I was debating on the method to use, 1 or 2, and you've swayed me in the right direction. Thanks! Using the additional track is a lot better as it always applies the same effect so I don't have to recreate the settings each time I need to use it. Great!
I'm working on a Halloween video right now in which I'll be using this and taking advantage of the Track Level technique. Thank you for showing how it is done and explaining why I don't want the clip level method.
I was was trying to do exactly this just a few days ago. I figured it out using a VST called Valhalla Supermassive except for getting it to continue on after the clip. This is going to help the effect I'm going for. I want the echo to continue on one word while I can have normal dialogue continue with the echo on the last word still finishing. Until now I had to just have an akward pause while I waited for the echo to finish. The rest of the video series is going to benefit from this.
10:35 This is fascinating because it's basically what a surgeon does when a person loses part of their face. They take another piece of flesh, say from the buttocks or calf and use that to reconstruct the face.

Great timing. I just submitted a bid to get a project where they want the segments "really artsy" and in the last round the producers used some hard audio effects on the dialogue like echo and doubling and phasing. (usually that would be a fail for me). Your tips will help me start playing with some options. Otherwise I just don't get the Fairlight page at all even for basic levels matching and I've used Pro Tools, Cubase and others years ago.
What if you want different effects on different parts of your timeline. You have to create a differnet track each time leading to lots of track and a messy timeline, so adding to clips works better then perhaps?
Depends on the types of effects you want. You can apply them to just the clips if you'd like. You can use tracks as well, but you probably wouldn't need one track per clip. Maybe clips with certain FX go in one track, etc. Just depends on how you want to set everything up....
For some inexplicable reason, the effects (all effects) never work. Is there some master switch somewhere that I have to click first to allow effects to be added to a clip? I have tried dozens of tutorial versions in the past to no avail. The only effect that works in Fairlight is "Voice Isolation," which is a filter, I believe, compared to actual effects. I am a long-time guitar player with extensive guitar effects wet-dry-wet in stereo and can patch any type of effect however I want. There has got to be a switch that allows effects to work in Fairlight that I haven't been able to find so far. Any ideas?
@@JasonYadlovski noo then why only latest two and a vedio that you uploaded 12 days ago are playing in background and others don't looks like RUclips glitch because it is not playing on another phone even after update
If you already have a track, it should just copy it into that track. If there isn't another track available, it will create a new one automatically.....🤔
@@JasonYadlovski The effect is there but the preset menu is empty. Well, it's only a few days till 19 comes out. I should probably do a clean installation when it comes out.
Hi Jason, thanks this is just what I was after..for some reason the effect works great when I'm in fusion..when I go back to edits I don't hear it anymore(!) Am I doing something wrong?
As long as the effect is on the track level, it should work in the edit tab as well. I'd double check everything and then also try rendering out just that small section and see if it works when rendered.
thanks for the response! It's a really short clip as I'm experimenting..the FX is on Audio 2, I've just tried the 2nd method in Edits, still not working, exported it and not working..but it's there in Fairlight@@JasonYadlovski
Everytime people ask me "why don't you use premiere pro", i tell them "there is this amazing youtuber called Jason Yadlovski" :D

Thanks for the info. I love the echo and delay effects. I was waiting for the echo effect on your last "peace" at the end of the video.😅
You're welcome! Maybe I should have thrown on the effect at the end there. 😜
Very nice tip..putting it on the audio trackninstead of the clip. Thanks for this valuable tip.

How your vedio can be played on background without youtube premium??🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
I don't think you need YT Premium to do that.....I don't have premium.

When I option click and drag the clip below, it creates a separate track even though I already created one. Is that a bug?
If you already have a track, it should just copy it into that track. If there isn't another track available, it will create a new one automatically.....🤔
great
I'm on 18.6 and don't have any presets for the Delay effect.
Did you create those?
It's a standard effect, it might be in a different effect menu. It should be in there....🤔
@@JasonYadlovski The effect is there but the preset menu is empty. Well, it's only a few days till 19 comes out. I should probably do a clean installation when it comes out.
Oh, I see, most of the effects do not have any presets already created, you have to create your own. 👍

It's so stupid that DaVinci doesn't allow automation for effects...
Yes, you can automate effects. Any parameter of effects can be automated
