Just got my first CPAP machine (Resmed AirSense 10) and, word of mouth, led me to your site - Sleephq is a brilliant resource and I've uploaded/viewed my data. Nick, you and Adsy, should be applauded for the way in which you have designed and present your information, from the most basic to more advanced levels - all in the name of helping us have more control of our health (sleep and more). Well done and thanks.

I mean I do not drive so doesnt affect me. But lary ive dtopped 11 to 10 api is down 2.8-2.9 to 0.8-1.6 =)
Struggling and exhausted. My mask keeps me up every night because it leaks and blows air on my face and in my eyes. Thank you for posting these videos. I am hoping to find a solution.
G'day Mike, lot's of people have problems with mask leaks. The number one enemy is air pressure though so make sure you fine tune those therapy pressure levels as low as possible - here's a video how - ruclips.net/video/pL4egwDrvbg/видео.html
Omg really. Well shes shallow to be shitty just over aur blowing in her face. My pug loves it she sit on my chest in the morning. Its like a free fan to her lolllllllll
I am a new CPAP user. I find your videos to be helpful and informative. I was leaking last night. I got frustrated and took it off for a while. I think that I will have better results tonight. Thank you so much.
Hi Marla, thanks for your kind words. Glad you find the videos helpful :-). The therapy can be very difficult for new customers but glad to see you are being proactive and learning how to make the therapy easier and more comfortable. Let me know if you ever need any advice or assistance. Nick :)

I’ve been for a week into the cpap therapy, and it has been very frustrating. My mask is an f20, but I’m a side sleeper, so any time that I go to deeper stages of my sleep, the mask looses it seal and you find yourself with a bunch of air going to your eyes and with a bad noise. After that it’s really difficult to sleep again, so you feel frustrated and tired. I feel very tired and thinking about changing my mask for an f30i, which is designed for side sleepers. Thanks for the videos and for sharing the information, it helps with the process of getting used to the therapy.
New CPAP user as of last Thursday. Very frustrated by the entire process. Love your informative videos. thank you. My F&P hybrid full facial mask is great since you helped me learn to manually adjust temp and humidity. I also learned how to settle this mask to help me breathe and seal. Thank you again. Leaking is being figured out (noisy), but, am experiencing less ahi under 3. Key is finding our best sleep while managing our apnea. Thank you.
300lbs+, beard & moustache, Philips Dream Station, set to 13.5. I use the Amara View "full face" (in medium cushion) which just fits from the BOTTOM of your nose to your chin, very small, very comfy if normal masks bug you. Doesn't go over the nose, goes under it, it's hard to believe it'll seal but it does. I switched to my old CPAP machine because of the Phillips recall and I use it at 14.6! Leaks aren't an issue. Change the damn cushion ($40USD) every couple of months and it's awesome. After about 3 months you can INSTANTLY feel the difference with a new cushion. When I make 'em last 6 months plus it's night and day better when I replace it. Wash the cushion is dish washing soap (Dawn brand in the US) and it screws it up, it turns white and isn't as supple. Not a problem with the Res Med full face my cousin uses. The Amara View mask has a quick release hose feature for trips to the bathroom or kicking the cat out.
Thank you Nick for doing these video's! Greatly appreciated! Funny how I see a lung doc after having double covid pnuemonia Apr 2019. I would see him briefly, as they are so busy! I was on oxygen till Sep2019. I have had inflammation fluid around the heart as one of the after effects of Covid, now I really rely on the CPAP to keep my oxygen levels happy and my heart not laboring so much. You present, and articulate information very well, so a regular guy like me can understand! Very thankful! God bless you! AL from CT!

I’m almost in the same boat as you except I don’t think I have fluid around my heart. And they did a CT scan with contrast. However I got the pneumonia and I’m still on oxygen after seven weeks which means that I probably have scarring in my lungs. How do you feel now? Just curious because this is 2021 and what happened to you happened in 2019. I would like to know if you fully recovered?
Struggling older person, recently diagnosed with severe sleep apnea. Discouraged by all the information needed to be successful with treatment. 60 events/hour, difficult to know how good the seal is with air that blows out on full face/pillow top. Finding the supplier fairly inadequate to teach the right way for 2 hours, 14 apneas.discourage.
Same . I feel horrible all day . Been a month . My sleep clinic zero help . I keep taking mask off . I think I will try taping the thing to my face or ties from my hair . Air blows from sides and I am taking the thing off . So frustrating.
@@Yoshi-1972 for what it’s worth, I think finding the right mask for you is key. I’ve been quite lucky. Diagnosed 1 month ago… but am scoring 100% on the ‘MyAir” application most nights. For my face, the AirTouch masks with memory foam seals seems to work best for me. I have to use the full face masks since I’m a mouth breather. Tape on my mouth did not work! I’ve had the most success with the AirTouch F20. I’m trying the F30 but without the memory foam my good ‘mask seal test’ leaks terribly when I roll over onto my side. So far, I feel so much more alert during the day and my AHI are typically below 5. Hang in there folks
Side sleeper here and after trying all three, nasal, nasal pillow and full facemask I settled on the ResMed N20 Nasal (the one that just goes over your nose). For side sleeping I found it to hold the best seal, of course no mask is going to be 100% perfect and there are certain variables that may influence your sleeping experience. But I found the ResMed N20 Nasal held its place the best for me sleeping on my side all night.
Just wanted to say Thanks for your videos, they're very informative. I just got a full face for my Resmed, since I was having trouble with opening my mouth too much with the nasal mask. EVERY night for a week or so the full face would leak and I'd take it off after a couple of hours, but this video helped me get my first full night with the new mask! Thanks again.
Hi Guys, i need your help. One of the big cpap manufacturers is trying to take down the CPAP Reviews channel. Who knows what the next few days will bring. I know many of you don't like Facebook so here's a link to my newsletter. I will not spam you but will let you know where you can find me. Newsletter - eepurl.com/hz1ffH If you do wish to join the private FB group which is a bit more personable i feel then here's the link to that. FB Group - facebook.com/groups/138127984943408 You are also helping by subscribing to the channel (even though it will probably go under) and liking / sharing the vid on your fb groups / forums / reddit / twitter etc If you are a passionate person and want to stand behind me and our cpap reviews community then you can send them an email. Nothing nasty, just support emails please - reception.sydney@resmed.com.au I have created a shared dropbox folder with modified versions of the original vids and removed any 'copyright'. Here's the link and i will be adding to the folder. www.dropbox.com/sh/oxxyzmdzr9zya98/AACodFbQ1A8mBoagV3omg75ea?dl=0 I'm honestly exhausted. It's a very difficult time here in Melbourne with another lockdown and the whole family is just super flat. I'm not sure what the future holds but hopefully we can continue this journey together. Stay safe and look out for one another as i know you all will. Nick
My daughter uses a sleep weaver anew mask. Her skin needed a break from the other masks. She always had a triangle rash on her face. She is a dedicated mouth breather. She uses a BiPap machine. This combination solved quite a few issues. The one issue left has been difficult to solve. Her mask leaks. She very willingly puts on her mask each night and uses it all night. Her disability makes it difficult to accept change. Also, she likes to be independent. She used to pull her straps so tightly, she didn't want us to loosen it. Now, with the cloth mask, Her face is cleared up, but we are having difficulty adjusting this mask to fit without leaks. She's very independent and doesn't want help from us. Also, she has a very small head. Those straps just don't fit right. I had to sew them smaller. I have been told we have the smallest straps available. With so many people with Down syndrome requiring cpap and BiPap machines, you would think there would be a subset of masks designed for their face profile, head size and shape. Don't they make children's sizes? I'm sorry to ramble. Partly, there are details that make a difference. I guess I also need to vent a little. I thought your video would cover what I need for my daughter. Do you have a video on the sleep weaver? Or how to fit masks on children? Thank you for your help!

When I used a nasal mask, it leaked every night. I used cpap gel and that helped a bit, but my cpap supplier suggested switching to nasal pillows. THAT ended the leak issues. It took a bit (about 2 weeks) for my nostrils to adjust to the pillows, but it works great.

Every night for me results in my nose getting cold ( despite heater on) and dryness inside the nose almost to and including, inner nostril pain, acute enough to wake me up. So, just before I lay down with the CPAP on, I like to put some petroleum jelly on my finger and ever so lightly apply it to the inside of my nose. (If I have cold, I like to switch to Vicks Vapor rub instead.) The nose piece and the petro jelly makes for a nice seal, you simply wash the equipment off the next day.
My partners escaping air drives me crazy! He doesn’t even wake up! 🙈💤💤. Thank you so much for this info 👌.......fingers crossed , I might get a decent nights sleep, once he has watched this 🤞🤞

Holy hell. Thanks you so much for this! I struggled for over a year with ongoing mask leaks. Spent a fortune trying different masks, and then rage quit therapy. I only just returned last week due to ongoing daytime fatigue and lack of energy. Still struggled with leakage. Then I found this video while researching alternative masks (I'm using an AirTouch F30). Turns out, my pressure of 14 was way too high for my needs. Last night, I dropped it to 11 and leakage dropped dramatically, while my AHI was a solid 0.7. I plan to calibrate for the best balance over the next few nights, but first I came where to thank you for your pressure titration tip. I never thought of changing the setting from the initial APAP calibration point.
great info. I have been having leaks, and turned down my pressure, good to know I was doing the right thing. Got a question, where does your exhaled air /co2 go on a RESMED 11 w/an airfit F20 go? I can't seem to locate how the expelled air is exited.
#1: get pressure levels right. Learn how to change pressure levels #2: figure out how to check your sleep data. Ideally under 5. Drop it to 8. Get 95th percentile. Set pressure limits for auto max and auto min. Goal is to reduce max limits. #3: get mask wipes to remove oil from mask or wipe mask with soapy water daily. Mask cushion needs replaced regularly #4: replace mask with rez med mirage Quattro. F10 Quattro. Roll fit Terra. IsSan or isSan two. P10 mask with N 30 strap. P30 with nasal cushion.
How do you change the pressure levels yourself ? I know there are videos on how to do this. Where do you find these videos on how to change your clinical pressure?

YASOU Uncle Nicko. Per your note above, I assume I can get my data for APAP from my ResMed 10 on this data you mentioned? 1. The 90th or 95th percentile 2. The average pressure level 3. Your AHI My leaks have been up. I'm at 10-15 auto pressure but AHI are all under 5 events. Seal leaks have been over 20-30-40 L/min. This is all from myAir app only. I'm going use SD card now and SleepHQ. Thank you sir!
I am getting to the point where I really anticipate this guy and his next videos. He deals with interesting subjects. Most of his videos is short and to the point without a lot of unnecessary mumbo-jumbo. If he goes long in some videos, it is really necessary to benefit from the information you are getting from him. Thanks very much, "Mate".
I gave up for a while because the noise matches my breathing. I am assuming it is the mask but not sure. Why does this keep happening? I had the machine checked and got all new supplies yesterday and the same thing happens. I am beyond frustrated and can't get good sleep.
I just found your videos and this was the first one I saw. So much helpful information. I did the first thing you mentioned, lowering my pressure by 1 and I’ve had 2 scores of 100 for two days in a row! Thanks, Nick!
I was recently diagnosed with sleep apnea and trying to figure out the mask is probably the most frustrating part. I live in and area that doesn’t have easy access to my sleep doctor, so I am constantly having to learn on my own. I thank you 🙏 this is very helpful
No matter how good you doctor is, the main challenge is what you do yourself. The doctors job is to find the excact diagnose, its not his job to accept a disease and comply to that. Apnea patients are very different. Thats our own job to manage the treatment in our daily life. Make your own experiments, and sooner or later they will lead to succes. Good we have the net, where you can find both good and worthless information. Its up to you to find out what is right in your situation.

From my experience, using alot of apap pressure, between 8 and 20, some days really good others not so good, so long story short what worked for me is min and max pressure same epr 1, most nights my ahi under 1
Excellent advice. I was reacting too quickly with pressure changes I think. I will wait a few days to give my data time to stabilize before adjusting pressure. Thank you.
Hi Steve, cheers brother. Yeah it's a good idea to look at the averages over a few days, even a week to get the best idea as where to set the levels :-)
so the machine is ineffective when that pressure goes up for that 30 minutes due to the mask leaking throwing off your numbers why keep the machine on causing lack of sleep and bothering your partner.
Been on CPAP for months and hating it. Hospital wanted to control pressure levels and had to fight to get the right to do it myself. I'm on level 16 but reducing by 0.4 and now around 14. Still feel the mask lifts away in the corners and I tend to drool, it's a mask that sits under the nose and full mouth. I have had anxiety and claustrophobia and seem to huge gulp down the air every hour then panic and rip the mask off. Have got the humidifier fairly sorted but still want to try a nasal only mask. Will try your level vs data approach.
Nick, Is there an easier way to get going again after getting up to use the rest room in the middle of the night? When I re-connect after getting back in bed it goes through the ramp stage again. My machine is the Resmed Airsense 10. Also I'm having a small issue having to belch to relieve the air in my throat constantly. Any easy solutions?

Long term nasal pillow user. Unless the straps are very snug, you will wake up with the red angry face on your machine. Somehow or someway a leak will occur and your whole day ruined due to lack of energy and brain fog. Rule of thumb: Your nose should be in minor pain when you wake up. If the nasal pillow was on snug, multiple hours with it on will for sure cause some discomfort when you wake up and notice it. I guarantee you if you want 100% convenience, you will wake up with the red angry face minimum 3 times a week. No pain no gain my friends. The advice from people who don't have to actually use it for eternity is useless. You need the advice of people who are actually in the war zone battling everyday.
Last night was my first night with any kind of CPAP machine. I didn't think leaking was too bad of an issue. Did I sleep?? No not really but at some points I couldn't even feel the mask on my face. I did end of getting very dry nasal passages. My max pressure is set at 15.... since I'm new to this I have no idea if that is high... or average. I also do not know if the set pressure is available for me to adjust. I ended up getting a full face because sometimes I have a stuffy nose. My husband was happy that he didn't hear me snoring and he was happy that any noise was non-existent (relieved husband). What do you think of the product NasoGEL to moisturize in the nose? I watched your video on humidity already. I think I will ask the VA about the tube wrap to keep the heat in the tube. I really appreciate your very informative videos. For a newbie like me.... they are a god send! THANK YOU!
Hi Sorsha, welcome to the channel and thanks for sharing your first impressions / experience with the therapy. It will certainly take a bit of getting use to! Here's some things you need to find out. 1. Are you using an Automatic machine ( apap) or a fixed pressure machine (cpap). 15 is classified as a high pressure (20 is as high as they go and 4 is normally the lowest level). I think you have made a slight mistake in starting with a full face mask on the basis of your occasional stuffy nose. I highly recommend starting with a nasal pillow or nasal hybrid mask for the first few weeks and then move to a full face mask if you're really struggling with the nasal breathing. Take it one step at a time mate and keep watching /learning from my vids and i'm sure you and your husband will be better off in the long run. Best wishes. Nicko

How I sleep with the therapy?? Sleep? What’s that? Since I started this therapy I don’t sleep. Wake up about 5 times a night with such dry mouth my tongue is stuck to roof of my mouth. I slept better when I stopped breathing.
Thanks for the info. I've been a CPAP auto user for many years and I'm learning more here that is helpful. I wonder if you've found out how not to have to use Rem-ZZZ's with the Wisp Mask. Rem-ZZZ's is a little cloth triangle that covers the nose silicone to keep sensitive skin from becoming sore/inflammed. This does at times affect the seal, plus, even the x-small Remzzz's is too large. Will check back for comments.
Wisp is Respironics, best I've found; especially if your claustrophobic. The mask is soft in the fabric, but I do use the RemZZZ's to protect skin as mentioned above.
I have been using CPAP for close on 15 years and have finally booked in for another sleep study in October. My mask of choice is the ResMed F30, having tried many full face masks over the years.
I swear to god I could kill a man with the frustration of trying to get a fricking seal, by the time I've effed about with it before bed, I'm sooo stressed I couldn't sleep if I tried, apnea cured, just don't sleep smh
I feel your pain mate. Hopefully a few of those tips help. This is probably a good video to watch also as it will help a lot - ruclips.net/video/pL4egwDrvbg/видео.html
I recently restarted using my mask. I'd stopped for a while as my pressure was far too high I'd had it changed to 14 from 12 and it was to much.. However, when it came time for the 6 monthly NHS service / adjustment of the machine it was lockdown and I was expected to sit in a hospital waiting room full of people who had breathing problems at a time when a virus was abundant which caused people to go to hospital with breathing problems.. So call me paranoid but my machine also hadn't been used etc. I have found Epimax hand / skin cream works extremely well using 2x pea sized amounts on the rubber seal it's hypoallergenic, water based, used to cleanse skin without needing to be dried off and seems to last for 3 / 4 nights when applied to the mask seal. I'm still trying to rebook my hospital appointment with the machine but I still have a few months before it's 6 months of use has elapsed for its service I've also managed to lose 5-6 stones and obviously my eyelids often flap due to the eye sockets CPAP pressure. Very uncomfortable when eyelids pass gas.. I've now set CPAP to 10 and thanks to your video I know how to properly monitor my results. This comment started out as the Epimax tip I'd figured out. Now you know 50% of my medical history. LOL.. Cheers & All the best hope this may help someone out as the therapy is incredible when it's comfortable and setup correctly.
When I first go to sleep everything is OK? My pressure is set between 4-20 but it doesn't go past 5 . So my question is can you turn off your ramp up setting at night ? Or do I need that too help me sleep ?As soon as that pressure builds up I have air leaking it goes in my eyes wakes me up so I just take off my mask . I feel like I can't get a good night's sleep 😴
@@andrewrobertson3398 I’ve done some research and the answer is yes, leaks will show up as AHI’s. Seems to me there are several variables that count as AHI’s. I’m not so sure these machines are all that accurate. I do think they’re a helpful tool in helping with sleep apnea, I’m just not so sure the numbers they track tell an accurate account of what’s going on. My AHI’s are all over the chart. I’ll have 2 one night and 15 the next night. I’m a back sleeper, which I read is the worst way to sleep if you have sleep apnea, but I can’t sleep on my side. I have yet to figure out why my numbers change so drastically from night to night. My doctor is going to switch me to a bi-pap machine. It’s supposed to work so much better than cpap. It’s a lot more expensive machine and I think for insurances purposes they have to try cpap first, but if it doesn’t work, which it doesn’t for me, then they move you to a bi-pap machine.
Another great video Nick. I have watched your videos in the past but somehow I missed or didn't fully understand the relationship between leaks and pressure. I typically have an AHI around 1 to NOW 2 with the new N20 mask, last night. Also, my mask fit is down to 78% whereby it's usually closer to or at 100%. So, I will try reducing my pressure from 11 (decided based on experiment in the past) to 10 (or less). Also the CPAP store sold me a Medium Vs the Small the measurement card indicated claiming it fit my nose bridge better. Do you think this may be an issue?
I’ve been wearing the torture device for over a year now, still make occasional adjustments, but it is actually better than not wearing it. Best wishes
If you can get a good fit, your first really good nights sleep might help you change your mind. I’m overwhelmed by how poorly I was sleeping in the past. Virtually no REM sleep during the few hours I actually got during my test night. Good luck
@@en2oh 2nd time through. This time bipap. Slept ONE time for 3 hrs, otherwise have never slept more than 1/2 hour straight without something waking me up. I"ve 11 masks, 3 ea full face, pillow, cradle. And the Bleep Halos and the mouthguard device with no headgear. Suffice it to say I hate every one of them and this damned device.
I use an over the counter sleep aid and wear ear plugs. It really helps get you to sleep. I wash my face and my mask before sleep, and that helps with the seal. For air leaks drying my eyes, I drape a cloth over my eyes when I lay down to sleep. It doesn't completely eliminate it but it drops the irritation down enough to sleep.I live in AZ so the lack of humidity here makes the dry eyes and mouth way worse. It's worth getting used to your machine just for your quality of life. Good luck 😀
Having a beard I find the Resmed N30i with cushions to be the best after after training myself to keep my mouth shut in bed at night with a chin strap, I also shaved a little under my nose to get a better seal and it works great
Hi Anthony, great advice mate! I know a lot of guys struggle with the beard so glad to hear the N30i is doing the trick for you. Yep can certainly take some practice and training to keep the mouth shut but like most things, if you put your mind to it and practice you eventually get good at it :-). Have a great day. Nick

Hello. What would you recommend if I had started to have morning migraine since using a nasal mask? I had a full face mask for a week but it was leaking too much and hurting my jar. However, since I had the nasal one, the fitting was perfect, but I started to have migraine in the morning that last hours. Do you think it’s related to the pressure? Thanks
Hi Medinah, it's a tricky one. It could be but it's hard to know. I would consider perhaps just dropping your pressure levels down a little to see if that helps. Full face masks have a larger mask cavity compared to the nasal masks so the added pressure in the smaller mask cavity could be potentially causing some issues but i honestly don't know. If it was me i would just drop the pressure a little bit and see if it helps out. You can always increase it over time. Let me know how you go. Nick
@@CPAPReviews hello! Thank you for responding! I actually have another question. It is a bit difficult for me to describe. I have my machine for a few weeks now, since I have switched to the nasal one, I am waking up quite often during the night because of repetitive incident. What happen is that, depending on my sleeping position, I am awake by this choking sensation, where it feels I already inhale all the air coming from the cpap to the point where the plastic tube almost want to go through my nose as well 😅. This being said, I am lost as if it because of the pressure trying to go up while I’m having my apnea activities, or something related to my personal breathing. My machine is setup at A-flex 2.0; I have decided to lower it to 1.0 to see if it changed anything. Please help me. I’m losing a ton of sleep. I went from sleeping 8hours when I first got the machine to 6hours with 4 interruptions that last maybe 20/30minutes. Thanks

Hi Dr Nick. My a h i is at 2 to 3 and my pressure was 17.5 and it has come down to 16 after what you have said I think I am room to improve because like you said quite uncomfortable especially after for 5 hours I wake up and I just don't feel like sleeping anymore because it is uncomfortable I do persist and continue resting but again you hit it on the head when you said how it can feel uncomfortable and I want to treatment to Feelgood. Obviously my weight is a factor what do you think I should do I have come down from over 135 kg to. 107 kilograms. Going to sleep with a full stomach does not help your apnea-hypopnea index if you have a beard get rid of it a shaving face is the best. Great video really appreciate it
Hi Darren, have you watched my pressure adjustment vid? - ruclips.net/video/pL4egwDrvbg/видео.html . This will help you. I have a feeling that you could probably bring your pressure levels down further if you keep an eye on your ahi average over a week. Congrats on the weight loss but i'm assuming 107 is still overweight so you if you can get your BMI level (body mass index - google it) down to a healthy range then it will certainly help with your apnea. Also sleeping on your side or on a slight incline using a wedge pillow will also help. You might not be able to totally get rid of the machine with weight loss but it will certainly reduce the amount of pressure required to give you a healthy night sleep. Take care mate. Nick
It's confusing when you say for example . . . "if your pressure level is 5 you want to drop "down" to an 8 Down, in my way of thinking, is a lower number . . not a higher number. sign me confused
Just got new head straps, thought the problem was the straps also thinned out my hair as I’ve got thick curly hair 👩🏼🦱 used thinning scissors and cut my hair shorter, so might the set pressure level was at 11 since I’ve just check and change it to level 6 and start up at level 4 for the 5 ramp
My cpap says I start at 4 and ramp up to 18 in 45 mins. I honestly think this is way to high because my exhale about blows the mask off my face. I use a airflow f20 with a foam seal on the silicone. I just can’t stop the leaks. It will work great for the 1st week of the masks like but after that they just leak. It’s just a mess.
I bought 3 different masks at $300 each and they don't work. I need one between small and medium but they don't make one. I need some advice on how stop clawing the mask off thru the night. I have actually scratched my eyes really bad and got an infection
I've lately learn a little more about the clinical side. Finally got a new machine capap. To get my numbers to a better sleep question is ? My AHI Number is suppose around or under 5.0 or is it supposed to be .50 never heard of anyone saying what number I've heard the number 5 mentioned just not which side of the decimal it to be on 5.0. Or. 0.5 .thanks
Why isn't my machine already set up correctly? Isn't this supposed to be done by the therapist? Every time I turn around something needs to be done! It first took me 2 months of sleep deprivation to get use to it. Then I need a heated tube. Now my mask is leaking. I can only ask which is the lesser of 2 evils? Sleep with a cpap machine or without?!
I’ve never tried CPAP. Around 20 years ago I got snoring surgery. A uvulaectomy. It reduced snoring by 75-80%. Increased night time breathing. Have not woke up choking since then. Just an alternative.
Hi there, yep watch part 3 of my series on the airsense ruclips.net/video/qIfHud8ZhDE/видео.html . Some clinicians / doctors will lock their patients out from seeing the full data info in the patient view. You will need to switch that feature ON in the clinical settings (this is where you can also change your pressure levels etc). Best wishes Nick

Just did modifications yesterday. Didn't do full dismissal, used a 7/8 diamond impregnated drill hole bit. Then sealed hole using 7/8 snap in hole plugs and then placed duct tape over them. Had to cut plugs seal edges to get fitted properly. The foam came out somewhat easy. Only difficulty was the factory dab of glue on a internal hold down points on each side. Used flashlight to shine into void to see if completely empty. Had to use hemostats to both remove foam and to clean off those glue points. Then reassembled and let run afew minutes. But went one step more, I placed the unit on C-check to readjust the air pressure flow. But the unit seam to be just a bit louder but no different the my old gray Resmed model. Ps tried using mask without that piece of baffling in the clip on area. So to replace used a filter replacement cut into small strips and then pressed them into the slot using a sewing needle.
G'day John, thanks for the comment. I don't believe that's 'glue' more like foam degradation which causes it to get sticky. I have a bypap with oxygen and I cannot keep my mouth shut I really really suffer with dry mouth what can I try besides a chin strap I've tried that that does not work
I use my wife’s cpap because since a she’s had it she won’t use it. So I need it bad I stop breathing 80 seconds at a time. Well we have a cpap shop in town and that lady claimed you can’t even buy one on Amazon with out a prescription 😂 that’s a lie I have a travel size one now and I use the custom settings that she said I couldn’t use
My mask just makes a lot of noise. The noise is coming from the intended leakage holes which are present at 2 places on the mask. I don't understand why these tiny holes are present and can I just seal them off?
What they call full face mask aren’t worth a dam They have shrunk the mask even with straps tightened the dam continues slip off , Can’t but think that whoever designed them to save money doesn’t have to wear the dam thing bring back the real face mask
Hi Suzanne, he / she isn't the one sleeping with it! I highly recommend taking control of your own therapy and forgetting about these 'Apnea specialist' who are taking you for a ride. It's very simple to understand sleep apnea and it's very easy to adjust your machine therapy levels yourself.

I am waking up with my left eyeball swollen on the white part on the side . By the end of the day it has gone down. I think my pressure is too high. I am constantly tired and my head is feeling cloudy. I am not sleeping well
What does your sleep report say as far as your AHI, hr’s. used, & leaks? Sounds like you’ve either got a serious leak on that side, may need a mask change, or may need a pressure change! I would think if you have a bad leak on that side, it’s blowing in your eye instead of your lungs, so you’re not getting the results of your intended therapy (so your tired all the time!). I would definitely consult your DME provider’s resp. therapist, and/or your pulmonologist! You may also need to see your ophthalmologist (& ? PCP) if it isn’t related to your CPAP machine. Definitely need to get it taken care of ASAP, as you don’t want to poss. affect your vision, & you still need to treat your sleep apnea!!! You also don’t want to fall asleep at an in opportune time, like while driving!
The thing that bothers me most about using a CPAP is the conflicting information about how to use it best...from the medical community/suppliers/manufacturer's. Apria is the worst.
G'day mates If you use a ResMed AirSense 10 or 11 you can now register for a free www.sleephq.com account. It's super easy to upload, review and share your cpap therapy data.
I been on fisher & pykel for 6 years with just nose mask. Only recently got tld by my sleep disorders clinic im allowed to change the pressure . I got told i was not allowed as if I drove and had an accident and records stste i was on 11pressure but its dropped to 9 I can be i troule? Was tgis ever true. I mean I do not drive so doesnt affect me. But lary ive dtopped 11 to 10 api is down 2.8-2.9 to 0.8-1.6 =)
Not so with me. Having trouble

@@CPAPReviews Why? What's the deal with them?
@@CPAPReviewsyou are literally SO helpful. Thank you for everything you’re doing and super glad you’re still up. Cheers from the US!

Good luck with your conditions. I feel for you.

Well explained and spot on problem solving technique, truly appreciate your sharing of knowledge

I had to go into clinical settings and INCREASE my pressure from a wimpy 7 to 14. Sleep so much better now that I BLAST my sinuses.

Hi Alan, thanks for sharing your experience. Glad to hear you're having some success with the pillow mask. All the best Nick

Learn how to change pressure levels
#2: figure out how to check your sleep data. Ideally under 5. Drop it to 8. Get 95th percentile. Set pressure limits for auto max and auto min. Goal is to reduce max limits.
#3: get mask wipes to remove oil from mask or wipe mask with soapy water daily. Mask cushion needs replaced regularly
#4: replace mask with rez med mirage Quattro. F10 Quattro. Roll fit Terra. IsSan or isSan two. P10 mask with N 30 strap. P30 with nasal cushion.
How do you change the pressure levels yourself ? I know there are videos on how to do this. Where do you find these videos on how to change your clinical pressure?
@@rickbrzyski4334Did you ever get an answer to your question?
I don't think I can change my levels because I'm on a fixed pressure level. So maybe some machines have this option and others don't? 🤔

My pulmonologist controls my pressure. It has built in WIFI and he can change it as I see him annually.

I know this video is old, but Resmed devices don't show average Leak Rate, but rather Median Leak Rate.
YASOU Uncle Nicko. Per your note above, I assume I can get my data for APAP from my ResMed 10 on this data you mentioned?
1. The 90th or 95th percentile
2. The average pressure level
3. Your AHI
My leaks have been up.
I'm at 10-15 auto pressure but
AHI are all under 5 events.
Seal leaks have been over 20-30-40 L/min.
This is all from myAir app only. I'm going use SD card now and SleepHQ.

Unfortunately my sleep clinic remotely adjusts my pressure. I don't feel comfortable adjusting it.
But, what happens when the doctor finds out you've reduced the pressure that he prescribed? Isn't he the one in charge of the pressure we require?
I was recently diagnosed with sleep apnea and trying to figure out the mask is probably the most frustrating part. I live in and area that doesn’t have easy access to my sleep doctor, so I am constantly having to learn on my own. I thank you 🙏 this is very helpful
Yeah the mask is tricky especially if you don't have access to a clinic etc. Good luck mate. Nick
Oh the mask goes on your FACE? No wonder I was having trouble getting to sleep.
hahaha

I find that my mask always leaks when I'm on my side. I can fix it by putting the straps really tight, but then it's not very comfortable. Any tips?
4. Wash your face before going to bed.
How about the F30i. Would like a review of that mask. Thanks. Excellent discussion

Thank you for this thought, “ the therapy should be balanced with the need for sleep”
How do I begin the next day with green smiling face on face mask
You need to work on your mask seal :)
I cant lower my pressure, and it leaks. I hate cpap!
Just type in the make of your cpap machine on to You Tube. I have learned how to adjust my resmed air 10.
1. Are you using an Automatic machine (
apap) or a fixed pressure machine (cpap). Nicko
Hi guys, ResMed is trying to take down my channel. It will probably get shut down tomorrow. Here's a Facebook Group i started! Please join for support - facebook.com/groups/138127984943408 .
My machine is still being monitored by the DME for insurance purposes. Will adjusting the pressure on my own cause issues with that process?
I hate using this machine and the mask
I have been using CPAP for close on 15 years and have finally booked in for another sleep study in October. My mask of choice is the ResMed F30, having tried many full face masks over the years.
Nice one mate, thanks for sharing your experience. Nick :)
Try the F30i, amazing
I swear to god I could kill a man with the frustration of trying to get a fricking seal, by the time I've effed about with it before bed, I'm sooo stressed I couldn't sleep if I tried, apnea cured, just don't sleep smh
I feel your pain mate. Hopefully a few of those tips help. This is probably a good video to watch also as it will help a lot - ruclips.net/video/pL4egwDrvbg/видео.html
@@CPAPReviews no use at all, trying to get an initial seal is my problem, on the test mask seal function. But your mate got a view so well done
Will mask leaks show up as AHI’s since the pressure is going to go up when the mask is leaking?
A question I keep asking on forums but no one seems to answer
Mask wipes?.. where can I get these… been on cpap for 1 week and learning…
I also have been on a CPAP for a week and the mask is leaking late at night and I can’t sleep
@@supercop843 I had to tighten mine up a few times to stop the leaking.. and I use indented baby wipes
Been 2 months and I've still not slept for an hour wearing this gd torture device. Fraid I'm giving it up.
Nick

Hi Paul, thanks mate :-) Have a great weekend
Thanks

The mask doing a flutter fart is the worst, am I right?
Nick
Hi guys, ResMed is trying to take down my channel. Here's a Facebook Group i started! Please join for support - facebook.com/groups/138127984943408 .
It's confusing when you say for example . . . "if your pressure level is 5 you want to drop "down" to an 8
Down, in my way of thinking, is a lower number . . not a higher number. sign me confused

Useless commentary without actually demonstrating achieving a good seal with several mask types.
Or. 0.5
.thanks
Thanks for the advice, Nick. But I was unable to locate this AHI data anywhere in my AirSense 10. Suggestions?
Hi there, yep watch part 3 of my series on the airsense ruclips.net/video/qIfHud8ZhDE/видео.html . Some clinicians / doctors will lock their patients out from seeing the full data info in the patient view. You will need to switch that feature ON in the clinical settings (this is where you can also change your pressure levels etc). Best wishes
Nick

@@CPAPReviews That sucks, Nick. What's their problem?
When you say set your "max pressure" to the number you are getting 95% rate with low AHI, is that my IPAP max?
I don't know how to change my pressure. I also don't see my AHI.
Love your channel new CPAP User for a month thanks for the info Nick😀
Hi Kenneth, welcome to the channel mate. Glad you're enjoying the vids. All the best brother. Nick
I have a resmed airsense 10 machine. I'm confused where to find the 90th percentile on the sleep report the next morning. How do I find it?
I haven't got a good answer for this: If I have mild apnea but my overnight O2 levels remain in good level, do I really need to use my machine?
My mask just makes a lot of noise. The noise is coming from the intended leakage holes which are present at 2 places on the mask. I don't understand why these tiny holes are present and can I just seal them off?
What they call full face mask aren’t worth a dam They have shrunk the mask even with straps tightened the dam continues slip off , Can’t but think that whoever designed them to save money doesn’t have to wear the dam thing bring back the real face mask
My Apnea specialist won’t put the pressure down so this is not an option so how do I stop the mask leaks

Pretty sure I'm doing good. 90% @ 11. Average @ 10.2. AHI @ zero. Mask fit 100%.
