotia , Canada

Love the new tractor!
Have a great day
Nice tractor must have for a farm your size!
Mike the MX5300 is a real farm tractor. It made quick work of that tiny swatch.
Hi mike look at your videos day after day you really deserve the money you and melissa make you are a very hard working man.👍
Hey Mike another great video. Hi to Hunter and the family.
Playing with the new toys is nice but I am itching to see that new sprayer work on the drying shed.
Kubota has bought many companies relating to farming and home owners so now they are a company to be placed at the top of the food chain in engines and equipment for the public.....good choice Mike......also enjoy all the vlogs from the Morgan family...
How many of the old attachments did you keep?
Mike I watch your channel for quite a while now you’re a very good operator let the equipment do the work but you don’t abuse it
That tractor is breaking you in real sweet. Nice job with the land plane - the bucket looks like it moves pretty smooth. Noticed that when you were putting down the gravel in the Material Reclamation Area[?]. Soother than the RK it seemed. Hey - have a grand day up there.
Looks like some really good soil
I wouldn't be surprised if his contract with RK wouldn't allow him to do that.
God bless you!
Have great day and carry on.
my little niece mom is the cheif inspector officer for these kubota products in thailand wich is there kubota coroporation inspection facility were there all inspected and a red sticker goes on and ships to all 500,000 kubota dealers over 350 countries over the world
love it
That land plane sure makes a nice, smooth finish on a spot.
need to move over to the road seen a few pot holes
