Passau, Dreiflüssestadt in Bayern

Passau liegt an der Grenze zu Österreich sowie am Zusammenfluss von Donau, Inn und Ilz und wird deshalb auch „Dreiflüssestadt“ genannt.Zu Füßen der Burganlage Veste Niederhaus fließt zunächst die Ilz von links und kurz danach von rechts der Inn in die Donau. Das Wasser des Inn, das teilweise aus den Schweizer Zentralalpen kommt, ist grün, das der Donau blau und die aus einem Moorgebiet kommende Ilz ist schwarz, so dass die Donau ein längeres Stück nach dem Zusammenfluss drei Farben (Grün, Blau, Schwarz) hat. Der Stephansdom ist Sitz des Passauer Bischofs. Er ist der größte Barockdom nördlich der Alpen. Die Domorgel ist mit 17.974 Pfeifen und 233 Registern die größte Domorgel der Welt sowie die größte Orgel außerhalb der USA.Jenseits der Donau ragt auf einem Hügel die mächtige Veste Oberhaus auf. Die Sehenswürdigkeiten und die Einkaufsmöglichkeiten in der Stadt und im Passauer Land ziehen zahlreiche Touristen aus dem In- und Ausland an. Von besonderer Bedeutung ist mittlerweile die Flusskreuzfahrtbranche. So gibt es im Passauer Hafen entlang der Donau 17 Schiffsanlegestellen mit insgesamt 29 Liegeplätzen für die Personenschifffahrt.
