Jake is a much bigger name than KSI in the sport of boxing and has called out McGregor numerous times. Plus he beat Nate just then.

Lol and you don’t understand why? Who is KSI and what has he done in boxing? Nothing. So McGregor calling him out just comes off as him as looking for an easy win/pay day. On top of that, he called him out to a bare knuckle boxing match which puts KSI at an even bigger disadvantage.
Now, you can always go with the typical response and say, “But Jake only fights retired MMA fighters!” Sure. They’re still professional fighters though from McGregor’s own sport and he beat all of them. So of course McGregor would be reluctant to take that fight considering Jake already has beat legends with the same background as him. He’s also lost a lot of his last fights and losing to Jake Paul would just hurt his career even more. Especially if he loses before making his comeback in the UFC.
The only reason he’s calling out KSI is so he can get a safe win, a boost in popularity amongst a different demographic, and some easy money.

It's not so crazy when you consider Conor has been juicing and need 6 months of testing before he can fight in the UFC again. He can fight in this promotion without that much advanced testing and fighting KSI would be a way for him to prepare for his return to the UFC. There aren't that many options for him to choose from, so going after KSI isn't that surprising.

Keep in mind, not kust was it the split. One of the original reasons why Conner was allowed to do boxing by Dana was because at the time it was believed MMA striking was much closer to the level of a professional boxer than it is. Therefore they thought conner with the pound for pound best left in MMA had a chance that he could beat an old retired Floyd. It rapidly became apparent this was not true at all and Floyd an exceptionally weak puncher in boxing was throwing quite significantly harder punches than Conner was and that's just the start. Therefore cross over is not going to be allowed to stop this from happening again and also with the amount of money it made not allow for UFC fighter retention to drop dramatically due to the higher pay in boxing.

I'm 31 and one statement was a huge lightbulb moment for me that I've never thought of. When wade talked about MacGregor as a coach and pointed out the move isn't to have him as a coach...but the guys that coached him. Conor, we see out the rest of his contract. If he does well, it'll keep going because Conor will want to leave on top. If it goes poorly, he'll get let out, and by that point, it'll be too late to fight KSI.
