If you want to be tested and are looking for an adventure, join the Marines. If you want just a job join another service. I spent 28 years as a Marine and retired in 2006. There are great moments with buddies that you will never forget. However, there are also things that can happen during combat that can test your soul and character. Be sure this is what you want. This is a good brief for young students that are trying to figure out how you want to start your life. Semper Fi!
Great advice! I'm 18 in my senior year of high school with a part-time job and have wanted to be a Marine for a good four years now. I've talked to multiple branches but the Marines have the highest spirit. I'm concerned about basic PT as I'm overweight but I've hired a personal trainer and began trying to eat better as well as watching many of yours, and related videos recently for guidance and learned a lot. How do I become better at having a higher endurance and knocking my weight down?
I joined straight out of highschool at 17 yrs old. If you're worried about your weight you will be fine. Loosing weight comes naturally. Your body will adapt. What you have to focus more on is training yourself to never give up. Mindset. Mind over matter. Marine corps is very physical but more mentally demanding.
I've seen alot of channels about Marines, this is one of the best. IMO. The advice is solid. Most have a negative vibe. I'm a Marine vet, my son is active now. He was fortunate to have the correct mindset and guidance from me prior to enlistment and of course ongoing. Most don't, for what it's worth, I highly recommend this channel. I know I'm late to the party but it just showed up in my feed.
I currently am considering joining the marines. I have always been a warrior played football and was a team captain on the wrestling team, I also box. Personally it’s not a will to defend my country but a personal want to go to combat and fulfill my role as a warrior

Thanks for the great vide! I'm 17 in my senior year and I've wanted to be a marine for a few years now. My biggest concern is basically all the PT stuff, I'm pretty average when it comes to physical strength but I suck at running. What would be your advice to get better at running or more physically fit in general?
Thanks for watching! Simple answer would be just to do more of it. Honestly, when it comes to working out and running you just need to be consistent. Set goals and get them done. With working out I’d recommend body weight exercises mixed with some weight training. As for running, I would just work on doing more of it. Run for distance, but mix it up. Work on a mile and overtime work up to three miles. Do sprints as well. There are plenty of free running programs out there, but what works for me is just throwing in some headphones and getting in my head and pushing through it. Hope this helped!
I, too, was a short guy not good at running, but I practiced enough to make sure I always finished. And even though I only made Marksman on the rifle range, I excelled at everything else such that I graduated in the top 10% of my platoon, to earn the rank of PFC. Look at a lot of Marine graduation videos and take note of the people in the ranks. The vast majority are just typical people of typical size and ability (but also meaning they are neither super jocks nor fat-boy couch potatoes). The main thing is if you're in good physical condition with no medical problems, YOU CAN DO IT. But more than ANYTHING else, I attribute my success to, "I WILL succeed or die trying. Failure is not an option." Marines are average people who the Marines transform into outstanding, fearless warriors. That's THEIR job. YOUR job is to allow it to happen by never quitting. Good luck.

Hey! Im 17 yrs old, graduated high and set to ship May 9th. Im fine with everything except the Mos situation. Ive been told plenty of times that there is a chance I wont get the mos I want (Combat Engineer). That’s the only thing that worries me.
U signed up 2 days ago I'm 18, a senior I want to join because I want to test my physical and my mental also it runs in my blood everybody in my family was in the Marines, army, navy, etc
Hey, I’m 16 and turn 17 in February. For the past 5 years I’ve had no idea where my life is going, recently I’ve felt like God might be calling me towards the military but I have no idea who to direct my questions to. My biggest thing is whether I should join the army or the Marines. Im going to graduate I’m a junior in high school right now and am planning on graduating early the end of this school year. I would like to know your opinion on my situation and what you think I should do.
Dude, any questions you got I’d be more than happy to answer them. Obviously I’m biased to the Marines, but the Army isn’t bad either. Just depends on what you want to do. I think becoming a Marine is something you know you want to do. It’s a proud title to hold and that’s one of the reasons I opted to join. I thought of the Marines as the toughest branch and that’s the route I went. For you it all depends on what you want to do. Life’s short and if you’re thinking about joint I would say go for it because you will regret not doing it at some point. It’s only 4 years and you’ll get a hell of a lot of lifelong benefits out of it. Good luck on whatever path you choose and don’t hesitate to reach out! Also, join the Discord Community!
I just got out of the Army as a forward observer from an Airborne unit, loved the higher level of discipline and skill paratroopers have but like the rest of the Army it became soft and undisciplined. Not just at the team levels but higher up as well. I’ve heard about Marines going Army but not the other way around. I know I have to go through boot. If anyone did the army to marines change, please lmk what your advice is.
I’ve got quite a few buddies that went Army after the Marines. Never knew anyone who did it the other way around either. I’d recommend going officer route man. I’d hate for you to have to start back over at the bottom.
I knew a couple of guys who did it. They were older than everyone else. The USMC is a younger force than the Army. E-7s run the Army. E-5s with an attitude run the Corps. It will be a much harder adjustment than you think. I loved being a Marine, but I was 17 when I joined. 20 when I made E-5 and 22 when I got out. For you it might be like a prison run by teenagers. Do your research. Good luck.
I’m talking to my recruiter now and this Saturday I’m willing to sign the papers. What would you say is the most difficult thing you did the first year in the marine corp (physically)?
Honesty, just adjusting to being at the bottom of the totem pole lol. There’s no life like a junior Marines life! It’s definitely fun and you’ll look back on it and be thankful that you did it, but get ready to be everyone’s bitch. Just don’t be a dumbass, lazy, or a whiner and you’ll be good!
You are so underrated! I’m 16 in my junior year I’ve been doing bodyweight exercises and I’m wondering if I should keep doing them or should I do lifting instead or both? What is best for the marines? Thank you for the very helpful videos and thank you for your service!!
Thanks man, that means a lot! Just trying to give advice I wish I had when I joined! I would recommend doing both. With the weight lifting I wouldn't worry about getting too crazy with it. Get as crazy as you want, but do it safely. Just try avoiding injury, obviously. Work on good form, slow and controlled movements. Focus on good repetitions as opposed to just carelessly throwing around weight! I love incorporating weighted body weight exercises. You can use a weight belt to hold the weights between your legs for pull-ups or hold a dumbbell in between your feet. With pushups, try throwing a plate on your back. Same with crunches or hanging leg raises. I love getting creative with shit. Hows your cardio?
@@ForTheCorps Thank you for the reply and tips I will 100% use and right now I workout 4 days a week and on my “rest days” I run for about 30mins I am hoping to increase that as my stamina gets better

My Son Left for MCRD San Diego yesterday! Got the phone call last night. Oooorrraaahhhh! On the subject of some guys who hated being in the Marine Corps. I personally loved my time in the Corps (1982-1996) I did notice that the ones who hated being in were because of Fucked up NCO's. I was lucky. I had awesome Corporals and Sergeants in the FMF (2nd Mar Div) who cared about their Marines. When I was in Mess and Maintenace in boot camp I worked with an awesome SGT. He could have dogged the crap out of me, but he treated me with respect because he knew I was a scared recruit and didn't take advantage of that fact! When I picked up rank, I aspired to be just like them. But I did see power hungry Corporals and Other NCOs in other platoons who abused their rank and turned what could have been Great Marines into bad ones who couldn't wait to get out!
That's awesome man! Don't be nervous! The hard part is over with. Now begins the fun... Just be ready to PT! Join the Discord man! Plenty of people in our Discord Community are considering Infantry and you could be a huge resource for them! discord.gg/8TpJpDFhZq

I am preparing myself by going to The gym with my recruiter but I know he knows I’m gonna die 😂 I’m 6’2 and 175 so I am hoping I can get at least 15-20 more pounds put on by the end of boot
I am planning on joining in 2024 why wait long because I want to know what I’m getting into also my grandfather was in the marines I want to follow been on my mind for years
@@therealapexpredatoro_o7150 Just start studying man! I mean it really comes down to how bad you want it.. When I was looking to join, I wasn't letting the asvab hold me back.
I’m really having trouble debating between the marine core and Air Force, I’m not the fondest if the ocean, long term I want to be a pilot. In the meantime I’m kinda thinking some kind or air assault or paratrooper. I want to travel, don’t want a desk job. Any advice? And I’d probably go enlisted for a bit before I go officer. Also I feel I should point out I hate bugs, I have no problem with the outdoors, I love camping, but I hate bugs/insects.
Honestly, I think the age cut off is 28. There might be an exception to the rule with some type of waiver. I knew guys that enlisted at 28 and they had families. They just realized later in life they wanted to do it. Go talk to a recruiter and see what your options are man.
I met with a recruiter last week and signed some medical release forms. Curious as to how those docs my comeback to bite me. I want to join but i want to avoid any slip ups
I’m deciding between joining the marine corps reserves or the army national guard while I go to college. As of right now I eventually want to make a career out of the military once I graduate, but I can’t decide between doing the medical job I want in the national guard, 68w, or becoming a marine and experiencing what comes with that. I would appreciate any advice anyone could give me.
You’ve got till 28 my man. If you want to become a Marine go for it. Once you get that feeling it’ll never leave you. You’re on a time crunch though so hurry up!
Hey sir , recently just learned there are tons of jobs in the military. And was wondering if you were to join the marine corps would that mean you would have to to go to combat? Or are there other jobs that you can do and help and support the marines that don’t go to combat front lines??
Is it still worth doing Military Police in the Marine Corp?? Because I heard that the Government has been getting rid of some jobs in Marine corp MP. I am curious so in case I need look into other MOS's in the Marine's.
That's something you'll have to ask your recruiter. I know they were going to deactivate all three law enforcement battalions, but I'm pretty sure a very small amount of individuals will still hold the MP MOS. You may have a shot, but I would not bet on it. I would still look into other options just in case.
Man I always wanted to earn the title of marine ever since I was little but during the current circumstances and political bullshit of our country, I might just go into reserves and pursue firefighting. Only reason to become a marine is to see combat and be one of those people, badasse but heard from recruiters they didn’t see combat and during peacetime infantry is not worth it so there’s that.
Hey Tony, I am currently 17 years old and I what to join the marine corps, and I was wondering if there is any advantages of going to college before joining if I don’t want to be officer.
Depending on how much college you have under your belt you can potentially graduate basic training as a Private First Class (PFC), but I'd save the money and just try and get that promotion meritoriously. I was promoted meritoriously out of basic to a PFC. You also will get promoted to PFC regardless about 6 months in. It doesn't hurt to have college under your belt though. You can use tuition assistance while you're in which will pay for your schooling, but its all done in your free time. I would save the money and have it paid for if you don't want to become and officer.
Trying to decide between joining active duty Army infantry or active duty Marine Corps infantry. It's a tough decision because I love the history of both branches of service. Both have produced some incredible warriors. Army is giving big bonuses so I'm leaning towards Army honestly. I'm planning to be a career Soldier or Marine and do 20+ years. Any insight? I'm 27 years old if it matters. I just fear that if I don't join the Marines first, I'll always live with regret that I didn't earn the title or something, because Army has a higher age cutoff, would be able to keep rank, and wouldn't have to repeat basic if I went Marines>Army but it would be much harder going Army>Marines. Because ideally I would like to do both
If you're not ready for all the fuck fuck games, shit talking, death runs and early morning pt, and getting treated like shit on a day to day basis then yea, I'd say the Air Force is the safer bet!
I proudly served in the Marines 1984-1988. The best days of my life and I am so glad I did it. However, if you asked me today, I would say hell no. I would never serve under this Evil Administration we have in office now.

Hey! Im 17 yrs old, graduated high and set to ship May 9th. Im fine with everything except the Mos situation. Ive been told plenty of times that there is a chance I wont get the mos I want (Combat Engineer). That’s the only thing that worries me.
Why are they telling you that? I mean at the end of the day you don't have to sign the contract unless the job you want is guaranteed.
How you been?
U signed up 2 days ago I'm 18, a senior I want to join because I want to test my physical and my mental also it runs in my blood everybody in my family was in the Marines, army, navy, etc
Awesome man. Don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions! Join the Discord if you haven’t already!
Don't do it go in the air force it's the same pay and the promotions are faster
What was the process 🤔 when you signed up?
@@jeff9814 not everybody does this for tangible reasons..
I need advice. I want the brotherhood, I want to fight, I want to do something that matters. My family would kill me if I told them I was considering.
Do it for you, not your family. Your family should support your decisions.

But I did see power hungry Corporals and Other NCOs in other platoons who abused their rank and turned what could have been Great Marines into bad ones who couldn't wait to get out!
i ship out February 22, 2022 !🔥
That's right around the corner! If you have any questions or anything else don't hesitate to reach out!
I check into the school of infantry today, I’m kinda nervous 😅

I’m 19 and really want to get into the marines any fitness tips you can share I’m not to athletic but am trying to go into the marines in a few years if I can get better into shape
this video helped out so much!!
I’m glad man! Thanks for watching!
Unfortunately Im graduating at 19 years old next year but I called up the marine recruiters near me and they said it would be best to finish high school and obtain my diploma. I cant wait though, thanks for the video.
I feel ya man., I graduate this year at tge age of 19. I shipout to bootcamp on june 13th
grear vid , but please up the resolution bro.
Thanks man. I actually bought a new camera, so the resolution should be much better moving forward!
I want to join the marines but my mother and grandpa don’t want me to join..they are veterans themselves but they were in the Air Force.
I’m in the same boat my whole entire family doesn’t want me to join and it’s hard to make a decision and figure out what I really want
At the end of the day, it's your life. Make your own decisions. My parents didn't like me joining either but they eventually accepted it and were supportive.
Looking at these videos, been thinking about it since I was 18 22 now I want to join but what’s really stopping me

I just got my birth and social turned in just gotta get my diploma faxed over from my high school. I’m prepared to leave my life behind and start this journey I’m 23 m with a really good mindset but I am gonna find god during boot camp. I am preparing myself by going to
The gym with my recruiter but I know he knows I’m gonna die 😂 I’m 6’2 and 175 so I am hoping I can get at least 15-20 more pounds put on by the end of boot
How late is too late to join? I’m a single 28 year old FedEx driver slob and I need a challenge. I never had adversity or a real challenge in my life.
28 any older you’ll most likely need a waiver .go speak to a recruiter dude!
I am planning on joining in 2024 why wait long because I want to know what I’m getting into also my grandfather was in the marines I want to follow been on my mind for years
Whats going on Tony what is your take on going in as a older person
I have wanted to join for awhile now but I gave up because my asvab score is to low pt stud tho if only that's all it took
Haha what did you end up getting on it? I wouldn’t let that hold you back.. a little bit of studying goes a long way.
25 percentile after I studied for a few weeks. I am going to start back up tho lol
@@therealapexpredatoro_o7150 Just start studying man! I mean it really comes down to how bad you want it.. When I was looking to join, I wasn't letting the asvab hold me back.
Will do man, thank you for your time

shipping out in september
im thinking of joining the marines in 2 yrs but i heard that theyre taking off the job i want (military police) is that true or not?
They have a small detachment, but yes, the MOS has shrunk significantly.
Is it possible to enlist or a way to enlist from outside US.
If someone knows please help
I like the idea of being a officer in the marines but I don't know if I want to go to college I got accepted I'm 17
Could always enlist, go to college while you're in using tuition assistance, get your degree and go through the enlisted commissioning program.
Air Force had better everything and is easier…..Good Luck! I’m a Marine by the way.
Is it out of the ordinary to have someone who just turned 30 try to enlist? Would it be a waste of time to talk to a recruiter?
Honestly, I think the age cut off is 28. There might be an exception to the rule with some type of waiver. I knew guys that enlisted at 28 and they had families. They just realized later in life they wanted to do it. Go talk to a recruiter and see what your options are man.
@@ForTheCorps thank you for the help
I met with a recruiter last week and signed some medical release forms. Curious as to how those docs my comeback to bite me. I want to join but i want to avoid any slip ups
Let me know how it goes man.
Don’t sign anything. Technically you got until you step on that bus than that’s that.
Is it too late to join the marines at 27 or would it better to join a different branch?
You’ve got till 28 my man. If you want to become a Marine go for it. Once you get that feeling it’ll never leave you. You’re on a time crunch though so hurry up!
Hey sir , recently just learned there are tons of jobs in the military.
And was wondering if you were to join the marine corps would that mean you would have to to go to combat?
Or are there other jobs that you can do and help and support the marines that don’t go to combat front lines??
There’s a bunch. Admin is the one that comes to mind as far as it being pretty unlikely that you see combat
@@ForTheCorps Alright got it, Thank you very much for the info👍
@@boltgamer7 Anytime!
Also im 27 joining as enlisted. Should i reconsider?
No man, if it were me I’d go Active for sure! Active Duty is way different than reserves. It’s a great experience.
Thanks for the help. Also thank you for your service:
No problem at all and thank you! Let me know what you end up deciding to do. Feel free to reach out whenever.
❤❤Hi interested,but how can I locate you
Can i do less then 4 yrs?????
How often are you in combat
That will vary largely on you MOS. Majority of Marines will never experience it. Especially today, since we aren’t at war..
The halo lifestyle
My grandpa was a marine my dad was a marine.. I can’t end the legacy
Because ideally I would like to do both
😍
All marines will tell you this join airforce
If you're not ready for all the fuck fuck games, shit talking, death runs and early morning pt, and getting treated like shit on a day to day basis then yea, I'd say the Air Force is the safer bet!
I would not recommend joining the service under the current administration.
I proudly served in the Marines 1984-1988. The best days of my life and I am so glad I did it. However, if you asked me today, I would say hell no. I would never serve under this Evil Administration we have in office now.
Yea there is alot of crazy shit going on right now. My buddies tell me the Corps is nothing like it was just 8 short years ago! Semper Fi, brother!
Is that gta San Andreas bro
haha Lost a bet with my buddies! Still had to get the video out there! That is one of my favorite games btw.
Don’t not worth it
Definitely not for everyone.
