    I have had a pair 9f DT770 from the late 80's and although have been back to Beyer a couple of times for servicing of drivers they are still going strong. That's longevity for you.

    They are excellent for everything except cases when you need to block outside sounds. I've had them for over 10 years now, only changed the cups padding twice. The main point is that they give great detail and sound stage with overall neutral sound. This means that all one needs to do to satisfy any need is basically EQ. I've got those, my wife got her own, several of my friends got those. It's just an ultimate pick-and-forget choice. Gaming, music, electric guitar recording, whatever, they are just really good. Be ready that you might hear things which you never heard before, but which were always there. When buying I've compared those to 770 pro and 880 pro and ended up picking those, they gave me the best stage and detail over those 3.

    Both the closed-back 770 Pro and the open-back 990 Pro are not just for Monitoring and Content creation.....if you like to listen to HD music and you want a Neutral sounding headphone then these are amazing choices. I use both in different circumstances just to listen to music and I love the neutral sound that they produce. It's exactly what I want in a headphone to enjoy music, unlike other headphones that enhance the bass or other parts of the sound.

      @@r00xano12 As a music producer I would suggest the DT770 Pro's (they've got quite a big bass end lift...don't know what mike it talking about). I would never mix on 770's due to this...but they are a great tracking headphone...sound much better, but also leak more than Beyer DT100 (though I prefer the Senn HD280 for critical recording situations). The 990's are a very well priced mixing headphone...I think the AKG712 is better...but it costs over twice the price. For music enjoyment..if you like a strong bass end, DT770 Pro will make you happy.

    • @BearBlair
      @BearBlair 7 месяцев назад

      Actually they are specifically designed for monitoring and mixing. That's the point of the headphones and why they were made. The side effect from that is they are accurate, comfortable, and neutral sounding.

    • @BearBlair
      @BearBlair 7 месяцев назад

      @@nicholasestrada6341 PCI-e sound cards are a scam. They are just old hardware that hasn't been improved upon in like 10-15years. It's mostly just recycled hardware from when they were actually useful. Now a days, even the cheapest name brand motherboard have better sound cards than you can get for PCI-e. If your getting the 80 or 250ohm version.. get a proper amp, not a sound card.

    For casual consumption, listening to music, watching movies and playing video games, would you recommend this headphone? Or should I go with the DT770 Pro instead? I personally am not fan of leather earcups unless done right (e.g. the HyperX Cloud II Gaming headphone really have comfy ear cups, however, the rest is just plastic garbage unfortunately).

    • @SoundGuys
      @SoundGuys  5 месяцев назад +3

      These headphones certainly do well for casual consumption! Just be mindful that because the DT 990 Pro are open-back they're best suited for quieter environments. They won't block out sounds like construction noise or traffic outside your house.
      If you like the Beyerdynamic sound but want isolation, the DT 770 Pro is a good alternative. Hope this helps. Happy listening!

    • @SoundGuys
      @SoundGuys  7 месяцев назад +7

      Honestly, any of the Beyerdyanmic DT-series headphones can serve those purposes well. Which one really depends on needs and price. If you prefer open-backs for a wider soundstage, you'd be content with the DT 900 Pro X. If you want to save some cash, the DT 990 Pro can often be found at a much lower price. If you want headphones with good isolation and no sound leak then you'll want a closed-back pair like the DT 700 Pro X. Again, if you want to save some cash, the DT 770 Pro is a really good option. Hope this helps. Happy listening!

      I've personally had these for over a year and work from home. So I have used these literally everyday since then. I have dropped these down out wooden stairs, accidently ripped them by the cable while still plugged in, and played them at very loud volumes. Admittedly dropping and ripping decently expensive headphones isn't a good idea, it was an accident, but they held up just as if it never happened. Definitely don't go doing this on purpose, you milage will vary depending on how hard these things gets rough housed. Overall, most comfortable pair of headphones I've used in the last 15 years, and the sound quality is pretty nice. It's not the boomy super bassy sound you'd get from Beats, its a neutral leveled sound. They are mixing headphones designed to be very accurate to the instrument/vocalist/sound. The bass is still very pleasing, it doesn't lack in that dept. but its not Beats Bass, where is very muddy and loud and overarching where it's really all you can hear. I was worried when I heard that before buying, very happy I ended up going the neutral balance route in the end though.

      @BearBlair 7 месяцев назад

      @@wypych1209 If there's loud sounds in your environment I would suggest closed back headphones. The DT 770s are closed back and are similar but were made for monitoring instead of mixing. They will sound different, not bad, just different. Although, if noises from the construction are really loud, I would try looking into passive or active noise cancellation headphones. If you have airpod pros or galaxy buds, i'd try those just to see if you'd like active noise cancellation. If not, I would try to find some good passive noise cancellation. Active means it monitors the surrounding noise, and plays back the inverse of that signal to try and minimize the sounds you don't want to hear. Can be better then Passive at times, other times Active can be better.

    • @BearBlair
      @BearBlair 7 месяцев назад

      the 560 verses the DT 990s basically are so close it's a negligible difference for most listeners. Yes there is a difference, but the difference isn't in quality, its in how the headphones are tuned and how the sound stages differ from each other. The tuning on either pair can be aligned to sound basically indistinguishable. It just comes down to whether you want a more versatile sound stage (go DT990s) or a narrower sound stage (go 560s). That's the biggest difference of the two you mentioned that cannot be changed without messing with the actual design of the two pairs of headphones. Everything else can be very easily changed with simple and free software.
