Man, when Donald turns at the end with that grief and tears in his eyes, and says, "I love you too," to where his voice cuts out because he is choked with emotion - that is intense!! I saw this when I was 19, in 1981, and it provided a catharsis for something I had endured for some time, this was an interesting fresh take.
This is the very best brief analysis of the film ever. You've said it all. It leaves me with so many new things to consider--all over a film we dissected in screenwriting class at UCLA more than forty years ago. Many thanks.
This is an excellent video, man! You hit all the points that this movie hits as hard as it does, and is so effective.

Nicely done.
A marvelous film.
I can not believe "Ordinary People" was Judith Guests' DEBUT novel. Wow!
Not enough words to express how truly wonderful this film is! Thanks for sharing ❤
