1:16 The significant issue is pilot error. The pilot error is flying a ciniwhoop in a way they dont fly. Every traditional fpv pilot has been able to save 99% of the yaw snap problem when it happens. But thry understand ciniwhoops will do that. Especially the Avata. It has big, thick prop guards. It's top heavy. It's underpowered. It's a great drone. Does what it was designed to do extremely well.
Well I rewatched this again, he was almost doing 15m/s (50km/h)when it crashed in the water back then en in all his tests with really sharp turns was only about 7 to 8m/s... So you will need to restest. There was only one 14m/s moment, but that was a gentle turn...The difference is about 30km/h and 50km/h. I want to see 50KM/h turns...
@@gabrielegabryxconcli7667 I can tell you.. I flew my first manual flight... And tested it... Immediately made it crash. Even latest firmware. I was very low to the ground.
What is the manufacture date of the first batch of this drone ? I dont have a controller to check flips n turns manurers.. Any ideas how to check through motions controller ?
1:46 they did. They only sold the avata with a motion controller and made you buy the fpv controller. Then, they force you through a bunch of extra steps before you can fly in manual mode. Im sure the next fpv drone won't suffer from this design issue.
Thank you for the update! I hope DJI fixed the issue, I really want to join the DJI and FPV community and just wondering which one to choose for me first drone.
That depends. If you want to do yaw snaps, rolls spins, and flips, don't buy the avata. It's a ciniwhoop, not a freestyle drone. My avata hasn't experienced that problem because I fly it like a ciniwhoop.
Haha give it a week. :) - Thanks for your content Rob. Not to discredit your new testing at all : from my perspective : The field "air state" won't give you the same results as the over the water rock ledge. When you flew your AVATA over the rock drop off there could have been an unstable air vortex or down draft specifically on that ledge. During that high speed turn your Avata may have been on the wrong place at the wrong time. But to me it looked like it did an esc desnyc. Just thoughts not at all criticism. I applaud your work. I am hoping DJI works this issue out so I can trust this quad over cliffs and water.
When i crashed. Zero wind, maybe at tops 1m/s When i flew now, 6.7 m/s, a huge difference. I have a high speed test coming up soon, hoping for the same result🤞 Agree, i still don’t trust it completely to fly over water too.
It's happening to alot of other pilots in a myriad of situations which negates the "unstable air vortex" theory by a large factor. Interested to know if they sent your new Avata with a firmware update.
Been saving up to get an Avata before the year ends and it's kinda assuring to hear that from DJI! I think they tweaked some stuff on the drone but anyway! It's all good news!
You may say that the Avata is back in stock, but this is a video working in manual mode and both their two-stick controller and DJI's neutral density filters are STILL "Out of Stock" If you can't fly in manual mode or shoot videos with their filter, I wouldn't call that "In Stock"
thats good Rob, i would suggest for you to try it once again before taking out above water.. especially in windy area, just to be sure do also a dive, cinewhoop pretty much suffer propwash from it
Good work Rob. Unsure if their apology to you means bad unit or bad batch. Guess we’ll find out with more early owners trying it. I’ll push mine next time I’m out flying.

It's not an issue with all Cinewhoops, they don't just flip over from a yaw turn, not unless something is wrong with the Cinewhoop. There is/was an issue with some Avata's.
You were going faster and at a downward angle maybe into the wind in the turn. It's a power to weight ratio issue. Axis motors makes a motor upgrade that gives it adequate power
It dose have benefits DJI knows you have 100k viewers that could possibly blacklist them. They know there is a good chance pushing you around will be harder than someone who has no voice.
I don't think they have fixed it. Perhaps you're more aware of what is happening and more adjusted to countering it this time. I also don't get why pilots are flying a cinewhoop style drone like it's a 5inch. The Avata is not made to be flown fast and sharp. More slow and wide.
@@RobHK Even at low speed? If so then definitely a problem. I could be completely wrong and maybe dji has fixed it up. In your case I really hope they did because it's a great drone to fly. Nice to see you back in the air with the Avata mate, the stumble still exists but it is not as bad as it used to be. You need to add roll and pitch. It doesn't take as much stick movementt as you think to make a hard turn. But those full stick yaw spin not only look bad, but will cause loss of lift. Lastly it's a cinewhoop. You wouldn't drift a minivan around a corner.
Eventually, it will happen again, with the right wind direction...the Avata was not designed as a race drone. People that wants to do flips and rolls and more ....just build a $400 race drone for it , ridiculous to push the envelop on a $1,400.00 crash
