Kick is desperately trying to win over Liveleak's lost audience, while also trying to present itself as a viable alternative for Twitch.
Which is basically going to fail. Twitch's legitimacy really assuages the feelings of Ad networks that they're not taking a risk. Kick is just meant to funnel kids into crypto casinos, but at some point the investors will want a pivot towards pro-advertising TOS to help offset the cost. Or they just close Kick and all these knuckleheads are left high-and-dry because so many announced their transition to Kick by getting banned hard off Twitch.

But considering he had a multiple day Twitter war with Hasan's editor and then had a, tbh, kind of passive aggressive debate with Hasan on stream while Hasan was on vacation in Japan... I'll call an L when I see it. He acted like an ass and berated Hasan about "Amazon is bad and you work for them, hypocrite, you just want to fearmonger about Kick". I watched it for over 2 hours and I was shocked just how...nonsensical Charlie was being, compared to how reasonable he normally seems. All over the fact that Hasan and Pokimane didn't want to support Kick/Stake given the information we had at the time about the companies. It was cringe.
With that context in mind, I was bored listening to Charlie talk about how bad Kick is and how unmoderated it is. He didn't care about that two months ago, so saying it now just looks like he dragged other streamers and creators for multiple days for no reason. For clout and clicks. If he had a change of heart he could just say it in his video. He's an outspoken guy. But he's just railing against Kick because that's the majority opinion right now. It's not for any moral reason at all.
Mad respect that Hasan still talks nice about Charlie because if my friend or acquaintance pulled that publicly I would be like. Ok yeah we're not talking again? Bye.

Taking advantage of the politeness of Japanese culture for comedy way maybe funny when Tom Green did it 30 years ago. Tom Green was extremely light hearted compared to this though. The primary part of the joke was him making a buffoon of himself, even though he definitely bothered some people doing it.

Something that should get more attention is the people that work with these streamers. A lot of them have a whole crew of people following them around setting these things up. I'm sure some of these streamers feel they can get away with what they do because they have 4 or 5 of their friends/co-workers following them around ready to jump in if needed. They need to be exposed right along with the main streamer.

As a foreigner in Japan, it’s sad to say, but I really want a full ban on IRL streamers. Even with the positive examples Hassan gave, Japanese people regularly complain about ‘foreigners’ streaming all over Shibuya and it reflects on those of us who live here.

Really the problem with this, and other related issues relating to clout and corruption, are that it seems that society has decided not to feel shame. Without us realising that our actions will allow us to have feelings that amount to embarrassment and shame, we can't really regulate our behaviour to not perform those actions.
I am not saying we should really embrace shame as a way to police our own behaviours, but it's the fact there must be some things intrinsically we must feel are wrong, and we probably shouldn't do.
Before i get ripped, I know shame and self-policing has been a way to overcorrect, and oppress people throughout history, I am not calling for this, but the understanding that you are doing things to people, that you would not like done to yourself is a pretty universal way to see that this probably a bad idea

There's countless content creators that make a living out of behaving like complete assholes and the shittier their behavior, the more views and the more money they make which only reinforces that. My fiance grew up in Japan and she was 1. a little bit blown away that someone has a following like that harassing people (she’s not as terminally online as I am), and 2. thought it was hilarious that he’s getting detained. Japanese prison is no joke - one of the people she went to high school with got arrested entering the country with weed and they allegedly did sensory deprivation therapy to him while he was detained. No idea if that’s true or not, but kinda hoping that guy gets hit with something similar if it is

As someone who is just trying to build a small community streaming I’ve just had an easier time on Kick. Honestly all this has made me rethink my platform but being a small creator it’s hard to keep bouncing around. All I want to do is build a like minded community.

I did this as a kid. One of my worst sins I committed going through my demonoid phase was that I would insult a guy over and over until he chased me, just because I felt a thrill out of being chased by someone and potentially being caught.
