- I will show you step-by-step how to trowel a Lime Based Venetian Plaster finish on a fireplace!
This natural matte finish is lovely, and is perfect for so many areas… fireplace, range hoods, and of course full size walls! The product I am using is Marmorino KS, and its easy to work with once you get the hang of using a trowel. This is definitely a potential DIY project!

The renovation company removed the upper bricks , did some reframing to meet new codes, then applied the Sheetrock.,
However , yes you can apply lime plaster directly to bricks using a technique called a German Schmear! I made a video you can watch!

Yes there are some products that would work for that, but not all
Venetian Plasters would.I would recommend you call Mave at Mave’s Decorative Market in Wisconsin and she will help you find the right product!

When you say vernich, is the plaster dry? So what does pulling the troll do if it’s dry?

How do you get the corners so crisp? Did you use any corners? Would you have to put wire mesh corners for brick?
I was going over finished sheet rock not directly over brick so the corners were already sharp.
I’m not sure what you are asking re mesh? Are you wanting to skim completely over brick ?
Ok. Yes. I am trying to figure out how to cover old rough uneven, and textured brick. I have seen a few videos where they used some kind of wire mesh on the corners of the brick and added I think some kind of base plaster before the Venetian plaster.
I’m not sure about the metal mesh corners. If you want to flatten out first, you could fill the mortar lines with actual mortar. Whatever you use for the full skim coat , make sure it’s a very hard product that isn’t prone to shrink or cracks. From there you can apply a softer Venetian plaster.
Hy i order venetian plaster but its lime based venetian plaster so it cant be burned and pokished without soap,right?Im confused also have acril and is great.explain me for lime based venetian,please
@@snakes111b there are many types of lime based Venetian plasters available, some can be burnished and some cannot. For you know which type you bought?
@@snakes111b the grain or aggregate in different plaster are different sizes, and basically the grainier plasters aren’t able to be polished or burnished. Many of those are exterior rated. The more delicate plasters can be burnished or polished,and then sealed with “soap” or wax to protect the finish.
I know, it’s confusing. Lime plaster is quite different than acrylic, and the rules aren’t the same at all.
The best thing to do is buy from a distributors who can walk you through it. I recommend the Plaster Center in Minneapolis. (I know they are actually having a free two day seminar very soon! )
