My oldest brother died in 1986 here in America and I am still living in America. People are killed EVERYDAY ALL over the world. It can happen only if we get rid of the government who are selling out everything there from Airport, electricity company, ports etc. Within the next two years the only thing will be there are the people’s home will be sinking from digging up the land. The government owes so much to the Chinese it’s only a matter of time before they get rid of everyone and take over.

Even if there was a million people like this man, Jamaica would not be better. The only person can stop the crime and the selling out of Jamaica is the prime minister. He can stop the crime by introduce a crime plan and stop bringing the guns into Jamaica. The people don’t bring the guns . He has been introducing covid plan for the past year .He even went house to house , but not a word about the crime. The electric company sold last year, the ports , the airports and more. This gentleman can’t stop him from selling out everything.

Even though I have grown up in Canada, my heart is in JA. I appreciate all that Canada has given me but the idea of the JA government giving foreigners so much power in our country is very disturbing to me. How could that change? Do we need to help like minded youths to rise up into positions of power and influence? Yes, I think that's part of the solution. I have a cousin, trained as a Physiotherapist in JA but is leaving for the states so she can earn decent money. She's struggling out there in this field and that's so sad. Here in Canada, we invest in paying healthcare workers what they are worth. The mindset needs to be to educate and bring in investors who don't want to own JA but contribute to its ability to thrive!

Kudos to Mr Grizzle for speaking his mind always..even when it contradicts the politics of the day.
I want to echo Mr Grizzle’s statement that despite the crime, violence and murders in Jamaica, my observation is mostly, there are reasons and these acts are not random in nature. People visiting Jamaica with good intentions will be rewarded in kind. I believe the instant karma or vibe associated with Negril, Jamaica will protect you if your intentions are pure and honourable. People who step and associate with the dark side unfortunately find very quickly bad results.

I enjoyed this interview and was tuned in throughout the whole video. The question about crime was a very important one, expats or returning residents are easily identified by criminals and can become a target in the wrong area. I personally believe the current crime fighting system is in need of serious reform. However, while crime may be a concern, it's extremely important that we are not deterred and invest in Jamaica because we play a significant role in its progress.
Thanks for highlighting ordinary people who are doing extraordinary things. Keep up the good work!

Night after night of Michael Jackson impersonators on stage and I say, where's the reggae? You should both be guests on the "Irie Hour", a live show hosted by the Jamaica Tourist Board in Canada and showcase your beautiful resorts. Visitors want culture and Jamaican hospitality.

This was a great show. I see so many possibilities for myself as a career coach if I was to move to Negril especially if that high school is built. My biggest fear is the crime in Jamaica overall that I keep hearing about from those still living there or those who have recently left. Having left at 7 yr old to Canada and not visiting as often as I would have liked to, Jamaica seems a bit foreign yo me. But now, there is a desire to reconnect and relearn my roots. I’m encouraged to hear about short term rentals…. Definitely good for thought about visiting. Thank you again Thop! Enjoying your channel.

Start by going much more often, and don't limit yourself to where you're originally from, especially if it is currently a bad or just disadvantaged area. Stay in a regular hotel or bed and breakfast so that you can spend money to book yourself a driver for the week and plan to go to various open houses in parishes you saw on here that you are interested in and go take home and land tours, check out neighborhoods, talk to people who live there about what they like and what they don't like about owning a home there, how the utilities are there like water service and water pressure, electricity, phone signal, internet signal, and how they feel crime is in the community over the years.
And when you find a favourite area, start visiting there exclusively and getting familiar, even start practicing to rent a car and drive between airport and that area so you get used to navigating on your own. Just gradually get yourself back into life there so that when you finally decide to buy land or house, you don't feel like a fish out of water and you know the runnings (how things really work) in the specific area you buying in! It will also make it faster for you to make an offer from overseas if you are plenty familiar with the area the home or land is located in so that you don't have to buy a plane ticket just to make the offer. Use the next few years to re-establish your Jamaican identity, starting by going to any Jamaica tax administration office and applying for your TRN.

@@MontegoBayTechTalk thanks for all this great information! Are you currently living in JA? My background has been in Career Coaching, wondering about opportunities to be self employed in this field out there but as far as buy a place or just finding the right area to live, your advise has been very beneficial, so thank you. I need to start with visiting. My sister recently got married in NY but she plans to do a full wedding out in JA in Dec. 2022. I hope at that time to visit JA and do some exploring. If you live there, would love to connect. thanks again for the great info! I have to admit most of the feedback I've already gotten has made me a bit fearful. I've heard if you are successful, people want to rob from you. I don't want to generalize because I'm sure it only speaks to a small sect of people who do this but it's still a real fear. Any thoughts or feedback on this point would be appreciated!

We decided to buy a vacation property in Jamaica after meeting a visitor from Canada in Jamaica who went back to buy a vacation property there. My hubby asked why are we not investing more there and we are Jamaicans. Thats how it started.

@@mitziecharleston9941 I agree with you. I am all about nature and my parents are from there. The crime does not scare me one bit because they are just people like us and the devil is everywhere, so God can protect us anywhere we live if we trust Him. I really enjoyed this video as someone who loves to visit Jamaica. I’ve had the chance to meet locals, stay in various places and have a feel for the country. It reminded me a bit of my own motherland of India in a way; fresh fruit, warm weather and the kind nature of ppl. I would love to retire in JA at some point. It makes sense to invest in real estate as the country develops further. Love your vids Throp.

So glad I found this interview. I have always stayed at Charela when in Negril but never knew the background. My wife and I love lounging under the Palm trees while under the beach there. Usually we are on Grace Beach in Turks and Caicos for vacation because of its quiet peacefulness, but when we come home to Jamaica we come to Negril after spending time at our property not far from the Blue Lagoon in Portland. So happy to know Charela is owned by a local. I have friends who own The Polkerris bed and breafast in Montego Bay so the mrs and I are always rotating between there and Charela Inn. Great interview!!!
