To dedicate a 43 minute show to how women "get too drunk" is retroactive and not helpful, bc people shouldn't be violently assaulting one another in the first place. Also, the leading questions she always asks "There are 3 pictures of serial murderers and rapists. Which one is the cutest" is SOOO degrading and not a learning moment. The guest was extremely naive and also played a part in the"victim-blaming narrative", but the thing would have been to educate her that its not women's fault if they are assaulted. Sadly, we do live in a world where women have to take certain precautions in all situations, but I think every party involved went about explaining this incorrectly.

Ok! The reason why Tyra put up three murders is because she wanted to make a point that she actually chose a murderer when she claims that she is able to separate who is good and who is bad. If she had what she claims she would have said that all three of them are murders. Easy if she has the ability. But she didn't!! She didn't take that open option! If she had the ability she claims she would not have felt the pressure to choose any of the three. But since she doesn't she chose one believing it was safe when it wasn't.
But...it *was* entirely safe. It's a hypothetical scenario. "Which of these guys do you think is your type?" is a totally harmless question on some talk show. Why should she take it seriously? Also, photos are pretty poor for making judgements about people, especially headshots. There's no motion, no dynamic body language to read. Unless she was claiming she could judge purely based on photos, the experiment is invalid. If her claim was that she could judge based on their eyes, that's also a form of body-language reading, and also one reliant on motion. The best you could do would maybe be to read their moods when the photo was taken.

Yeah, not how this works. For every time someone is hurt or even dies due to statistically risky behavior, there are dozens more who never suffer from that behavior. Think about all the really bad drivers you know, or all the extreme sports athletes who live to retirement, or all the soldiers who actually come home intact. Yes, all of those people are do dangerous stuff, and people die from those things all the time...but lots of people also survive those same situations pretty regularly. And serial killers are actually really uncommon. That's why they make the news. Classic example of selection bias distorting people's view of risk: you don't generally hear much about crimes that never happened.

I lost some respect for tyra to attack the women. I understand the women was naive but at the same time a person becomes closed when there getting attacked. You humiliated her instead of asking questions and not judging, you called her names and judged her full on. If she wants to be closed let her you can't make someone open up because there choosing not to listen. The only thing you can do is give advice and tips for when she's in a situation like that. Yelling at her and calling her names won't do anything and she'll still be in grave danger. I have no hate for tyra but this made me lose a bit of respect for her.

If you start being harsh on someone that you have not a single grain of power over you will get nowhere, and that is exactly what happens on the show. They call her names and she immediatly stops caring about anything the "specialists" have to say.
Also she has a very strong character since it is difficult to convince her. People with weak personalities are easily impressed by everything like for example the celebrities they are talking to, the docters. She isn't phased at all by any of it.
Now I don't say she is right and has a preposterous amount of faith in her ridiculous ability but she does certainly not have a weak character either. No one in this comment has defended the girls opinion at all. Most people think Tyra and her specialist could have had a discussion with her instead of just being rude to her, since that clearly did not help.
But you can't be stubborn if you have a weak charachter xD the definition of having a strong character is to be hard to break, that can be seen as difficult to convince and as to resist a lot of pressure.

Not even close. First off, they are two completely different things. Secondly, it is telling you that there are people out there who WILL punch you and you must know this to be able to protect yourself, but punching and being a serial murderer/rapist are two completely different things, as it is the serial killers/rapists SKILL to appear to be charming, funny, intelligent, and normal to gain your trust, to manipulate you, etc. Murder is like their job to them, whereas someone thats going to punch you in the face doesn't care what you think of them and had to have been angry and was being an asshole prior to them throwing a punch at someone.

If she would have been she could have asked in a humorous way something like "is there even one good guy in this selection?". To this question they cant lie to her. But she wasnt even trying to even look at it in any sceptical way. She was so confident the way how fast she picked one, that she would never think about picking the wrong guy in the first place. It's a purely hypothetical choice based on superficialities.
Ok! The reason why Tyra put up three murders is because she wanted to make a point that she actually chose a murderer when she claims that she is able to separate who is good and who is bad. If she had what she claims she would have said that all three of them are murders. Easy if she has the ability. But she didn't!! She didn't take that open option! If she had the ability she claims she would not have felt the pressure to choose any of the three. But since she doesn't she chose one believing it was safe when it wasn't.
But...it *was* entirely safe. It's a hypothetical scenario. "Which of these guys do you think is your type?" is a totally harmless question on some talk show. Why should she take it seriously? Also, photos are pretty poor for making judgements about people, especially headshots. There's no motion, no dynamic body language to read. Unless she was claiming she could judge purely based on photos, the experiment is invalid. If her claim was that she could judge based on their eyes, that's also a form of body-language reading, and also one reliant on motion. The best you could do would maybe be to read their moods when the photo was taken.

The point of having 3 guys who were murderers was to prove that you cannot tell if someone is dangerous by their eyes. This experiment was not to give her a fair shot at choosing the right one. This was suppose to be a wake up call to say hey a serial killer can have gorgeous eyes but they are still a serial killer.

Yeah, not how this works. For every time someone is hurt or even dies due to statistically risky behavior, there are dozens more who never suffer from that behavior. Think about all the really bad drivers you know, or all the extreme sports athletes who live to retirement, or all the soldiers who actually come home intact. Yes, all of those people are do dangerous stuff, and people die from those things all the time...but lots of people also survive those same situations pretty regularly. And serial killers are actually really uncommon. That's why they make the news. Classic example of selection bias distorting people's view of risk: you don't generally hear much about crimes that never happened.

i only go for guys with blue and green eyes (i have brown, and im not even white) but you can't tell by looking at someone if theyre the 'right person' or even if theyre a good person. that being said, women go home with men they just met, and vice versa, all the time. it's not a big deal.
