"you're making money off kids that are depressed by keeping them there." I was depressed before listening to Marilyn Manson. I was depressed after listening to Marilyn Manson, but his music helped me get through the worst days. I will always be depressed, there is no cure, there is only coping and taking this one day at a time.
The thing about my depression is that it's purely a chemical imbalance in my brain. So, I'm stuck on daily medication. I've accepted that I'll always have to battle this, but I won't let it get me down.
that's fucking amazing that you're strong enough to think this way. depression is a bitch to deal with everyday, so it really is incredible that you're tough enough to deal with it and have this attitude towards it. much love
"gaylord": speak for yourself, I don´t see why you shouldn´t be a part of the "metal community" just because you have religious beliefs! and I am non-religious personally; open-mindedness is important in any musical community, I believe.
"I don't do charity, I don't have the Ronald McDonald house or something." "Why don't you?" "Is it really safe to have small children stay at my house?"
I thought the first segment was a really open-minded discussion, and the first mother genuinely had questions she wanted answered and seemed satisfied with what she heard. The second, though, seemed to want to grasp at any bone she could to pick with him, and she could not accept his answer--essentially calling him a charlatan, a user, and a liar. I really like how Manson handles himself in these situations. He answers the question directly, and attempts to understand and connect with his critics. That's pretty refreshing when you see so much deflection and attempts to invalidate the individual in interviews with other figures, especially now.
You know what I really admire isn't just how smart he is in addressing criticisms his way, but it's how respectful he is while doing it. The way that he's able to reach a certain level of understanding with these people is something more people should take notice of.
James Behrje No. It is not my place to judge, and perhaps my earlier statement was worded wrong due to my lack of sleep combined with pain medication, but I digress. A person's musical interests does not reflect what is in their heart. Rather, it is just the music they enjoy. Judgment based upon that and not their overall character is just abhorent and not what a Christian should do.
Well I see this all the time, people demand people in the spotlight who make money should give back. My answer to her would be , What do you give back? Would you give away 10% of your annual income? .. Because at the end of the day that's what it is, a millionaire or millionare comes to town, everyone expects them to give away their money but in true, they have worked hard for many years to get what they have. I mean for example, Sia has been broke as fuck your years until recently and she only ever got played on underground stations (who also played manson).. but when she was broke you didn't see her hitting up this Mother (who probably made more than her at the time) for money. People need to stop expecting people to give them shit, it's selfish,it's greedy and it's not how the world works.
IH8COMMERCIALRNB It isn't exactly greedy to ask for charity work which would go to others. I do agree, however, that she was beside the point. As long as Manson pays his taxes, he is giving back to society, and as long as he engages in discussion with his fans or continues to produce art for them, he is giving back to his fans. I just don't think she appreciates the value of non-charity-giving-back.
TheYasmineFlower But it's only expected of famous people. Noone else is expected to donate money to anyone but if you are rich and famous everything thinks they have entitlements to your money.. They don't,it's yours.
@TheYasmineFlower: Actually, it's quite rude and tacky to expect/demand others to be involved in charity in any form, be it by giving money or in other ways. Nobody, and I mean nobody, is obligated (unless court ordered) to do anything towards charity. That 2nd mom needed to get off her high horse and shut up long enough to allow MM to get out a full sentence. She kept interrupting him shortly after he would start talking. One of the things that makes me respect MM so much is how respectful and calm he can be in situations like what is shown in the video. Lord knows I wouldn't have been able to keep my cool if I were in his position.
I totally agree with Janette Gomez...when you are kids, our parents raises us how they want us to be...but we later start doing our own thing when we grow up.....I also was raised as a catholic by my parents...I later considered myself an atheist at 14years old.....my mom would always force me to go to church with her and sign me up for church school without me consent...when I told her that I'm an atheist, all she said was ""If you're an atheist then why do you still consider us as your family?""...I'm sorry that I can't change..because I don't wana be how they want me to be.
I have problems with life and Manson helps me deal, his music encourages me to work on my own music when no one else will support me. Manson has always been there for me. I really want to meet him one day, and if I can even get a music career I would love to hang with him.

one of many reasons i loved my mother. People just need to know that faith doesn't mean closed mindedness. I'll never forget you mama R.I.P.
I have never been able to relate to Marilyn's music or his 'stage persona', but in researching information about him and watching endless hours of interviews and documentaries featuring him and those around him, I have come to really love and appreciate him as a human being. His respectfulness of others, especially those with differing -and at times hostile - opinions about him is incredibly mature, intelligent, and compassionate. I will continue to pray for Him.
Wow the first girl even said she believes in her mom...isn't that the height of being a parent? That lady has the most amazing kid and doesn't even know it
Marilyn Manson just wants kids to think for themselves, people who hate him have never taken the time to listen and interpret what the real message is.
I'm 37 years old, I started listening to Manson when I was in high school and I still do today! He is really smart, positive, open minded, artistic, and knows a lot of things what's happening in the world. We need more people like him in our system.
Dave Lopez Dave.hi . my name is Rob. I've been listening to Black metal since I was 13 (first wave like Venom & Bathory.) Just because I like Black metal doesn't mean that I'd murder or set fire to buildings. I was told as a kid that if I got into trouble all the records would go. I still listen to black metal bands at 44.
Actually back in middle school, my religion teacher told us a story about a girl who's life was saved my Manson's music. That day was the first day I ever listened to Marilyn Manson. I was going through a lot of bullying at the time, and I think his music saved my life as well. I didn't understand the meaning behind his lyrics at the time, but I knew if I killed myself, I wouldn't be able to hear his music again. That kept me going :)

A big part of teenage depression is feeling different, not belong, etc. One of Manson's main messages is don't be afraid to be different, be unique, question the "norm", don't just do what everyone else does, think for yourself, embrace who you are and what makes you unique. Pretty sure that would have the opposite effect of them staying depressed.

"Every person should have a religion", how stupid is people? Don´t she understand that every organized religions are insane controlling movements based on nonfacts? A thinking person don´t need religion I think.
Martin Granberg This would be much more convincing if your statement were remotely intelligible as far grammar. When referencing "A thinking person" you should be sure to make it look at least as though you are a thinking English speaker. If English is not your first language I apologize but I see ignorance in the way you are speaking nothing else.

Martin Granberg just to make sure you understand it - relligion isn't something only naive and stupid people hold to. Some of us believe in God because of hard things we came through and because it'd be (nearly) impossible to have so much luck so many times in situations that never seemed to have a way out. Relligion gives us will power to overcome things, not just saving us from them - sometimes we actually have to survive something instead of avoiding it, partly because avoiding it could've make things even worse. And that will power rests in us for a long time. Even if God wasn't real, we still'd benefit from thinking he exists.
The first one wasn’t that bad, at least she listened to him and made it about her and how she personally feels as a parent about her daughter being a fan of someone like him. The second one just kept going on about how he isn’t giving anything back to the kids who listen to his music, and doesn’t even mention her daughter.
Never been to a Manson concert but i have listened to him since middle school many many MANY moons ago in the 90s and i was very depressed. You know what he gave me? He showed me that i can be different and still have value even if others dont find value in me.
@@razvandobos9759 I liked her the most... I think she just wasn't able to put it right what she wanted to say, I mean it was a big audience and I'd definitely struggle too
It's funny, I remember being like 12 and seeing a poster of Marilyn on my friend's brother's wall and I was terrified. I thought he was THE actual devil. Lol. Now, at 30 years old, I'm baffled by how smart and intellectual he is. So well spoken, and so very smart. I think I've watched every interview he has ever done. I enjoy a lot of his music too. Respectable man. He is living proof that you cant judge a book by its cover.
I have never listened to much Marilyn Manson, but man, I love to hear him in interviews. He's so calm and thoughtful, and it's clear that he creates art and music that speaks to people. I have a lot of respect for the guy.
I feel support from his songs and successes. If a person faced such problems 20 years before my birth, then it means that I also have a chance of success. And mistakes, bad periods and problems do not make me unworthy of happiness or worthless.
yeah, and how the first mother doesn't get annoyed at her daughter listening to him or being close to him because she knows how happy he makes her, that was incredibly lovely to see.
I will admit that even though I don't listen to his music, he's actually a pretty intelligent man and you can tell he's really into the music and I can't help but love him for that.
What does she mean he gives us nothing to believe in? We believe in him. And following that belief we believe in art and beauty and standing on your own. There's this theist obsession with never being on your own, someone is always with you. Why do you need that?
beth I feel like he's more giving the "believe in yourself" vibe. In his own words "be your own god". Worshipping an "icon", blinded by everything that comes close to said icon, creates opportunity for delusional, self centered excuses for rotten morals. In my arrogant opinion, that is
Just because he feels it's unnecessary to start a "worthy" cause doesn't mean he's not giving back. I'm 37 and I've been listening to Manson since he first came out. Yet to this day he's passionate about his music, art and life. He's one of the Realist Rock icon there is. He's truly humble. My point is,he gives 💯on everything he puts out,he's not half ass and that makes me happy. He doesn't feed off of kids depression. If your kid is depressed,it was way before Manson. 😘
lol. My mom likes Marilyn Manson's music. She's kinda disturbed by his appearance and his videos, but she's always let me listen to his music, she didn't believe it would influence me in a bad way. I love my mum :)
I had a guy in my class. He said if it was'nt for Marilyn Manson he had killed himself a long time ago. Saved by Marilyn Mason. I was so moved by that. Thank you Marilyn for saving a kids life.
"Maybe she wants to believe in herself". THANK YOU. Finally someone else thinks that way. I actually wrote a poem about believing in yourself, finding strength and faith in yourself being more important than being religious in the way people tell you to be. I actually titled my poem, "In Oneself I Believe". I thought I didn't have any similar beliefs to Manson but it's nice to know I found something in common with him. Bitchin`.
I respect Mr Manson for being able to effectively communicate his philosophy It challenges me as a preacher of the gospel to be as prepared yet not feel the need to clobber someone over the head because they disagree with my point of view then get loud and abrasive and throw a tantrum because you wont listen JESUS IS LORD AND HE LOVES US ..I pray that God would reveal himself to Marilyn Manson he would be a mighty force for the kingdom of God..until then" SWEET DREAMS BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE"
I kinda agree with you my favorite band is Mayhem and black metal is my favorite genre but i like manson hes the reason i started listing to rock music to this day.
He's such an intelligent man, like he doesn't freeze up to think about his answers o.o no theyre good, short, elaborate and the best they can be. Right off the bat.
This guy seems like a really good guy imo! I only like 2-3 of his most pop songs, but that doesnt matter. What I see in his way of communication is a calmn, a non violent way of saying what you believe in and basically looking out for people not paying attention to their kids and just "bitching" to them as he put it. That is how drugs get into the picture - you dont feel anyone understands your pain/suffering/loneliness or other feelings. And parents should be the people who do!
I used to be goth and depressed and when he went into Mechanical Animals, he was becoming a butterfly from the being stuck in the womb of depression, like myself, and also Madonna came out with Ray Of Light in 1998 and that was like my year of rebirth and enlightenment. It was the year I was happy to be alive and also it made me happy with myself. He saved me along with Madonna and Im still devoted to both so this woman thinks he banks with our depression and shows she doesnt get it. Too bad! :)
I haven't watched the whole of this yet but that first mum was A REALLY FUCKING GOOD MUM. She disagreed with her daughter but acknowledged her opinion and let her continue to enjoy Marilyn's work and was open minded to engaging with the music herself and exploring religion. Congratulations on your parenting, Terri 1.
I'm not even a fan of Marilyn Manson nor do I listen to his music. But this guy is really fucking decent and actually nice to people as ignorant as them. I have nothing but respect for this guy. Him and Eminem. I have the most respect for people like this.
The Last Mom made a great point.. The “Terrys” are now “Karens”
“I bet under that makeup, you’re adorable!”
Oh how Marilyn’s smile dropped…
I love how level headed this discussion went in this clip. Makes me feel happy and hopeful.
" I don't have Ronald McDonald houses."
"WHY DON'T YOU MARILYN?"
"would it be safe to have small children at my house?"
Lolol
Isn't she annoying?
Me recating to his answers for the 9128737th time and still doing that reaction of wooooooaaaw
He does have a charity organization now but he could say the same thing to her, she must have money, why doesn't she give back
Thank you. That's such an arbitrary question.
I have never listened to much Marilyn Manson, but man, I love to hear him in interviews. He's so calm and thoughtful, and it's clear that he creates art and music that speaks to people. I have a lot of respect for the guy.
I love how he actually thanks the fans when they compliment him or say they contributed to him.
I enjoy all 12 of these pixels
I feel support from his songs and successes. If a person faced such problems 20 years before my birth, then it means that I also have a chance of success. And mistakes, bad periods and problems do not make me unworthy of happiness or worthless.
I love how the second mother tells Manson that he’s brilliant.
yeah, and how the first mother doesn't get annoyed at her daughter listening to him or being close to him because she knows how happy he makes her, that was incredibly lovely to see.
I will admit that even though I don't listen to his music, he's actually a pretty intelligent man and you can tell he's really into the music and I can't help but love him for that.
My mother is a MM fan so i come from a awesome family
Arguably the pinnacle of his career.
I've listened to Marilyn Manson since he first came out n still listened to his music he's an awesome guy
He is so well spoken. I am very impressed.
Gotta love how MM handles himself as these mothers try to tear him down.
When I have my kids they will listen Marilyn Manson not the future music... Marilyn Manson is so smart guy I wish him everything good.💖🖤
the first lady's question is really quite nicely worded and well said, she did a good job of voicing her concern
"If they think that an artist can destroy their faith, then their faith is rather fragile" - Marilyn Manson
These Marilyn Manson Fan's are AWESOME....and it's great to notice how much he loves them too
I've never listened to his music really but he's such an awesome guy
What does she mean he gives us nothing to believe in? We believe in him. And following that belief we believe in art and beauty and standing on your own. There's this theist obsession with never being on your own, someone is always with you. Why do you need that?
beth I feel like he's more giving the "believe in yourself" vibe. In his own words "be your own god". Worshipping an "icon", blinded by everything that comes close to said icon, creates opportunity for delusional, self centered excuses for rotten morals. In my arrogant opinion, that is
this is why i love my mom. she is very open minded and loves Marilyn Manson.
I can't help but to laugh. 😂 I LOVE MANSON!!
I LOVE how eloquent he is with his words and his thoughts.
"That could be your religion, maybe it's not supposed to be hers"
SHOUT THAT LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK!!
GO MANSON!!
lol. My mom likes Marilyn Manson's music. She's kinda disturbed by his appearance and his videos, but she's always let me listen to his music, she didn't believe it would influence me in a bad way. I love my mum :)
Can we for once have a show about Mother's FOR Manson?
Bitchin`.
I respect Mr Manson for being able to effectively communicate his philosophy It challenges me as a preacher of the gospel to be as prepared yet not feel the need to clobber someone over the head because they disagree with my point of view then get loud and abrasive and throw a tantrum because you wont listen JESUS IS LORD AND HE LOVES US ..I pray that God would reveal himself to Marilyn Manson he would be a mighty force for the kingdom of God..until then" SWEET DREAMS BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE"
'' i make em happy.. i think, right? ''
thats was fucking adorable lmao
when ever I am feeling down I put on a Manson song it always cheers me up I don't know what that lady is talking about
I don't really like his music but I have huge respect for him. He is a very smart and calm person
Too bad! :)
I've been a fan since the mid 90's I really don't think he is as messed up as people think.
I haven't watched the whole of this yet but that first mum was A REALLY FUCKING GOOD MUM. She disagreed with her daughter but acknowledged her opinion and let her continue to enjoy Marilyn's work and was open minded to engaging with the music herself and exploring religion. Congratulations on your parenting, Terri 1.
what happened to the music industry these days
x factor happened
lance miller Competition shows, internet, "instagram and twitter fame" and all that other bullshit
lance miller, what happened? Don't you like the mumbling rap and the auto-tune? :^(
Eh. Kids these days are no different than when we were kids.
Tiktokers thinkin they can become singers
I'm not even a fan of Marilyn Manson nor do I listen to his music. But this guy is really fucking decent and actually nice to people as ignorant as them. I have nothing but respect for this guy. Him and Eminem. I have the most respect for people like this.
Marilyn Manson would be an amazing father. (:
The Last Mom made a great point.. I’ve personally have been on top and I’ve also have been on the bottom, but when I’m on Top I always tried to give back and I think She’s right people who have success should try and help others and he should start a foundation for depressed kids ... He’d make a great spokes person!
Bless this guy, love him
Thanks Kim
