Thank you from this 76 year old. I buy farm fresh eggs and always have a time peeling them. I will be trying this maybe tomorrow for my night time snack. God bless you from Michigan
Rachel, this is a great tip. I have been doing this for years now myself and it works great for peeling boiled eggs. I must admit that I live in a city, so I usually use store-bought refrigerated eggs, but it still works. The only difference is that I put the eggs in the pot with cold water, bring it all to a boil, and then turn off the heat and let the eggs sit for 10 minutes in the boiled water. They come out hard boiled every time. I will have to try your method of using hot water, bring it to a boil, and then add the eggs. I definitely use the ice bath afterwards. I think that helps make the peeling go more smoothly.
Thanks for the trick! I finally figured that out after. years of hating to peel them fresh eggs. I only have 8 hens now. I think the opossum s are getting them. So i have 47 bitties im raising now. My turkey mom is raising them. I lost my tom afew months ago and she was so sad, started laying and setting so i gave her some babies. She is so happy now. Thanks for the video. You should do more!
Hi Rachel, I tried you're method today and it worked perfectly, with fresh and one week old eggs. I didn't think I would ever be able to peel eggs so easily. Thanks for putting your video on the web.
Janine and I are trying this tomorrow morning, Rachel. We are headed to the Heart Of Dixie all next week on a Missions Trip and plan to take along some boiled eggs. Thank you for the video and info! Miss you all!!!!
After dreaming of having chickens for years, I finally was able to have chickens this spring. We have 12! They started laying in April. I love egg salad sandwiches and didn't know why my BEAUTIFUL eggs were so difficult to work with. Thank you so much! I am hoping your video solves my problem. 😀
Farm fresh verses store bought. You have to remove the eggs from the refrigerator and bring to room temperature before boiling like this or they break....still fun to watch and nice to get clean hard boiled eggs!
@@HiddenHeightsFarm Would love to see videos from you on how you store and use all the eggs you get :) I only get 4 eggs a day but it's only my hubby and me and we don't want to eat eggs everyday.
Thanks for the info. I like to take hard-boiled eggs to work. I work nights as a nurse and don’t have time to eat. I can grab a couple of eggs and it fills me up so I can keep going strong. You are very blessed with a beautiful family. Also a great homestead too.😁
Thank you so much for this video! I have never had any success at peeling farm fresh eggs. Now that I have watched your video Im going to collect some eggs, use your method and get to peeling :) Thank you!!!
That is insane how easy it was for you, I will have to try the boiling water start. I have been doing the cold water start and the ice bath and have pretty good results but not like that. My husband does peel them under water and has good results. It would be so awesome to have chickens and farm fresh eggs.
Rachel you just made my life easier omgosh,I sometimes have a nightmare peeling eggs,,GREAT VLOG AS ALWAYS,, HAPPY EASTER TO YOU @ YOUR FAMILY♥️🤗YOUR BABIES ARE JUST TOO CUTE♥️🤗
@@mrs.hiddenheightsfarm9119 Thank you we do those too and sometime a nice macaroni / tuna salad ( yes I know it's double protein- ha ha) very tasty. God Bless you all.
thats what i do 13 mins and ice bath then peel never a problem lol people over think too much and bye the way i seen your daughter and then her hand lol hugsssssss from Ontario Canada
I tried it with store-bought eggs, already boiled and refrigerated, and it worked!!! The key was patience and the rolling motion. I have tried peeling under running water, and chilling the eggs first, but the rolling is what did it, I think! Bless you! I can't believe that at 57 I've finally learned to peel eggs without demolishing them. Thanks a million. 😀
I love to save my dill pickle juice, especially Claussen’s, and put my boiled eggs in the jar with the juice and let them set in the refrigerator several days.. yummy pickled eggs..
Banty hens make the best mother's but they can be extremely broody as I seen that you know. I had a banty hen that would wait on the door frame till I come to do chores in the coop. When I entered she would ride all around while I chored and I had her get down on the roosts when I was done. That was great till I was away and my mom chored for me. That hen flew down on her shoulder and scared her half to death. Oops forgot to say great job on the blog. Larry
I add a little vinegar to the water. I heard that helped. IDK whether that's true or not. Although I don't put my eggs in an ice bath, I do crack and peel them under cold running water right after cooking. I think that thin membrane between the shell and the egg loosens up and slides off along with the shell because the egg is still hot. I think when the egg cools off completely in the fridge, that thin membrane sticks to the egg and makes it more difficult to peel. That's my take on it, anyway. You sure look like you're going to have plenty of chicks running around pretty soon. I look forward to seeing them following Mama around and chirping up a storm... lol. 🐣🐣🐣
Hi Kya! 👋 It must be different for store bought eggs cause if I don't put them in cold water to start they will crack and make a mess. Thanks Rachael, there beautiful. Jo Jo in VT
Step #1-Get a woman. (Preferably a smart woman like Rachael) Step #2-Tell the woman you want boiled eggs. (Ask nicely) Step #3-Have the woman peel said eggs. (Again ask nicely) Step #4-Eat eggs! Got it! Good idea Kevin. Great job Rachael and Kia.... Happy Easter!
I do it about the same way, except I just use cold water instead of ice, and usually roll the egg on the counter with my palm to crack the shell all the way around rather than between my hands. Basically the same thing just a little different technique. I love hard boiled eggs with just a sprinkle of salt and maybe a sprinkle of onion powder.
With all those eggs do you ever make pickled eggs? There are a lot of great recipe out there but I go the easy route... I buy my favorite brand of dill pickles and when the pickles are gone I poke a toothpick into the eggs a few times and put the eggs in the brine.
I used to just flick them back when I'd get pecked lol like CHIKEN IM JUS CHECKIN Also used to mark the eggs to be sure not to take any that are being sat on and limited it to about 4-6 a hen per season if any decided to incubate
Rachel that's awesome! Game On! I will be peeing these fresh eggs like a ninja 🥋❤👍Peek a boo Kiya lol. Edit: That's a mess of broodiness going on in that coup lol! Wow!! Thanks for this video. ~Pam
Thanks for the effort, but we gotta re-think about all the water going down the sink. Idk where your water comes from, but it can be a big deal most places.
I buy all our eggs from WalMart, and peel them with no problem. I get the water boiling before carefully adding the eggs, then once cooked I drain the hot water, add cold and wait a few seconds, then drain and put in more cold water. Immediately peel the eggs and the shells come off in entire sections with no sticking to the white. Works every time.
Ever tried the cook to boil method? Easy and no touching hot water Eggs in the pot first Cold water in second On the heat till a rolling boil Dump the water and fill with cold Never over cooked an egg that way since I learned it
Broody Mamma hens say "Don't touch my clutch" ha ha. We hard boil our eggs in an IP. Will not boil them on the stove top ever again. Add three inches of water to the IP and put eggs into a steam basket lowered into the water. Once the IP comes up to temp the Bantam eggs cook 4 min and large eggs take 5 min. I can fit 19 bantam eggs in the basket. Put them in cold water and peel. I hit top and bottom like you do then gently roll them on the counter top and the shell comes right off. Well worth trying if you have an IP.
I've been buying farm fresh eggs, unwashed and for the life of me cannot get the eggs out of the shell whole................I love deviled eggs and sliced eggs in salads and tuna salads,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, but I m at a loss...................I just boiled up 4 more...................w/salt and baking soda..........................I'll let you know.........................

They were already pretty clean. I didn't shave to clean them off before boiling.
