We have a government in which a Congresswoman can disappear for 6 months or more and end up in a rest home for Alzheimer's and still have her Congressional seat with full pay, have her Congressional office at home funded even though it is closed and it seems nobody notices she is not showing up for work or doing her job. The party who installed these safety nets, Social Security, Medicare are the Democrats, no single Republican has ever been for the good of all American's, they hate safety nets and all they want is more money for themselves and their billionaires who have bought and paid for their tax cuts for the rich and cuts across the board in any social program that actually helps people. I do wonder where those people's money goes? I think it just stays in the social security pot of money. Technically, we, now at this point in time, are actually living off the generation who came before us. What we are contributing now is for the future generations. When we pay social security it is not in a special account marked "Joe Schmo social security amount". ALL SS money is just pooled together in one account (the trust fund). When people die, I have never ever known of anyone who got a check from the deceased account as repayment for the years they contributed.

I retired from the state after 30 years and received a safety state pension. So I get a small amount of SS even though I paid into SS for almost 40 years and 7% into retirement. Why can't I receive my fair amount of SS ?

Those beneficiaries already fully contributed to the system, and had a large portion of their money stolen from them. That stolen money should still be in the system…You can dismiss this as unfair, but if a portion of your fat earned government pension was stolen I am sure you would see it very differently….The person who doesn’t understand it is you! These are folks that paid into Social Security for decades, such as myself, and were told that, thanks to the Windfall Act, their spouse would not be entitled to half of their SSA benefits. Does this make sense to you? Most, if not all, government employees who receive pensions have survivor benefits. At retirement age, he started drawing an insignificant amount of SS because of the" Windfall EP". When he retired from the school system 14 yrs ago, he started his next profession where he continues to pay SS. This person feels that the $$ paid into SS is waste compared to his own retirement portfolio.

He tries his best. Some answers are just not as easy to answer because of the depth of the question. People want a long personal answer and he just can't do that. He clarifies the SS rules and tries to tell people the way they have to go to get the money they can get under different rules people don't even know about. He speed talks sometimes because he really, really wants to get the info out to people. He does read the questions. Some are just more complicated than a 30 second answer. Sometimes there are hundreds of people in chat and he has to sort through what is a question and what is just a statement someone wants to say. He needs someone to help sort the questions from statements. It's hard to get to all the questions because of the statements. I feel bad for him sometimes because you can see he he is scanning as fast as he can. Also because new people come in every night (LOTS of people have found his channel) sometimes the same question is asked over and over but new people don't know that. Bless his heart, he truly tries to get as many answered as he can. He has a life, and he literally could get caught up for hours if he doesn't put a time limit on himself. It's too bad there are not other social security managers who don't team up with him and make their own channel so it is not all on him. I swear social security really doesn't want people to know how many way they can collect more.

Social Security will be around but there are major changes coming. There will be reductions in benefits and increases in the retirement age. Furthermore there will be a Means Test clause coming in the near future. Which means, if you have retirement assets above a certain level you will not receive social security or a very reduced benefit. I am certainly not counting on Social Security for my retirement.

More and more people might face a tough time in retirement. Low-paying jobs, inflation, and
high rents make it hard to save. Now, middle-class Americans find it tough to own a home too, leaving them without a place to retire.

I completely agree; I am in my mid 40s, approaching retirement, and have approximately over 2million dollars in external retirement funds. I am debt free and have very little money in retirement funds compared to the total value of my portfolio over the past three years. To be honest, the Fin-advisor can only be neglected, not rejected. Just do your due diligence to identify a fiduciary one.

This is exactly how i wish to get my finances coordinated ahead of retirement. Can you recommend the financial advisor you used to get ahead?

Finding financial advisors like Annette Christine Conte who can assist you on things like investing, insurance, making sure retirement is well funded, going over tax benefits, ways to have a volatility buffer for investment risk would be a very creative option. There will be difficult times ahead, and prudent personal money management will be essential to navigating them.
