Seems like he would be better suited to play a villain--like Joker or something. He's too unhinged and takes the character too deeply to play a square-jaw.
Chaibiskut19 He’s Rivers brother what do you expect??? Not diminishing him either by the comparison. Joaquin and River are / were both serious artists.
Chaibiskut19 Sorry hard to get tone in texts. Was not trying to be snappy just admiring the fact that they seem like a smart thoughtful family. Runs in the blood
I wouldn't be against it but it depends, if he had to commit to some kind of multiple movie deal that might stop him doing something more interesting I'd rather he not be involved. Superhero movies can be fun but the Nolan movies (Dark Knight in particular) are the only ones that ever reached a higher level than that to me, if something like that came along I'd kill to see him in that but otherwise I don't really care
+Dragonball4eva They can be fun, and someone like Michael Fassbender can do X-Men and more interesting stuff as well, although he seems to work more often than Joaquin so maybe Joaquin wouldn't find time to do both
He’s doesn’t need to do all comic book movies. Just look at his list Parenthood, Gladiator, Johnny Cash, Master and Joker. That he doesn’t want to do CGI movies or get fame more than any other actor just wanna be himself. He won an Oscar for Joker and doesn’t need to do Marvel movies or any other movie has special effects.
I like the interviewer and have nothing against him and it was a pretty good interview but why does every actor on the planet have to be in a superhero movie??? It’s like people find an actor and try to fan cast them as a superhero because there’s nothing else to acting!!!
I wonder what made him change his mind about "Dr. Strange". Is it because he had to commit to sequals? was there something else? Because from what I`ve heard Marvel realy wanted him. I even saw fans getting exited about it with fan art and theories. Maybe because he was given limmited space to develope the charecter? Who knows what goes on in that boys head, honestly. Anything is possible. In any case, I think it`s time for another trailer! Please...?
I think it was more of a matter of taste. maybe he found Doctor Strange isn't interested enough or he just didn't liked the concept of those movies.... you know they use load of cgi. also the fact that he is known for playing complex and more mature characters than light hearted... so it's makes sense that he choosed Joker
marvel movies are very commercial. and he was uncomfortable with the demands and press commitments that being involved with such a major franchise. he said he doesn’t want to commit to something and not fulfill those obligations. so thats why he turned down the doctor strange movie.
Star tracker So asking an interviewer to specify what he meant with his question fits your definition of “thick”? Your little add-on about him being high (which was completely unnecessary and more than likely far from the truth at the time of this interview) is pretty much all I need to know about your character. You sound like a patronizing douche bag.
@Star tracker, it seems that you're the thick one. Of course Joaquin has to ask what that guy meant, because at that point none of Joaquin's previous role has the potentials to be made into sequel. If the interviewer asks for a future movie that could be made into sequel, he should phrase his question differently.
I think its because Joaquin is more of a one-and-done kind actor like DiCaprio and Day-Lewis meaning that he is quite selective over his projects and isn't keen on doing sequels to his own films. But he may have changed his mind now because he is now doing the Joker sequel which comes out next year.

Crazy! You saw the future!! 😱
@Stella was a diver and she was always down I like your profile pic 👍 love björk ❤
Winston S. Bro you saw the future. He’s playing the joker rn!
Winston S. well well we’ll
OOMG you knew it you knew it!
He is genuinely intelligent. Lots of people try to "sound smart", but not Joaquin. He really is something special.
Chaibiskut19 He’s Rivers brother what do you expect??? Not diminishing him either by the comparison. Joaquin and River are / were both serious artists.
Ummm ok why are you getting all snappy? I know he is river's bro. smh
Chaibiskut19 Sorry hard to get tone in texts. Was not trying to be snappy just admiring the fact that they seem like a smart thoughtful family. Runs in the blood
If Joaquin Phoenix ever played a comic book superhero I would absolutely fucking lose my shit. He would elevate it to an as yet unreached level.
you were right but it wasn't a hero... it was a villain.
Hes so sweet and kind. You can tell he has a really big heart.
He sure as hell did find one appealing to him......he's gonna be a rockin Joker
He's already a real-life super hero. Just watch his documentary, Earthlings. It's here on youtube.
so true
Eye-opening documentary.
He finally found his character
2:17 is the part you came for.
now he’s playing a super villain 😂
His take on the joker will be great.
Give him a break. He is batman’s brother. Allegedly
J S He is kinda related to Batman lol...Joaquin’s sister Summer was married to Casey Affleck who is Ben Affleck’s brother
@@erina2027 and that makes Casey's/Summer's children the nephews of Batman and Joker.
Or a villian(i,m talking about joker 2019, who's hype for the movie?)
and you’re playing a super villain now, joaquin.
I think he was already getting ready for Joker when this interview took place
I wouldn't be against it but it depends, if he had to commit to some kind of multiple movie deal that might stop him doing something more interesting I'd rather he not be involved. Joaquin would be such an amazing comic book hero..wow
Laughs in villain
Cries in heroic-
and then he plaed el joker! gamers rise up!
Can't wait for The Joker I am sure he will nail it.
@V Nha 100%. Phoenix always disappears into his characters, but with Joker he outdid himself!!
val macclinchy Agreed.
Well. He is a super villain now.
I hope he never does a superhero film. They aren't engaging enough artistically and he is above that.
Dragonball4eva You seem like you're the kind of guy that enjoys the smell of his own farts .
Jonathan Morales Who doesn't?
+Dragonball4eva They can be fun, and someone like Michael Fassbender can do X-Men and more interesting stuff as well, although he seems to work more often than Joaquin so maybe Joaquin wouldn't find time to do both
+Dragonball4eva it depends on who's behind it. nolan did an interesting job with the dark knight ones
This is the guy who starred in Brother Bear, btw, which was hardly an "artistic" film.
Christian bale and joaquin the best today.
Add leo and we're good
He should play CONSTANTINE.
He is one mysterious man
All I hear is kenai from brother bear
* « Beautiful Stranger !! » 100% X3
This is freddie quell from the cause not joaquin phoenix
I like it that he's wearing a pijama

I dont want to know about this dude but everytime i open youtube app,his face is there.😶
JOKER!!!!!!!

Doctor Doom anyone?
Yep
Joaquin don't do a superhero movie.. you saw what happened to Jared Leto..
He's gonna be the next Joker. It'll be amazing
Think it's time you watch the Joker-trailer...
@@TheMongolat and the film. It's a masterpiece on every level, and Phoenix outdid himself.
i want him 2 play Hitman 😎
Money??
Nothing appealing yet, I can fix that... 🙂
He seems a bit thick. How could he not know what that guy meant when he said about revisiting a character? Unless he's high. Wouldn't surprise me.

Duh, it's called method acting
