Nice one. The hru at work is tweaked on the govner spring as well revs way to low factory. We also junked the flat blades n fitted 4 high lift blades better catching. Self drive in 3rd is way faster. I only use full noise in the wet n heavy mowing.
Excellent video. Was at my wits end arguing with the local place I take my lawnmowers for a service. I asked for them to increase the rpm for my 216 and they came back with all this crap as to why I dont need it and its fine out of the box. You saved me $100 and I learnt something new.
@@thegreenandgoldlife1464 I do have one question, by increasing the RPM of the lawnmower, is there any chance this could damage the gearbox and the blade brake gear?
@@SenorNavel I'm not sure as I think I mentioned that the engin should be safe at these RPMs but you would need to do further research. My thought is that there is a minor increase in risk of causing damage to secondary drive components.
An agricultural contractor I know who mows more than 8,000 acres of grass every year says - it’s not speed that cuts grass, it’s edge that cuts grass. A sharp blade on a mower leaves a good lawn without Formula 1 revs.
Hhhhmmmm🤔🤔🤔🤔. I see your point. Might be a good test. Correct me if Iam wrong but, isn't it the govonors job to increase engine revs under load. I'm gunna check. Hang on
It made a 100 rpm dif with blades engaged with a cold engine. Might look at it next mow. Might mean a little more tension on governor spring 🤙. Gotta be careful tho 3600 is Max SAFE operating if it's running at 3700 to be working at 3600 Might be OK, but probs out of recommended engine speed. 🤔
@@thegreenandgoldlife1464 the gxv can handle a lot more but 3600 is the max blade speed. People use The horizontal gx engines on go carts and ditch the governors just be diligent about oil changes. Anyway Dan a 100 rpm + or minus won’t make or break it , what you’ve done is a huge improvement 👍
By all means mate. Tune it to where ever you are comfortable. I found it super under powered and would rather risk a smoky engine than an under performing mower👍.

The little digital tachos are great to put on scotty B for RPM visibility and keeping track of oil service hours
Amen. Better than my method of waiting till the oil gets thick 🤣🤣🤣
Thanks for the tips Dan, I was literally just about to go and do this right now on my Honda. Perfect timing 👍
Gotta love it when a plan comes together 🤙
@@thegreenandgoldlife1464 That’s it man, enjoy ur weekend
I’m off to the shed now. Epic video mate. Made it simple to follow. Appreciate it mate 👍

Great tips there mate......looking forward to the video on how you removed the broken bolt as I have just broken 2 on my Honda GCV :o)
Cheers mate. Had a go off camera and cracked the housing🤦. She's bugged
see ya ron 😆
happy with how its been performing since the tune up?
Better with higher revs but, still too much mower for me
I check the revs with the blades engaged Danny but no doubt you'll see and improvement.

Awesome video. Great job
Cheers Jason. Gotta be slowing down at your end atm?
Yep,
And what does the service-manual say about max. RPM?
Didn't read the manual. There is a torque/rev curve
Nice one mate! More Power!
Tim the Tool man Taylor. Bloody love it 🤣
@@thegreenandgoldlife1464 haha wasn't sure if you were old enough to get the reference.

Becareful the blades dont catch that wire big Dan
Look out its a bad boy lol

Jimmy D in early 🤣
Great video mate. Your a smart guy. Great tips mate. My honda is in for a bit of one on one time in the shed tomorrow afternoon. Thanks mate
Cheers Jase. Yeah me too, I gotta sharpen blades and pull the reel outa the Scotty for sharpening
I personally wouldn't go over 3k as these engines like to start smoking if revved too high after a while

'Ere he is, late to the party
Ere e is....
Unreal have to modify a mower out the box stupid.
Ground speed change with the engine speed?
Yeah, performance has increased across the board 🤙
