In Canada this thing is $479. Honestly REALLY hard to go for it costing that much with a non hacking movement.
it is a sub 500 titanium watch and your only complain is that you cannot set a to the second a watch that will deviate 2 minutes a week ??

Only took 40+ years for Timex to make a usable three hand watch again.
I like that Timex. Once again, Timex is killing it. I wonder if they had a change of leadership over there...their latest watches are on point for a lower priced brand.
One step forward (design), two steps back (movement).
Also I don’t get the ‘Shock resistant’ text because it can’t be.

Miyota does have some 8215 variants that hack, although they’ll still have the stuttering seconds problem.
Great review. Looks like an awesome watch. I own a Timex Expedition rugged field men's watch t49626. I love the look of it. Unfortunately, it appears to be discontinued (maybe a limited edition?). I'm glad I bought it when I did.
I have the James brand x version and I like this one better. Id rather have the regular hour numbers than the solely military hours.
When you consider it's a titanium case, I don't think the price is out of line at all even with a non-hacking movement. That said, I would gladly pay the extra to get a hacking version! Also, personal preference but either move the date window to 6 o'clock or make this a no-date and you've got essentially a flawless entry-level automatic titanium field watch. (Sorry, I really dislike 99% of 3 o'clock date windows, and especially so when they are placed this far inward.)

It absolutely hacks now. I have several watches with this movement.
Timex is so so close. Let's hope they continue down this path. They just need to upgrade the movement and I'm also sure the lume probably could be better too. But all they really need is a hacking movement.
But this is nearly right on point for them.
I think I might pick this up if it's available with discount.
This movement does hack. You can see the same watch from some other reviewers and it is a hacking Miyota movement
I have one lume is actually very good on the hands. Not as good on the numerals.
Worth noting that this version has hacking seconds which differs from the James brand version
To do list:
Ditch the 8000 series
Maybe use a VH31 to bring down cost and "keep the sweep"
Move the date to 6
On Monochrome Watches they've stated that this movement actually hacks. And it should, since Citizen last year also changed the 8203 with 8204 in their entry level watches like the NY series. Overall I really like this piece and as a non LE model it should be also available at an more affordable price than the MSRP.

I like everything about this watch except the date window
*9XXXX series hacking movement type or go with a sweep second hand type of high precision Quartz movement with lower price and this would be perfect for my taste. As it is I'm glad this is no longer a limited production type. Made in USA would be awesome for this model. As is very desirable luxury Timex for sure... I think initial batches will sell out fast.

Some of the Miyota 8 series do hack, even the newer version of the 821a.

I was excited to get my email from Timex this morning with this watch. That is until I saw (on many of the previous James Brand videos) that this is un-hackable. $350 and I can't hack it to my atomic clock???

Unpopular opinion; this watch would be better off as a quartz and cheaper price tag with the savings. I don't really require a shitty automatic moment to feel like a purist with my timex.
Overall a nice watch, but they fell short on the movement. Another close but not all the way there by Timex.
stick a bezel on it so you have a basic timing capability and you have a watch I would have to seriously consider buying.

Why does Timex insist on using the absolute lowest grade miyota movement? $350 for a miyota 8215 powered Timex, no thank you. For $100 more you can get the SWC bunker, titanium, sapphire, sw200(with hacking),same 41mm size, much better lume & antireflective coating I'm sure & 10mm thin. So sorry Timex, try again.

Regardless of competition being better value, I was a Timex fan, owning many. But the last few Timex watches I bought brand new were all horrible.
I’ve had three MK1 models. Hands fell off, crystal was loose in the box, and Indiglo was dead. All three were direct from Timex.
I bought a green Falcon eye, there was a huge scratch on the dial and a hair at 11 o’clock.
I bough a recent solar model, it wasn’t working out of the box. No worries, put it on the window sill for a day. A week later…. Nothing. The watch was DOA.
I’m done with Timex.

It's not the wrist that has to be satisfied with the watch size, it's the brain and many people don't want such a large watch. It's a bit pricey for a watch with an 8xxx Miyota, esp. if it doesn't hack, and a crap strap.
I think watch companies have balls selling watches with Miyota 8xxx and Seiko NHXX movements at over $200. I don't think anything with those movements is worth that.

Non-hacking? Non-starter. Timex just can't quite seem to get all the way there.

Clear from this video is that you're reviewing a watch you've never seen. Don't know if there is lume? Don't know if the movement hacks? You can't review watches if you haven't seen them.
How can you do a review of a watch you don't even have in hand?
