I watched the whole day of this evidence and the Inquiry Chairman hit the nail right on the head in the last minute. Why do you have to be so careful with what you say if you’re confident that Horizon had no problems ? He got the answer for whole inquiry in that minute
You are absolutely right. This clip goes to the very heart of the Inquiry. And Sir Wyn (what a good name that is !😂) hits the nail on the head with devastating effect
This is the moment he gets her, and she “understands” the question. This diabolical woman is wholly culpable for the crimes, yet her understanding of the question is predicated by her pious self belief that she is the chosen one, and it is her disciples who deceived her. She never did her job. She sat in her delusional bubble and took the money. She then went on to take more money from other organisations who liked her style She believes that it is all the fault of a cruel world and that she is god’s innocent ambassador. She needs a prison cell whilst she thinks of an answer. Meanwhile the Sub Postmasters have to rely on their lesser god.
As I understand, this issue Sir Wyn Williams raises has two contexts; 1. The POL totally disrespected Sir Wyn when they sought his permission to hand out bonuses to executives while the inquiry was ongoing, Sir Wyn rightly refused to authorise POL to do this however the POL did so and in documents stated that Sir Wyn was in agreement,.. * Sir Wyn instructed his Inquiry to take action, and subsequently the POL executives were summoned to the Governments Select Committee to answer to their actions, and got absolutely torn apart by the Select Committee 2. On Vennells seperate Select Committee she stated that Horizon was robust and no issues with it, and this is what Sir Wyn pounced on - Vennells had spoken to certain executives prior to the Select Committee to get her "ducks lined up" so she was prepared for questioning, and it all severely backfired, because she knowingly lied under oath.. All POL from top to bottom treat Sir Wyn as an doddering old man and like a fool, and now their "chicken's are coming home to roost".. Sir Wyn is no one's fool, and he caught Vennells out "hook line and sinker"..he knew the truth and Vennells knew Sir Wyn knew, and she knew that whatever she said she would be lieing under oath..!! Sir Wyn was awarded his Knighthood for a reason - respect Sir 👍 AND.. Sir Wyn has an expert team with him so good luck with the lies and BS Vennells & POL 😄
Imagine, at your place of work, some money goes missing. You get blamed. If you deny it you are threatened with court resulting in prison. Or if you admit it you just get a suspended sentence or community punishment. So to avoid prison you admit guilt. Over and done with you think. Then your company sues you for court costs because you were found guilty, you owe £350,000 in court costs. Your life ruined. This company is called the Post Office. Their logo is " whatever you need us for, we're here for you". They spent £100 million in expensive lawers to try to avoid paying £58 million in compensation. The class action saw the incorrectly convicted see £20,000 in compensation after court costs. The executive salaries were between £250,000 and £500,000. Post Office investigators were given bonuses for every Horizon conviction
You don't get to be a high court judge for over 20 years without learning some little tricks - this is a masterful trap, expertly sprung. Bravo to Sir Wyn.
Unbelievable struggle to once again present herself in a perfect light when she has just received a judical uppercut for a question that she had not rehearsed an answer to over the past two years with her lawyers . Who are of course aiding and abetting her . All Legal to do so of course too .If you need to run back to your legal team is what he meant ....
Yes, she might have been better to take up the offer of leaving it overnight to come up with an answer. But of course Sir Wyn would have had overnight to put Paula Vennells further into a mire of her own making.
Absolute hammer drop. Reminds me of A Few Good Men. ‘Colonel, I just have one more question before I put Airman O'Malley and Airman Rodriguez on the stand. If you gave an order that Santiago wasn't to be touched, and your orders are always followed, then why would Santiago be in danger? Why would it be necessary to transfer him off the base?’ ie - your actions show the truth. Not your words
Avoiding the query in the query .. which leads then to why, once in the room, she basically threw the document out and lied to Parliament .. underneath, she is a classic opportunist.. which we seem to be living in the-age-of..?
" ..... you'll see the point in a moment....." Devastating comment and code for "we all know you saw the point of my Q immediately, and Im giving you more time to accommodate your discomfort"..
A Chief Executive who doesn't question, doesn't consider the details or underlying purpose of any advice and who takes direction from people without giving thought to their motives? I wouldn't trust her to run lucky dip stand at the local fete.
The soft-spoken Welsh chairman is a veritable Columbo!
“Just one more thing…”
Give the man a cigar!
Savage takedown.
He doesn’t say much, but when he does it is very effective.

It was a superb intervention wasn’t it? Got to the heart of the issue

Pure genius..

Well said.

And Sir Wyn will be writing the text of the findings. And the Met say they are waiting for that text before proceeding with criminal charges.
Love his comment, if you need time to think about it, you can tell me in the morning. A one word question,
“No, no, that’s enough now”. “I’d like your help with the answer”. Devastating.
The first part was directed at people calling out from the public gallery.
Rabbit caught in the headlights. Guilty as hell
“We were lying but I didn’t notice it on the day.”
1:45 this is the moment she knows she’s well and truly been found out
Old ma Vennells fine words buttering no parsnips with Sir W.

They even tried to get the judge removed - the one who found against them
no money went missing, it didn't exist. Completely imaginary, a hallucination by horizon
The bonuses were real though
I get the feeling she was ambushed here. She didn't see this coming, maybe she is not as clever as she thinks she is. 🤔

Easy …. they’re shooting fish in a barrel.

I hear people laughing in the background-gotcha!!
I loved this moment. Sir Wyn asks a one-word question that she can't answer.
She’s played the Prince Andrew “I can be too trusting” card.
Didn't work too well for him...
Absolute hammer drop.

No flys on him!
I am surprised she didn't start crying again.
She was about to!!
You could see she wanted to, her tear ducts let her down.
@@LlewStDavid They need refilling.
BEAUTIFUL!
You can see her sharp intake of breath immediately after her first attempt at answering the question.
One hopes that justice will prevail.🤞
To hide what was happening using weasel words without actually telling a lie.
That’s what her whole testimony has been.
Tell me you’re a liar without telling me you’re a liar…
BRUTAL !

Nailed!!!!!!!
"Because I told them to do that...."
BOOM!
Gotcha?Fear and much anxiety.Long thinking pause.Very careful choice of words.
You don't get to be CEO of a huge company like that and be 'too trusting' of your staff.
I think that's called: Checkmate !!
A Chief Executive who doesn't question, doesn't consider the details or underlying purpose of any advice and who takes direction from people without giving thought to their motives? I wouldn't trust her to run lucky dip stand at the local fete.
If she had worked as hard for her post masters!!
Stumped
Haga leg before wicket 😮
Most of these people just can't say I don't know, its like a sign of weaknesses so you're forced to BS
God help me...comes to mind 😅😅😅😅
She understands the question; but needs time to make up an excuse!
Her silence says it all.
Stuck on stupid in real time.
Didn't question, don't remember, not brought to my attention, and when that fails boo hoo
1:45 . . nearly another "weep for sympathy"
WHY? haha
Bullshit
Can we go to trial already!!!!
