How to Replace your Broken Lens on an Insta360 ONE X

- The Insta360 One X is a great little 360° camera, but unfortunately, the lenses are vulnerable to being scratched of broken and you normally have to send the camera to Hong Kong for an expensive repair.
If you can obtain someone else's One X with a broken lens on the opposite side, then this video is for you. It explains and shows you the entire process of moving a good lens from one camera to another. One X cameras with one broken lens can often be found on eBay for around $75 (65 €) just make sure the lens you need has not been damaged.
For example, if your One X has a broken lens on the LED display side, look for a good lens on the opposite side. Note that you will likely see a difference in the color balance after transferring a lens to another camera. After calibration, this is still noticeable in the app preview, yet at least in my case, exported images and videos look fine.

Geat job. This is really impressive. I try to protect lens with protector from insta one. But those are made for X2. The optic is a little off.
Can the lens cover be replaced , because iv seen you can buy them separate ? Any help would be great
yes, possible. To remove the old lens ,I used heat gun .
I have a little pieace of wire inside that i got accidentally detatched, i was wondering where it should go 😭😭😭😭

Can you buy replacement lens if you don't have a donor camera?
So the only real solution is to replace both lenses to get a consistent colour on both sides? Or, what if you removed both lenses and used a premium lens guard?

I enjoyed your detailed video. My isnta camera stopped working after 30 minutes filming. When plug in charger a continuous red light flashing all the time. If I only put a battery and power on, nothing happens and does not boot or show the OLED or any light. Can you help. Thanks

You can either keep insisting insta360 send you one, or look on ebay, etc. for someone selling their broken camera where the opposite lens is broken. That is what I did and got the camera on the right for 50 Euros (about $42).

Thx for the walkthrue.. always wondered how the footage would look without the dome lens, as there is clearly a lens array underneath likely with the standard IR filter and all that jazz.
the unit with the dome lens all removed on one side.. how did the footage look on that side without the dome??
was it a sharp wide FOV you had, and simply not 360 aligned.??
The dome is the lens. No usable picture without it.

But where to find the replacement lenses. In EU I do not find them.
Look on eBay for people selling their broken camera. Make sure that the broken lens is the one that is good on your camera. Then you have two good lenses and can do the repair.
Question. Would you say that the individual lens modules are hermetically sealed internally? Is there any seal between the module and the lens? Thank you for this video.
I tried to separate the lens from the unit. It is glued in place and cannot be separated, intact.

Interesting, but would have been easier to of polished out the scratch on the lens using some cerium oxide and a Dremel polishing wheel.
