He’s done that movement of pulling the coat up so much he had to patch that part on the coat. What I really love about John is how lovable and practical he is
His doctor has warned him against any more sudden movements
Just thinking same thing half way though vid.. 😅
hard to believe he was an ass, or so I hear
@@jlnino67it’s a serious job with serious consequences.
Hell yeah
I made the holster-too-quick mistake, my shirt pinched between the trigger guard and my owb holster on my hip, snagged the trigger and fired the pistol when it seated in the holster. The bullet hit my leatherman, a chunk of the bullet peeled off and deflected into my hip. Superficial injury, but opened my eyes to the care needed on holstering the gun. Great video John, thanks for the valuable content
This is why I personally like external/manual safeties.
Glad it wasn't a more costly lesson.
Holy shit, ouch
@@DThunderGunB I agree
@SteneWoodwork my stupid ass was shooting my 30-30 at some 1/2" thick mild steel plate targets I made for my pistol. My 30-30 with my cast 170grn bricks was just Swiss cheesing the plates. I ended up knocking my targets frame backwards and I noticed one plate landed still upright, so naturally Like a bad ass, I was going to knock it down with my last round. (Didn't think about how it was rested against the dirt) So I was about 30 yards back and I shot that 3x3 steel plate and instead of falling it dug into the dirt and I had a 150 gun brick splash me back in my forearm, and glance off my right shoulder. I cussed at myself and was checking out my forearm and it was scraped, but no hole. I was laughing back to the car my wide was sitting in it I put my rifle in the back and went to get in the car she said hey your bleeding, I asked where she pointed to my shoulder and I pulled an 1"x1/4"x3/8" sliver of lead stuck into my shoulder just a bit deeper that skin surface. It all came out in one piece. I kept that sliver of lead on my loafing bench just as a reminder, I got a ruptured 45ACP casing right next to it. Both lessons were thankfully learned at a cheap price.
So true. I recently requal’d @ my Dept’s range & the training guy was busting my ballz about my slow re-holster … I basically told him the only way I’m reholstering is after the threat has been effectively stopped anyway so what’s the rush ?
Guys in our place would say the same shit. Ignore them. John McPhee has fired more rounds at actual threats in combat in one day... Than both of our departments put together have fired at criminals in their entire existence.
Its like sheathing a samurai sword properly, the fingers guide the back of the blade, so you never insert the sword improperly . Great tip Sheriff.
Boosting the algo for big John.
John we need more videos from you!
I would watch stuff like this for hours. Thank you for sharing valuable knowledge in a world where it's the only true currency left.
Gotta appreciate this brother. Straight to the point, no cookie cutter bs
To be fair if people want to cookie cut this advice and repeat it, it wouldn't be a bad thing. Good advice is good advice whether it's original or repeated to death
@ no cookie cutter bs , means that he didn’t tell you the same bs every other channel is telling u. His info is informative, genuine n ones with real hand on experience. Definitely good if they repeat his advice
fully agree; aside from personal safety, there’s a contextual consideration: you’ve decided the scene has changed and you’re good to reholster…but if you’re a bit slower going back to the holster, you’re in a slightly better position to reengage the threat should you need to
Solid tips man! We all enjoy your longer videos. Keep up the awesome content man.
Great tip, keeping your thumb on the back slide when re-holstering. Thanks
My guy, I appreciate your no-nonsense instructional videos so much. Thank you!
I love the SOB leather holster 😀
Quality, comfort and sturdiness are 👌
By far my favorite commando and always solid info to think about
Gotta say I love the tac tips. Coming from a delta u can believe they work. I think u should make t shirts that read " you know what I mean" on the front and on the back "of course u don't" or "pray u never do"
Excellent info as always! I was taught to re-holster slowly all the time, EDC or open carry. It's not a "race" to put it away, one needs to be "deliberate" in the action of re-holstering every single time.
Thanks for sharing and enjoyed your interview with ShawnRyan
Outstanding advice from someone who’s been there and done that!!
Sheriff looking trim again! Great work man!!
Thank you for this content and your service. I love this channel because the videos are well organized, concise and no bullshit.
One thing I’ve incorporated into my routine is instead of trying to intentionally grab the bottom of my shirt I’ll just grab a fist full middle of belly just above the firearm. I started this because i noticed when I’m going quick at the bottom of my shirt sometimes I’ll snag on my belt or something goes awkward.
John is an absolute legend. Id sure like to take a course, or heck, just meet John. He reminds me of my Uncle so much, too. Keep up the great content 👏
Chaos EDC is my jam!
Good tips! Some commentary for opinions for the sake of the algorithm
1. Yes, we only holster after the threat is stopped. Holstering is a potential hazard and should be done intelligently to prevent a negligent discharge
2. Okay, I can see that as a tactile verification that the weapon isn't locked back, especially if unable to visually see the weapon I.e. when using night vision. I'd argue that you'll probably detect that your gun is empty visually and shouldn't be holstering an empty gun after defensive use.
3. Yup! Letting go of the concealment garment too early can potentially jam a draw.
I am guilty of a quick reholster and thankfully I have good videos like this to remind me. rock on John
Excellent safety tips
Thank You John 🤙
Thank you, three things I have never even thought about being mindful of 🤘🔥🤘
Thank you for all you have helped me and everyone else!
Outstanding. After a gunfight the last thing to do is reholster. When I practice drawing from concealed and shooting, I actually pull out my IWB holster after shooting and very slowly put the gun back into the holster before putting the whole package back into my waistband.
Good idea
Acknowledged. Thank you sir
shrek is so likable and is an outstanding teacher, hope to take one of his courses!
John you're lookin fit man, its great to see you more healthy. As always, you're dropping knowledge, thank you for the education.
Thank you for the advice
You've done a wicked job of getting back in shape. I know u don't need no pat on the back. But good work.
Good video, thanks!
You are a legend! Thank you for everything you do. Your videos are the best and i hope to train with you one day.
We love you John! Always great info from a cool dude and warfighter!
Had an instructor tell me “There’s no contest to see who can reholster fastest” He shot himself in the leg reholstering when he was younger so I listened lol
TY SIR, practical, really good stuff !!!
Thanks for the great tips Shrek. 👊🏼
Good. Thanks😊
Absolutely love your videos and energy!
Remember when the secret service officer was struggling to holster their weapon after the assassination attempt on Trump…
Because she wasn't ready to use it.
It wasn’t a Secret Service Agent. It was a DHS agent. Still, they’re supposed to be trained. She had cleared her clothing. She just wasn’t reholstering it slowly.
She wasnt fit for the job.
That was a training issue. Her mind was telling her the holster would be there, and it wasn't. She probably normally wrarst a uniform, which would explain why she was trying to put the gun back at the 3 o'clock, and not at the 5 o'clock. That was a classic example of muscle memory.
She had to move her fat lol. Women lol
One day I will get to train with you Jedi master! Thanks Shrek
Great tips!
👏 👏 Great Advice.
Basic but Fundamental !
👏👏👏
I still pocket carry my kahr pm9. I carry and practice israli style. The only issue I have is the rear sights poke holes in my pockets.
Roger, that great video!!
Fantastic-- Thank You !!
Question from someone with zero gun experience but lots of curiosity, what is the reason for bringing the gun close to your body and pushing it out rather than going from the holster to straight out?
good shit! more of these john!
Great points !!
Can you do a video on Pistol tips for lefties or honestly anything lefty related? A lot lacking in that department in youtube content.
He is a lefty. Keep watching 😉
Not sure what ya mean brother John is a shoots lefty. I’m also a lefty can use either and advise training in both. But it’s really no difference all the same movements just with whatever your dominant eye/hand is! Also John doesn’t read comments unfortunately I wish he did but he does have other ways of contact and that’s definitely going to be the best way to get some help with what you asked.
As a lefty, there's really no such thing. Learn to shoot. That is al
Great video!
Dope shit sherrif thanks for the knowledge transfer keep it up love your content
Thank you.
Clearing the material is a skill in and of itself so is reholstering ✌️🇺🇸
Thanks dude.
Great video. What is your opinion for a revolver for a retired LEO at almost 76 years old.
Great stuff
Imagine being at the range and Shrek is hunched over in a corner quietly smiling judging you.
Ty!
This was great, John!
Draw smooth, holster slow ! Think of the children 😂😂😂
@@Valkyrie-OD1115 I heard Nikki Ortiz talk about rounds ricocheting and killing children.. was this an army thing?
That’s right. Also in a real life situation you ain’t holstering up until the scene is calm and safe and then it’s definitely no rush.
Love the short videos!
Semper fi thanks
Thank you. 🙏🌄
Hey John. I really enjoy your videos. You should consider coming to South Africa to teach classes, the farmers here would really appreciate it.
I love the fabric behind the trigger while he's holstering at 1:35.
He was showing ways your slide could bind up dude..🤡
@@Dook-t4y False. Pay attention. Be less dumb. He already went through the clearing material description (Part 1). He was talking about the aspect of needing to thumb the back of the slide while holstering (Part 2).
Different subject, but, what about pistol laser sight?
Appreciate 0:52 all the videos of knowledge dude
Pannone has a good method of thumb against the body muzzle away.
How can you not love this guy!!!! no h*mo
You can even roll with him!!!! Also no h*mo just gotta be lucky enough he comes out to your gym.
Yeah he's pretty cool . Yes super gay
Actually, the only thing gay about the comment is asterisking the word
Well he’s kind of psycho..
Is that a PSA upper on that Glock 48?
I’m also wondering, curious on the reliability
Extended mag releases are amazing, just not when they protrude slightly from your holster. Pinch city!
Good stuff
We dont want no Cheddar Bobs 😂😂😂
I learned that in butler pensylvania 😂
Savage! In the best way possible!
Great common sense information.
If you have a glock, get yourself a gadget. It's a back plate that any movement of the trigger pushes up so you can feel if something is caught in the trigger. Cheap and effective and thumb riding the slide rear now serves multiple purposes.
dude gives out the best firearm advice without a single shot fired…
This SHOULD be common sense. But I know it’s not lol. Love this vid man!
Draw fast, holster slow. Simple.
GOD *** THE AUTHORITY AND CREATOR ****
The REAL John Wick ❤
This is the main reason I've carried the Beretta 96a1 with hammer decocker plus there the best shooting guns proven in every country in every decade get one
You the man !!!!!
Thanks sob! I need to train more
I'd add a fourth item. "Look" the gun into the holster.
What if you can’t use your support hand? Pull clothes up and pin with forearm then unholster?
Fuck me... great tips! Thumb behind the slide. What a concept, right. LOL Thank you.
I only holster my pistol the way Tex Grebner does!
All makes sense.
I never carry a striker fired, no safety pistol in appendix carry.
Double/Single, OK.
Hammer down thumb dreak strap over Hammer.
Mernickle IWB !
Train to "threat scan" before reholstering.
What pistol are you using in this video? Is it a G48?
when will SOB LEATHER HOLSTERS BE AVAILABLE AGAIN?
Training the off hand for the shirt is assuming your not gonna be needing it for anything. Which is a hell of an assumption. Use your gun hand thumb to hook the shirt on the way up and hey now you have an extra hand.
