My neurosurgeon has told me he cant help. I'm getting no sleep pain in my neck, jaw, nose ,face. Migrains, burning agony down my left arm, losing my balance. Not sure what my next steps are. Just know without help I wont be able to function. Bladder ,bowel issues even though he said it was mild. Wish he could live in my shoes. Not getting any sleep as soon as evening come round it gets worse. Most nights I'm in tears. So sorry to go on

Please talk about spinal cord injuries that are caused by compression over time like myelomalacia & how it causes permanent myelopathy. There isn't enough discussion about this even after ACDF is preformed.

I was diagnosed in April of moderate cervical myelopathy. As I expected, neurologist observed upper body relatively unaffected but walking and balance profoundly worsened. Planning to get surgery soon though told Id be out of work at least 6 weeks.

I’ve had both of these surgeries at age 41. My surgeon didn’t want to do the surgery when I was 34 so now I’m stuck with good and bad day. Any advice I could give would be don’t put off surgery if you have myelopathy and radiculopthy

@@joerobert-qe9cn I have a second lot a scan's, neck motion X-ray, CT, and MRI done this week and the surgeon is going to let me know what options are available. Surgeons have so far suggested surgery to prevent further deterioration. However, they said it will not fix the current problems (neck, shoulder, arm pain, dizziness, instability (I close my eyes and it is like I am drunk). This all started last year (October) while I was at work. I went to lift my arms and pain ran down my neck, shoulders and arms, it was so intense I could not move my arms for 15 mins. Lifting anything set the whole thing off again. Not looking forward to any surgery (scary) Cheers.

I have redicumyleopathy then. My specialist said it was caused by my bones not growing right as a teen. That's not on your list of causes He said he would operate. My balance is bad, drop things, numb hands and I'm dizzy. Now he wrote to a neurologist saying degenerative changes only and nothing more he can do. He has left me a year. I throw up in the mornings with dizziness I am mid fifties. I think hes forgotten what was on the mri.

My Aged Mother in her early 80's at the time, went for a "Revision Knee" replacement.
But, it became infected, and she had to go for what they called a "Washout" but this is
when her "Real" problems started. She was driving at the time, but here in the UK where
most cars are "Stick Shift" she began to select the wrong gears, either revving the engine,
or causing it to stutter. I don't drive due to medical reasons, and said, "Mum what has
happened" she had been driving since 1975. Then she began to either oversteer, or
understeer. I told her she would have to give up driving. But she began to deteriorate,
to the point that she lost both arms, and eventually her legs. She became incontinent
at both ends, even losing her speech at the end. She was placed in a "Nursing Home"
where she eventually "Passed Away" We went to her Funeral only last Friday April 19.
If anyone out there is told they have "Cervical Myelopathy" and Surgery is the only option.
Then get it done, my Mother, before she lost her speech, wished she had opted for
Surgery. She may have still been here now, if she had the Surgery, to reverse the Spinal
    Cord compression in her neck.

Why didn't she get it done? Just curious

    • @garydunn3037
      @garydunn3037 3 месяца назад

What the operation? she did say just months
before she died. She wished she had it done.
Then maybe she might have still been here.
