Easy to follow and thorough step by step tutorials do it yourself (DIY) to help you with your broken lawn and garden equipment including snowblowers.
I do my best to teach you how to easily diagnose problems the fastest, quickest and most efficient way with real repairs beyond just replacing a spark plug. These tips are for both the homeowner and shop owner.
Whether it be a handheld, two stroke, two cycle engine like a chainsaw, weed eater, weed wacker, string trimmer, grass trimmer, line trimmer, hedge trimmer, strimmer, brush cutter, leaf blower, or four stroke, four cycle units like a lawnmower, wood splitter, lawn tractor, snowblower, pressure washer, generator or a ride on mower that needs parts installed or replaced, I’m your go-to guy.
My favorite brands of spark plugs are NGK and Champion and are the ones I recommend.
I’ve been a small engine mechanic for many decades and also run my own repair shop so my videos are loaded with tips and tricks that I have learned and want to share with you. You will also find many tool and product reviews from top brands on my channel as well.

thanks for the info. this helped out really goood.
Got a free Craftsman LT1000. It had been sitting outdoors for at least five years.
Both the rear tires were flat... Replaced the carburetor for $89, Rear tire tubes for $26 and the blades for $32 and later the mower deck belt for $16, air filter $14, oil change $4, cup holder $5. It runs great and has earned its keep already this summer.
You can't appreciate a lawn tractor until you've spent 30 years pushing a mower....
Exce!!ent instructions and video! I really needed that information since I am replacing the carb on my old (22 years) 42" Craftsman mower. I'm 82 years old and getting forgetful 😊. Thank you!!
Your video is so clear that it make me impatient to replace my carburetaor .
Bravo !
+Ma Pa lol
Absolutely great video. Replaced the carb on my 23 year old Murray with a B&S 14.5 motor.
Couldn't have been easier. Thank you!
Beautifully done video. I'm dreading replacing a carburetor on my old Bolens, so this was very timely for me.
I'm a simple person. I love listening to and watching small engines run. It's very satisfying to see and engine running after not starting for after a year and a half. I experienced a similar scenario after your videos helped me to get an 18-year-old gas trimmer going that had not started for three years.
Thanks so much for this video! I'm doing this, this weekend along with adjusting the valves and changing the oil.
Great vid!!! I kept scrolling on other vids that took me nowhere but this one was right on point. Thanks for doing this for people!
One of the best-presented and useful instructional videos. Many thanks.
Great video. I was wondering where all of those small plastic pieces that came with the new carb went. I have been searching for days. The way you explained the choke process, Great video.
Excellent Video with step by step instructions. I found that the choke control lever was a little different that the original. There was a small plastic vertical knob that interfered with the air filter housing. I simply cut the little knob to make it like the original carb. Don't forget to attach the solenoid cable to to the bottom of the Carburetor. my 14.5 hp engine has never run better.
Excellent vid, I replaced the carb on my briggs 12.5 flathead a couple years ago and it fixed a surging problem the engine had
Never changed a carb on one of these things. Epic video! Explains it perfectly! I appreciate it! Subscribed to your channel 🤘🏻
Thanks Donyboy, you made a great job, very helpful.
Thank you so much for posting this video it was very helpful.😀😀
I work on mowers in my spare time here in texas and 2 times last year I had customers said motor ran at way to high r.p.m. well I found the screws fell out of the butterfly for throttle and of course the screws on one got imbedded in head butterfly did not make it past valve the other butterfly broke in half never found it and 1 screw have you ran into this problem thanks for all the time you put into teaching everyone how to repair the machines
you're welcome dude, just in time for spring repairs
I've been looking and looking for this info! Good quality, easy to understand video. Thank you very much.
Nice video - I have a slightly different carb - 593432 for a Snapper RideOn - but this was still a help and love that it is high quality video.
Great video Donyboy. Very helpful. Thanks.
Hey Donyboy, I applied this video to my Murray 17hp Tecumseh engine, and it worked out beautifully. I appreciate your help! Thanks

Very well done! Easy to follow and understand. Thank you!
You’re the man! Thanks so much for saving precious time
Every time i watch your videos i want to run out and start working on one. But since it is about 11pm here, i think i will wait. Thanks for another good one.
Excellent video! Thanks. Exactly what I needed.
You make my day... I clean my carburetor, put it back in place, and the engine never work so well!-)

Good job! I do those all the time.
Thanks for the video and the details which I would have found very useful when I had the smaller 3.5 HP engined grass cutter.
God bless you always donyboy you are a good person you help millions of people.thanks again
thanks
Another Great Job, Thank you!!!
thanks joseph
Thank you!!! Runs great now.
Thanks for your videos. They are clear and understandable. I now have a mover that is running like new. Its 12 years old Thank Again
you're welcome
Donny you're awesome! I appreciate you
Very useful, thanks Donyboy - the video is also a very good quality.
I came here to see how the governor cable and spring hooks up to the throttle butterfly lever. I am reinstalling my carb (after a strip, clean and paint of the entire tractor) and the throttle stays open all the way - just with more or less tension according to the plastic slider position that is controlled by the throttle cable. Is this right or should the governor close the throttle when the throttle cable is pushed to the idle position?
dony - Great video - just bought a Craftsmen 15.5 HP 42" Lawnmower Tractor. This thing has not been used in a couple of years I think. I am ignorant when it comes to this kind of stuff. Am now retired so am going to have to learn. Your video is very good with the exception of sometimes the attention to detail in camera work and instructions for us administrative types is lacking, but it is the best I have found yet on You Tube. Try to focus in on the links, springs, etc. Watch your fingers
This was a good explanation,thanks!🇩🇰👍
Fascinating. Great camera work.
reat video, sat laptop on my workbench while replacing my carb. Great presentation and great explanations. the former carb was flooding out the engine. With new carb on it ran, but smoked like crazy. I figured the exhaust was full of oil and gas from the former flooding so went and cut grass for 40 minutes. It eventually cleared up mostly, but not all. I am wondering why it would now smoke and if it could be the valves? I had lockup on start and found a video on setting the valves and that solved the starting issue, but why would it now smoke?
I have a JD 155c that I want to do this too, but instead of replacing the carb, I want to perform maintenance. Do you have any videos that show how to do that? Will be checking in a sec.
You are so good teaching God bless you e.g...you help me a lot with your videos thank you very much
thanks Mike
Simply the BEST!
Thanx for answering, and your video`s are helpful!
thanks for the video extremely helpful!!!
Dony, once again an excellent video! very helpful! very easy to follow! clear steady video, no camera shake! the best on you tube! Danny would you be able to show us how to clean this carb, and maybe rebuild it? Cleaning would be great because I have to do mine very soon, and the engine and carb look almost exactly as this one. I followed your other video where the engine is in the vise. very good, but the carb is not exactly as this one. and I don't want to miss cleaning any hole or orifice. Thanks Dany And have you done a video on cleaning and tuning up a big brigs flow jet on a horizontal shaft engine like a 12 hp.? as I could use that video also soon! Thanks again.
Will try them. Thanks
Thanks for a great Video DonyBoy
you're welcome
thanks patrick
Love this video. My grandma's lawn tractor wont stay running unless the choke is closed but eventually sputters out anyways after a few minutes. Should I just do this and replace the carb?
Great detail on this video as always on your great site. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Smashing tutorial as allways :-)
So nice to fit new parts that you know are spot on :-)
I enjoy your channel. Thanks.
Great video dony, as always. :)
Thanks Eddie. I had thought of JBW but not with a coat hanger. I may try it if I can think of a way to support the hanger while it is drying. Maybe I could leave the carb on the engine (drying position would be horizontal) and set the hanger on a wood block laid at the bottom of the engine compartment. Another way might be to remove the carb and lay it on its side on my workbench and just hold the hanger in place for however many minutes it takes for the JBW to firm up enough to hold it.
Do you have any videos for the Kohler Command 14 Pro Series engines used on John Deere and Scotts 42" lawn tractors? General Maintenance, oil change, carb service , etc.?
Question:
where I connect the black wire that comes from the solenoid?
Please help!
Excellent, thanks.
thanks,........ will do this weekend.
nice to hear
Nice vidoe Dony!
The filter on that mower is made for systems with a fuel pump. I guess it has been working fine. Always wondered what difference it makes.
Dony I have a carb prob. Same as the one u did in this vid. It has a different solenoid on the bottom of the bowl. It was leaking so I tightened the solenoid and it broke. Can I replace the solinoid or do I have to replace the carb???
i'm going to use it for future videos
Thanks donyboy
Good stuff my friend.
Thanks a lot, got one coming.
I am in need of help. How do you install a "switch stop"? I'd really appreciate it, thank you.
great video! THANKS!!!
Hello thanks for this great video, looking for a carb for my sabre 1438gs, briggs Model 287707, found your video but im not sure if this carb will fit my mower, I found #799727 on amazon for 90 but it doesn't seal the plastic part , I guess exhaust, (Chinese carb) where can I found the original one just like the one you are showing ? in the USA? thanks in advance
Awesome and detailed as usual1 "Liked"!
This was exactly what I needed. I feel confident enough to repair my carburetor on my own now. Thanks so much!
Great video, I have 2 questions:
1) how long did the replacement take?
2) when you work on machines, do you do any clean up? like power wash?
Thanks for great video. I have fuel 'standing' in the carb throat. I paper toweled it out and tried to start, but it starts then stops like running out of gas. Is float stuck?
Don I followed your video very closely, the new carb went on great. Lawnmower started right up, but keeps surging. when i put the throttle to low it runs smooth, but when I try to get some speed it starts to surge and then quits. What can I do to get this running better? Thanks for the video and help.
thanks
Will the connector on bottom of carb work either way? I forgot Wich way it cam off and it goes on both ways.
Many thanks from Italy. compliments. very good video. also audo very good. Helpfull.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hi, I have a Huskee Supreme 25.0HP 50 in. deck from Tractor Supply, probably almost 8 years old. Almost put in the amount of money that was paid for it in repairs to the local small engine repair store. So, this year, I am determined to get this thing running myself. I am having trouble finding a video of the carburetor cleaning/repair of a similar model. I put in a new battery, fuel filter, oil filter, air filter, spark plugs, oil change, new ethanol-free gas, even pulled out a mummified mouse. From what I have read online, I figured the carburetor is next. It still won't start, even when I sprayed ether in the intake...Don't know where to go from here. Thanks for your help/advice.
Very good , thank you
At 3:37 Where could I get one of those adjustment screws? I was working on my tractor that has a 2010 B&S 12.5 Hp Power Built engine and I went to adjust that screw I broke it right off, I managed to get the old screw out but I can't find a new one.
nice work
Nice video , I was working on a similar engine today on a tractor that has been sitting for years, emptied the old gas out and still wouldn't start i will use your video as a guide to clean the carburetor, do you think it is all gummed up?
was just wondering . i changed my carb as directed and one question came to mind. when you put the two tubes back into the fuel tank , how much of the return tube should be inserted into tank? My tank was 1/2 full but the return tube didn' t reach down into the fuel. does it supposed to reach all the way down like the other tube does? I did notice that the primer didn't work well so I filled the tank up to full and noticed the primer worked much better and everything was fine afterwards . thanks for any comment you have on this .
how many turns out do you need to set the mixture screw
Is that type of carb not rebuildable? Is it not necessary to put some locktite on all the bolts you are putting back? Nice video!! Thanks for sharing your talent.
getting one soon
thanks dony another great video , hows progress with your shop construction going latley?
thanks man
