She's totally right. Getting approached by guys who think you're kissing your girlfriend to turn them on is offensive, sometimes threatening and makes you feel like your relationship is public property. Yes you're free to do whatever you want, but accept that it makes life harder for gay people who already face homophobia on a daily basis.
1:37 "Who cares what other people think of it?" That's pretty ironic coming from them, isn't it? They're literally doing what they are doing *because* of what other people think of them.
Ugh, I hated those girls at school who did the whole 'fooling around' thing because they though it made them look sexy to guys or that being Bi was really fashionable. It meant that when I plucked up the courage to come out to my friends there was an aura of 'I think she's just said it for attention/because she thinks its cool' or the 'its just a phase' crap.
I completely relate. I went to a high school dedicated to Arts programs (visual arts, drama, musical theater, etc), so as you can imagine, there were many non-straight people. However, all the gay guys I knew have remained gay to this day, while the bisexual gals (strangely, I was the only lesbian in the entire school for all of 4 years) I knew all turned heterosexual upon high school graduation. It really does piss me off that they were merely experimenting because they thought it was "cool" and a "turn on" for guys. It devalues female homosexuality and makes people not take genuine bisexuals or lesbians seriously.
To the person thinking lesbians are always pissed off, there is a reason, the reason being that there is already a struggle for acceptance, and that so many straight woman are somewhat proving the stereotype that being gay is a choice and that you could be straight if you want to, as well as using it as a tool just to please men.
it’s so pathetic.. lol. not for when they clap for the one girl, but for when they start clapping mindlessly for the two other girls.. like, ew. get a life
it’s literally disgusting. sooooooo many things wrong with what these two ‘women’ are standing for.. like absolutely no empathy or respect or true understanding and compassion for the woman who is in. ‘minority’.. so sad.
I think the issue that the lesbian woman was referring to was the issue that because of so called 'barsexuals' ,men would approach and disturb her and her girlfriend. She is getting unwanted attention when all she really wants is to spend time with her girlfriend like any normal person, but because of barsexuals, men would assume that they are two straight women out for a good time and that could indirectly and directly mean that their sexuality is not respected. That they're not really a couple who have feelings for each other but are just friends 'working together' to get what they want which is most of the time, a good time.
Omg the lesbian girl was soooooooo FUCKING CUTE OMG SHE IS ADORABLE WITH HER LITTLE ANGER But she wasss sooooo freaking right i was clapping the entire speech
Ang5ty Comments Right, she was very passionate about it, you can see the hatred she has for these girls on her face at 0:55, I hope she's still fighting for gay rights and is still out and proud.
Very well said, I couldn't find the right words exactly do describe it, but you did perfectly. Thank you. I'll be honest..maybe it's because I don't drink or hang out at bars, but I never heard the term "barsexual". I'm not really surprised by people's stupidity anymore, but this one just baffled me a bit. I find it hard as to why those two girls can't wrap their heads around why they could be making things harder for lesbians. I think they're just making excuses for their actions.
you could say to some extent that being homosexual IS a choice because you can be attracted to whatever gender but if you CHOOSE to act on it, and make it public (coming out) and dating people of the same gender then yes, it is a choice. you could be gay and choose to date the opposite sex, but thats not what feels right so you have chosen not to.
Honestly it's not just about taken seriously. They're basically exploiting a culture. People like me who are not accepted at home or (for a while at school)- our struggles are being trivialized because of this behavior.
Wow at the "Highest rated" buzz kills. I'm a bisexual guy who enjoys the company of men far more than women and I don't find it offensive. I have many female friends who dance, grind, and kiss on each other to get the guys all heated up. I just say "Woo, work it." I mean; when you go to a bar - Being an attention whore is kind of what you're supposed to do. I have NO problem with two girls 'playing gay' if it gets us free drinks. YOU DON'T GO TO BARS LOOKING FOR SELF-RESPECTING WOMEN!
[Pt1] FB links are nothing but that. FB links. They simply send you to the site where the information lies. So saying FB link are not the best sources is untrue because it can be just like me sending you the same link through email for instance. And here's an example of my point. You wouldn't say something like "I accept you, but tell me, why are you black?"
Doesn't matter if it's rude or not. I can't change the fact that I find it hot,and there are tons of guys out there like me. Some of those people have enough nerve to hit on you knowing you're a lesbian. I'm not saying it isn't rude,I'm saying there's literally nothing you can do about it.
As a "real bisexual" I guess you would call it, i kind of agree with her, All the time when people ask me at the place i work ( i work in a gay bar) what sexual orientation i am, its like i have to explain every time that i am a legitimate bisexual. Its not just an attention thing, it does make life a little bit harder, but at the same time, i dont really mind the displays of the girls making out all the time lol :P
Yeah. She was very upset. These girls need to imagine they are lesbians and they don't want men bothering them, and try being friendly with each other in a bar. See how many men interrupt you, and imagine what's that's like for women who don't want male attention while out with their wife or girlfriend. Imagine people laughing at your relationship and clapping for you like you are in their live action porno. Imagine being disrespected like that when you just want to have a quiet night out.
@FM897 Thank you! It's not a bleeping phase. It's a sexuality. No different from being hetrosexual. I'm also bleeping sick of people calling themselves bisexual because they made out with a girl and then says "it wasn't attracting me". I have a friend that is like that, I'm so bleeping annoyed at how she sees it, especially since her lil sis is bi.
Did she just say "choice"?! Like I CHOSE a lifestyle where I don't have the guts to ask someone out because I'm afraid he's gonna punch me in the face, even though I'm that desperate to finally get some love. Give me a break.
Can I see the reasearch that states that? Oh and by the way, I am 100% fine with gay people and I fight for equality for everyone. I respect the fact that they can go against all "regular" and "normal" things that society thinks they should be and are actually who they are. I just think that saying that you are born gay is not true, so once again please may i see the evidence. Thanks :)
She's right, people like them only make guys think it's okay to ask me and my GF if they can watch us together, the best part is we were not even kissing, we were just holding hands walking down the street!!!
@wintergrew I totally agree. I too am bi and when my ex-girlf-whos gay- and I used to go out we were constantly asked for threesomes because men assumed we kissed to get their attention. I have no problem with two girls/guys being curious or experimenting but don't do it for attention. Its sad and like the girl on the video said, it gives us a bad name.
@FM897 The blonde chick was correct in that people are going to think whatever they want, regardless of their behavior. But this is still a precarious time for equal rights and acceptance, and while their behavior is NOT the real problem, I do believe it is perpetuating it.
@Airesuhana That's a little intense. But I understand what you're saying. I'm a bisexual, but so many people claim that it's just a phase I'm going through. It's not. I take my orientation pretty seriously.
yea, many people, gay & straight, say "there's no such thing as bisexuality" which is really annoying... why are they denying existence of something that exists? I don't care if straight girls are kissing each other for any reason ever, doesn't matter really to me, they can do what they want but the lesbian girl in the video has a point. But she can't say them not to do what they do. It's about the attitudes in the whole society that need to change. Str8 girls kissing aint really helping though
@kmg0330 It isnt there before you hit puberty. Most people find out theyre gay when they reach puberty and the pituitary gland starts going into overdrive and they become sexual like everyone else. There may not be a "gay gene", but it definitely isnt a choice. Who would CHOOSE to be a part of the most discriminated against group in modern times?
[Pt2] I realize it's not the same thing but the founded definition of the remark is the same. Can't people be loved without having to have a scientific reason to be loved? And I don't remember the sites of which I read the articles, what does that have to do with anything? You'll assume what exactly based on that fact?
Not to downplay the "real" lesbian woman in the audience's frustration because it is valid and understood but I think that these barsexual harm bisexual women the most of all. Neither the gay nor straight community take us seriously because of these barsexual girls.
Agreed. Although it DOES give a bad name to lesbians as well, seeing as, in the eyes of the media and hetero-public, all lesbians are supposedly "merely bisexual".

@mayabulletized If she feels she has to "prove something" (she fails to specify what it is she has to prove) then that is her problem and she does have the right to berate those two girls for just having fun...those girls are not responsible for guys being turned on (guys would be turned on regardless if they were real lesbians or not) nor are they responsible for any death threats or glares directed at lesbian couples

LMAO! I never knew "being a lesbain" was my lifestyle choice, like the decoration of my room :D
I love the girl in the crowd for speaking her mind. I agree 100% with her.

"Grow up. It's so juvenile!"
You go girl!
She’s right
im lesbian and that has happen to me in bars when im with someone on a date ppl always think im fouling around so i get why that girl get so mad.
I love how one person starts clapping and everyone does
I should start doing that as an experiment
it’s so pathetic.. lol. not for when they clap for the one girl, but for when they start clapping mindlessly for the two other girls.. like, ew. get a life
"lifestyle choices" and "if you wanna be a lesbian go for it"" HAHAHAHA frick off
Lifestyle choice? that's complete disrespect to the lgbt community.
Night King lgbtxqy(ect)*
it’s literally disgusting. sooooooo many things wrong with what these two ‘women’ are standing for.. like absolutely no empathy or respect or true understanding and compassion for the woman who is in. ‘minority’.. so sad.

The girl in the audience just explained my life.
okay, just for the "it's your lifestyle choice" I would've gone beserk. It's not a choice.
"if you WANT to be a lesbian, go for it."
um...what??
"you chose to be a lesbian"
gtfo, seriously
i like that girl who stood up! i was like: whoo! you tell them! haha:)
Omg the lesbian girl was soooooooo
FUCKING CUTE OMG SHE IS ADORABLE WITH HER LITTLE ANGER
But she wasss sooooo freaking right i was clapping the entire speech
Ang5ty Comments Right, she was very passionate about it, you can see the hatred she has for these girls on her face at 0:55, I hope she's still fighting for gay rights and is still out and proud.
That escalated hell of fast in the beginning lol
so i was in the middle, untill that blond girl says 'its your lifestlye choice'. IT AINT A CHOICE!
I was ready to fight when she said “lifestyle”
Girl in the audience got attitude. Way to go girl!
Tyra is all like can you get over it all ready!!! :D
I love this girl for being so honest and true to her feelings! (The lesbian girl) Go girl!

Have you ever seen a straight guy and girl who weren't dating kiss?
Haha that girl was cool, she told them right on!
OWNED! haha omg i love that.
Is this still a trend in 2015? I don't go to bars anymore.
Honestly it's not just about taken seriously. They're basically exploiting a culture. People like me who are not accepted at home or (for a while at school)- our struggles are being trivialized because of this behavior.
Tyra HAS to find a racial example every damn time lol.
It's what she can relate to.
I'm lesbain
tyra understands
Lol. The video on fred is one of the RELATED videos.
hurts me too daring...worse part i hate when they accept to go out with us because they pity us cos we gals..man we are SO NOT TAKEN SERIOUS
IT'S NOT A LIFESTYLE CHOICE OMG
the disclaimer is just adorable :)
And YES to the girl at 0:39.

Thank you :)
LOL..I like that girl from the audience...@0:56 she's about to cry...LOL...woho0o you rocks!!\m/
Cristine, thank you! I feel the same way! I hate not being taken seriously.

It's called being femme...
@SakuraUploads
I broke out into cheers and clapping, dude. You aren't alone. XD ♥

Wooo go her for telling them off.
i like the way she says "because" it's really cute>im talking about the lesbian girl ..
i personally LOVE the fist person that spoke
the lesbian
ya
And yet you're watching Tyra Show reruns on youtube?
Why should it be about what men think? As feminists we worry about if we're going to win men's love vs respect
right on sister!
Not to downplay the "real" lesbian woman in the audience's frustration because it is valid and understood but I think that these barsexual harm bisexual women the most of all. Neither the gay nor straight community take us seriously because of these barsexual girls.
Agreed. Although it DOES give a bad name to lesbians as well, seeing as, in the eyes of the media and hetero-public, all lesbians are supposedly "merely bisexual".
i love that girl Christine she is so right wat she saying to those two girls!!!!
anyone have the link on youtube when lisa rizzo is on tyra's show?
well like i said, kissing is only related to attraction because socially, it has been constructed that way. i guess, you could say i'm attracted to some of my girlfriends to an extent. but i was trying to point out that kissing is a pleasurable activity. from my experience, a good kiss does not necessarily correlate with attraction. i've kissed men that i'm attracted to where kissing is actually terrible. does that make sense? thank you for your intelligent response! i dislike all the hatred!
is the blonde girl on the couch from skins??????????? like doesn't she look like neomi (i think thats her name)
I've kissed guys before w/o dating them and honestly if I liked a girl enough to kiss her but not date her I would do it. And sometimes kissing just happens out of impulse during fun times...kissing is just kissing whether it be w/ the opposite or same sex. I'm straight and have yet to kiss a girl but I don't see any problem w/ the girls in this vid...and I'm pretty sure most of my gay/bi friends wouldn't care either...
those two girls had NO idea what they were talking about
@201stars I think people compare it to race beause both being gay or bisexual (not atraight basically) and being of another race than white, either way that makes you a minority of that 'norm' group. But i understand what your saying about them not being the same, because they aren't, it's not color, or culture, it's sexual orientation and who you love.
I agree with you and am sorry you had to go throught that. As much as I hate them taking advantage of your orientation though, the fact is for some strange reason, straight guys love to see girls kissing and doing sexual things to each other, whether they're lesbian or not. It's some weird turn on for many guys. Nevertheless, I don't condone it in any way. As long as you are happy with who you are, don't let it bother you although I know its hard. Good Luck! Peace :)
it hurts her feelings because she allows it too
Not sure whether anyone will still read this: I think it's wrong to kiss just for attention, but if you genuinely enjoy kissing women when you're drunk, and don't do it to get free drinks by men, then that should be accepted. I'm straight, but I had several phases questioning my sexuality, and at the moment I noticed feeling drawn to women when I'm tipsy, and I'd really like to kiss a woman. A friend of mine kissed me once when we were drunk, and it was great. I don't feel attracted to her though. She's not my type. My new years resolution is figuring out whether I at least partially like girls (I'd like to kiss someone), but I'm scared to be judged.
@mayabulletized her argument against these girls is vague and unjustified and amounts to her not liking them because they arent real lesbians which is a complaint akin to skaters not liking "posers"
...whoa. intense dude 0.0
READ
Deuteronomy ch. 22 vs 5.
there is a word in that scripture that starts with an A.
that also speak on homosexuality.
i so agree with the girl. im girly and i love girls. i love my gf. but most ppl dont take our relationship seriously because they think we're fooling around and that we wont last
When the blonde girl told her that they don't judge her for her lifestyle choices so she shouldn't judge them for her choices,
soooo true.
Damn girl got hella heated hella fast in the beginning
@Tr3N3ty
wow, wow, wow.
you must have buried through sooo many comments to find mine. Grat's on you efforts.. i guess.. but ya i don't really remember what i wrote, i think it was about no racism in japan. well there isn't. People are friendlier in general.
That girl in the audience is amazing, she's so strong opinionated and i couldn't agree with her more. I'm sitting here at school watching this and i was just all "YES." and everyone looked at me LOL.
But yeah, she's epic, good on you for getting your point across :)
dayyyuuummmm! get um!
I am gay and proud of it... the lesbian and I seem to have a lot in common. I look straight and I LOVE women
haha seriously! My tv was on in the background while i watched this and I Kissed A Girl came on! Freaky!
agh! that girl is so cute! (the one who is calling them pathetic) jagkljsdfgkla!
@mayabulletized If she feels she has to "prove something" (she fails to specify what it is she has to prove) then that is her problem and she does have the right to berate those two girls for just having fun...those girls are not responsible for guys being turned on (guys would be turned on regardless if they were real lesbians or not) nor are they responsible for any death threats or glares directed at lesbian couples
being a lesbian isn't a choice, trying to get attenchion is.
@eak81190 And btw, I think it's pretty hot when guys kiss each other, but that doesn't mean I take homosexual love between guys less seriously. I know the love between them is the same as the love between a heterosexual boy and girl.
