Props to Joaquin for pointing out that nobody has questions for these three beautiful and intelligent actresses on the stage
to be fair, it's mostly the director who's in focus because most of the questions are directed at the philosophical side of the movie. Most of the acting-related questions were about Joaquin and Scarlett since they're the main characters and Scarlett wasn't there to answer the questions directed at her.
My fav.
@Richard Collier I mean...I also said they were intelligent.
@Richard Collier What?😂
No one cares. We're all here for Phoenix.
Joaquin's the man. People are always on his case, but the guy just doesn't like expressing himself much, I can relate. Yeah he's an actor and all, but he's good at acting, not interviews or Q & A's. It's really that simple.
Who can blame him when the questions asked by the interviewer and the audience are completely idiotic and don't make any sense
+fatalradius Sorry for busting in a year or two later, but I would imagine professional actors and actresses were more emotionally and socially secure, thus had more than average empathy and thus were more secure expressing intimate ideas or thoughts. This interview was kinda weird for me, since it was only the director, and partially Amy and Olivia, that seemed to want to talk about the film. Maybe they've answered these things millions of times before, but I understand this was a conference held shortly after the premiere or similar, so I somewhat doubt that. So unless they were worn out and just wanted to get out of there, I don't see why they wanted to react that way (even to the ill-prepared questions). Many famous actors seem to love to talk about themselves and their characters, as much as they can get away with sometimes. Kind of like the director here. But maybe you're right. Maybe it just is a personality type thing. It's just odd to me how a guy like Joaquin could ever get such big parts if he is really this awkward and insecure in public.
It's not that simple; interviews&promotion are part of his job as an actor and, as a Hollywood actor he is quite overpaid; some respect to the audience is due, I would say. We all do certain tasks as part of our daily jobs that arent really appreciated but we must do them if we want some cash by the end of the month. To me its not only about shyness or a lack of speech, but a sort of bad manners.
@@Muskar2 @Marvel Yana, maybe you should watch more of his interviews. He's actually a shy and introvert person, so talking in public isn't something he's comfortable with. I happen to have the same personality with Joaquin and have the bad luck of having a job that require me to often speak in public. So I could relate. Asking him intelligent questions that force him to think would distract him from the awkwardness.
@@anade76I respectfully disagree with you. Actors don't owe their audiences a thing except for good performances, which Joaquin always delivers.
Joaq is so intimidating that people don't know how to talk to him with out fear of saying the wrong thing...lol
😆😆😂😂😂
Don't know why people are intimidated by Joaquin, it's pretty simple...just ask intelligent questions and he'll answer..
@@freddiemercury4evr true
He is joker in reality too 😂
val macclinchy That’s not always true, he had some pretty good questions thrown his way on the Joker press tour that he just flat out didn’t answer. I think it’s either you catch him in a good mood or a bad mood. Obviously asking good questions helps, but doesn’t guarantee an answer.
This is the only film i can watch over and over again enjoying it all the time!
enjoy? .mm if you like to cry all the time.
good for you.
I can't do that. This may be one of my favourite movies of all time, and I don't want to risk losing the feeling I got the first time I watched the film.
TokyoKazama
haha same here, I don't know if I want to watch it often enough to the point I know what's going to happen next and loose the emotional link with it.... Like an amazing song that you just hear too much and end up being just another one in your collection... I'm sure I'll watch it again... but maybe in a few years... when my life is at another point, or If I ever feel like I'm becoming so used to a rutine that I forget about any existencial stuff.
Gabriel Mendoza Couldn't agree more.
So, have any of you watched it again?
I just watched it for the first time and I too don't wanna risk losing that magic of watching it with fresh eyes.. It was possibly the most beautiful film I've ever seen.. It literally changed me. Plus I don't want to feel that sadness again, at least not right now..
Spike is so down to earth and authentic. wow
Yeah it's scary. He's the opposite of what his movies are. He's seems shy and even i'd say adorable lol
Joaquin sounds so high xD but i'm convinced no one else could play the lead role better. That sheer raw awkwardness, and introversion, it's a special kind of mindset ^^.
Every one of these questions is like a fucking riddle.
Joaquin is a very talented actor and sooooo easy on the eyes…Loved him forever!
Joaquin kinda looks like he did in Joker in this video.
The reason I m here is because the 6 variety of legs
Watching JP light up every time Rooney talks
omg i noticed that too
Knowing that they liked each other back then and are now engaged makes this extra cute.
❤
@@Missjunebugfreak and now have a baby together, River!!
Joaquin is such a G. I love how he makes things so awkward.
***** Same here. Thats what i like about actors like him. its that mystery.
12:49 aww when joaquin teases rooney. its so cute that they are now engaged 😍
they were into each other already
What did he say to her? I couldn't here properly.
Alisa 03 he said something like “rooney, don’t do that. we flew you out here to talk” ... because rooney was shy ..joaquin also said “poor kid, she’s nervous” 😂
Very ironic that the movie has such eloquent and mind-blowing monologues and discussions and yet Spike and Joaquin are so inarticulate in this interview lol. I have a feeling Amy, Rooney and Olivia had a lot they wanted to say during this as well.
Goes to show that genius comes in very specific forms.. Spike is methodical in his work, he slowly develops beautiful concepts in his head, mulling them over to perfection. He can't just spit masterwork, he's definitely awkward and nervous when he has to be articulate in real time..
How is this ironic
Same thing I thought!
Amy and Olivia were easily the most articulate people in the whole room! Rooney = omg stunning.
Her is amazing.
People asking questions that take 5 minutes to ask and after they ask it, I'm like.. wtf are you on about?
I love how this shows that Actors,Actress and Directors are really just Human beings like the rest of us.
yea films never portray enough nervousness and awkwardness. such human traits
Joaquin is the ultimate troll.
The good thing about having a crush on Rooney Mara is that she is always in good movies
I’ve had a crush on her since I was 11 and saw her in the Nightmare on Elm Street remake😂 funny thing was that she hated that movie she almost quit acting. Thankfully she didn’t because she’s my favorite actress
Drives me mad when media folk say "talk about this." Fucking no. Have an actual question you want answered as opposed to just saying "talk about something for me."
Why? It's better to leave it open-ended so that they have more freedom to answer it however they want. When you give a pointed question, it restricts the answers the person's able to give.
i love how awesome joaquin is... the man is just sitting there, pocket full of fucks, and he's just not giving any...
Joaquin Phoenix is the sexiest man alive.
well not that river's gone sure
I must disagree, Ryan Schmit.
All I'm saying is I preferred river phoenix's looks, sheesh
Agree 100%--Have been in love with him forever :))
totally agree
A beautiful, daring, haunting love story. The first time I saw the trailer I found it really absurd. Little did I know it would become one of my favorite movies, maybe ever. Spike Jonez never disappoints.
This movie is brilliant and beautiful. Go watch it.
Rooney Mara looks like Loki sister
haha, you made my day lol.
its funny how I don't know who Rooney Mara is but I know who ur talking about lol
Rooney Mara is cute
Joaquín Phoenix rocks.
yes always does....
Ofc :)
I'm amazed of how sensitive and tender must Spike be, as he writes so tender, delicate script. Might'd got a bit help with it from somebody, but still the guy must've a lot of gentleness in himself. Movie is great, cause there are so many questions that you ask yourself after watching it- for ex. how the view of society and our own habit of perceiving relationship in specific way (way we've been thought or got used to) influence our decisions. We have doubts- "if it's right", even if we feel 100% happy. It's brave if we break a rule and discover pure feeling, we let the joy/happiness penetrate us, step into this with no doubts, even if there is no "Amy's" support or acceptance.
Joaquin is awkward in SUCH A SWEET/NICE way💗💕
The way people are asking their questions...I mean, I am very educated and I swear, I'm like struggling to understand their questions. It's like they all want to sound so smart that by the end of the question, you're like wtf?
+Jeanne Bastille But why isn't some of these professional insiders acting on them -turning them around, asking back or just say: " I assume what you really want to ask us is..... " and just answer them like they feel and want. I mean they are on stage - they are the leaders of this whole event up there, or not?
After having watched this brilliant film, then seeing them sitting up there, everybody trying to hide like little children, this is so unprofessional. After seeing that, probably no regular person has any more stagefright. THIS performance everybody can do.
+Theresa Mueller Totally agree with you. The whole thing is so awkward that I'm left wondering if the cast and the director even truly get along...Something feels phony about their attitude toward each other, I don't know. Weird interview from beginning to end imo...
The fact that Spike had helped make "Jackass" made me think he couldn't make anything so romantic and emotional, but when I watched "Her", I wished that it was real.
1:55 - Joaq's making Amy laugh.
😂
❤😊
Where is Scarlett?!?!?!?
Filiming iron man and making bank.
@Richard Collier johansson, duh. She voices Samantha
Filming Captain America and Lucy
@@taofeeqtijani6364 lmao oh wait yeah at that time she was with winter soldier Filmin
Spike seems like the best guy in the world.
This is pretty entertaining, to be honest. You can tell that the guys are a bit not used to the whole press-type environment or whatever, they just feel a tad awkward and silly. It's so fun.
This movie was BRILLIANT!!!!!!
johnnie rodriguez oh yes, should have beaten 12 Years a slave
First line Spike Jonze spoke and I was like; 'WAIT. HOLD. ON.' Googled 'Spike Jonze Wolf Wall Street'. Knew I recognized his voice straight away! He was a small role in Wolf of Wall Sreet. Awesome
Imagine if Scarlet was on the stage too. I wish I would have heard her input and perspective. After all, her character was the premise of the entire film, even is it was just a voice.
Everyone in the comments is overreacting. Yes they are awkward but there’s really nothing wrong with it and maybe people realize that not all actors have to be comfortable with these things.
Kind of funny how everyone in the audience is watching through their little screens.
It's just a great movie. It's so well written and so well acted that you believe the relationship even if the female love interest is not there (take that Twilight, Mortal instruments and 50 Shades) It looks like an art film, shot like an indie film, written like Shakespeare and garnished with Science Fiction... Plus the movie got me laid so that's always a plus.
Spike Jonze seems like he came straight out of Napolean Dynamite
You can tell many of those question asked for the filmmakers are very academical, whereas many filmmakers who were not in film school only bring their real life experience to the screen.
This was a good movie. I am glad Joaquin Phoenix continued acting. As strange as he is in real life I think he has a knack for acting.
im glad that you are glad for joaquin. Who knew that he will win and oscar
@@kareeenango3 lol And I am glad that your glad that I am glad he stuck around Hollywood. He impressed me ever since Gladiator.
After i watch the Joker and Her ..joaquin phoenix is straight on my top 5 best actors list… btw can u suggest any movies that have the same feeling as Her
after seeing The Master, I see Joaquin as an acting heavyweight, I still see his bizarre character outside of the film
Spike seems so cool and nice. Love his movies. Especially, Her.
This was an amazing film. Anytime you can make a movie about the future and make it somewhat believable is defiantly and accomplishment.
I agree with Olivia on the "baggage part." That's what I was trying to say the whole time, which is why there's less chance of constant argument.
Wow, Olivia Wilde sure ups the intellect in this exchange when she enters the picture.
I just seen it on my computer and the moive made me cry is a very good moive and her voice omg she had a very sweet lover voice i give this 10 star i love it
awwww! i love this director! he's always so gitty and he is crazy smart.
Pretty much every question was about the script, thus directed at Spike. I wish they asked more about the acting. Spike shouldn't have tried to deflect the questions on to the actors though, its not like the actors wrote the script..
14:34 Joaquin totally hypnotised him aha.
*I liked it.*
If I was an actor that would probably be how I answered questions!
Joaquin has his inherent vice hair
he he, yes he has.
i love the little video game character in the movie
I'm 99% sure that it is Spike's voice
Urashrimpimapimp It is him
"Fuck you, shit-head fuck-face. Get the fuck out of my face!"
An accurate depiction of a typical interaction with a pre-pubescent child over a multiplayer game.
Woah I remember ALICE! I was obsessed with the concept of artificial intelligence for a long while and I'm glad Spike remembers ALICE and made this film
Apart from Olivia Wilde, it seems that all the other actors don't care about the film or they can't be bother to talk about it.
*Why does the audience ask the most complex abstract questions that are impossible to answer lolol*
Voldemort It’s riddikulus
Avade banana!!
It almost feels like he didn't even make the movie, the questions barely get answered with any form of real substance and idea of 'i did this because i wanted this message'.. weird. but the movie is one of the best movies i have seen in years.
Joaquin looks bored shitless and I dont blame him
LOVE spike jonze, a true talent!
This is a really good example of people seeing something deeper than originally intended in art and media. It's obvious that Spike Jonze is such a fantastic writer that he's gotten to a point where he has developed this style that's explicitly devoid of subvert intention, while being deep and thoughtful upon further review. You can really see that the audience really wanted to go deeper into things that weren't written with the immediate intention of being deep, introspective looks at humanity and existence.
That’s the Joker we know and love
Thank you FSLC for putting this together. "Her" was my favorite film of 2013.
19:21 Amy Adams' expression when Spike can't really answer yet ANOTHER question.
And spike jonze sounds a lot like Edward Norton
Spike about Joaquin: "I think he's joking...?"
Me: " Oh you have no idea yet"🌚
i love Olivia Wilde! she seems pretty smart and witty.
hope she will get to play great lead roles, and have an amazing career!
* 17:36 / « The Smoker Joker » !!! 100% X3
Fantastic movie, everyone should see it!
3 extremely beautiful women in this movie...that should be enough to go and check this out! Joaquin is a lucky man!
What on earth is wrong with this audience? Are they scared of these females? Spike has to basically tell them to ask questions to the women. The interviewer should of had questions prepared and cut the audience out if they didn't diversify the questions to different people. That just seemed really rude to ignore all 3 of these lovely women.
22:58 that's AMYzing
JP makin faces at Miss Adams around 1:50
Ahhhh so awkward, normally a cast and director who's spent so much time with each other are super comfortable but these guys just aren't?
they aren't really putting on a show. that's why it's awkward. i for one think it's very charming
Dear me! Someone please show the interviewer how to ask questions and interview people!
i would like to be in the crowd so i could just ask gladiator questions
What happened to Joaquin here? He was funny, friendly, smiley, accessible (pero no mucho). In another conference of the film "The Immigrant" I felt sorry for James Gray, so rude figure that Joaquia did. Very, very, very anxious to see this movie. Spike Jonze and Joaquin Phoenix: just perfect!
Joaquin crush rooney 😆
And now they're together..😊
Joaquin looks so funny *** talking about HER
i think he doin gr..under d circumstances..terrible interview...
doesn't Amy Adams look like Pam from "the office"
and Isla Fisher
Amy Adams was in the Office for a few episodes
Tyler Morse ironically enough as Jim's girlfriend
caitlin bourke The characters even referred to her as a "hotter Pam" lol
oh yeah, she was selling purses, correct?
LOLOLOLO @12:50 what Joaquin says. I was laughing aloud😂
Love this movie and Joaquin is just beautiful.❤️❤️
olivia wilde is here even though she was in the movie for like 2 minutes
Because she is hot
+John Baker "naaah, she's fat" -Baby alien
KABLAM Olivia seemed the most cool about being there, and contributed more than the leads. Plus she 's hot ;-)
Yeah and her name is on the poster like she had some significant role
I think not having an avatar for Samantha helps the relationship be a completely emotional one. Having a beautiful woman might someone make it creepy and shallow.
yeah I agree
Where was Scarlett?
They didn't prepare at all to be interviewed about this movie.
I wish Spike Jonze was more well-spoken and like... capable of articulating a thought? I really would have liked to have hear more about the film instead of "um" and "i dunno" repeated over and over again. Thank god for the ladies who undoubtedly carried this press conference. Regardless, a wonderfully profound movie and a very talented cast.
Maybe he's best at articulating his thoughts through a script and film and that's okay
Joaquin? SOUNDS GOOD!
Man of few words 😄😄😄💗💗💗
You gotta love him💕
Omg the interviewer.... Could have had a fixed set of questions memorised at least lol.
16:26 Such a great answer to the question
I'm just watching this cuz Joaquin Phoenix is there :)
I thought Joaquin's chracter Theodore was going to comit sucide at the end... when he told Amy lets go on the roof did anyone else think that?
Yeah i thought so too
I think there are different ways of seeing the film. Everyone has their own perspective and ideas about this movie, no one sees it like Spike does. That does't make people's ideas wrong. I mean, Spike of course has his own idea about the movie and the significance of certain parts in the story, but people might look at those parts and see some other significance. That's kind of the beauty of it. Of course this story has a plot, and there are reasons for what happens and the way they happen, but not everyone will see it in those ways.
I love this film and cast.
I wonder how different the movie would be if the lead was a female and the computer was a man...
+NinyaChow That's what I was thinking and messaging to my daughter after the first minutes of the movie: "I also want such a personal OS1 for myself with a sexy male voice"
Thank you for bringing that up. I never thought of it with the reverse roles but as I ponder how it would be I think it would be interesting. It would in some ways be a different story. I would like to see that
And it'd be titled "Him"
Like this:
ruclips.net/video/6qE2wxDaVWY/видео.html
Someone really should've asked Spike what it was like to work with Nicolas Cage and Meryl Streep (but mainly Nicolas Cage) in the film "Adaptation." That would've been the golden question.
22:00 What Amy says is so true, I know people who are at a point in their life where it reflects what Amy's character goes through.
i like very much spike jonze´s work
Olivia Wilde is the most articulate of the bunch, it's a little awkward and needs a good edit/supercut... the result would be about 5mins of video.. if that :D
