Thank you for this. I am fixing a model my grandfather built in the 1950s. it is a task that I his Grandson will complete. My grandfather sailed on the Pamir for many years.
Now I know why he built it. It us a beautiful ship with sails up.
    Emotions are flooding me.

Wow! Like I mentioned. I could have done an hour long video and still only covered 1 per cent of the vessels amazing history.

Interesting to see she visited so many S Aussie ports and that she was a barque, pronounced 'bark', because most of my ancestors arrived here in such vessels after the 100+ day voyage. Actually the German spelling is bark, why we adopted the froggy version I don't know.

Greetings Jim. I googled the etymological origins on barque. It comes from the Latin word for boat. Barca = Barker in Latin. Reduced to Bark/Barque somewhere along the track. Via French? However the Romans stole Barca from The Egyptians or Celts! Interesting how different language accumulate and morph words. Great hearing from you.

Have you done one on the Ballantynes fire? I saw the memorial in the Bromley cemetery the other day.

Greetings there Ox, I am umming and arhhhing about totally NZ. stuff currently. It may surprise you but I get more views from the U.S than N.Z. My N.Z viewership averages around 35%. If N.Z subscriber numbers increases I will certainly put this on the 'list to do' mate.

That 3rd Mate was lucky as he sailed under Eriksson shipping from Åland or earlier.
I have read a book about the last grain regatta. The kaptain from Finland / Åland was astonished and in mourn because it was a good ship which hade went thrue many severe storms without damages.
As the narrator says in this video. Minute 1:50
I beliewe the ship went down due to political correktness. Inkompetent re design.
Inkompetent omkonstruktion.

I went to Valparaiso which is a bit rough & ready student port town. The Air BNB we stayed in the owner only spoke German and Spanish. There was an Anglican Boys School down the road and C of E church not far away. Place has an incredible history,

I cannot see how the wharfies can load grain wrong. The ship sailed . The grain may have moved and this would be caused by the weather. The only problems I can see is the holds were not full,.
