This is awesome. Just watched a similar video where a guy absolutely butchers his X2 opening it because he doesn't know it's held together with screws 🤣 Can you buy replacement lens if you don't have a donor camera?
I enjoyed your detailed video. My isnta camera stopped working after 30 minutes filming. When plug in charger a continuous red light flashing all the time. If I only put a battery and power on, nothing happens and does not boot or show the OLED or any light. Can you help. Thanks
You can either keep insisting insta360 send you one, or look on ebay, etc. for someone selling their broken camera where the opposite lens is broken. That is what I did and got the camera on the right for 50 Euros (about $42).
Thx for the walkthrue.. always wondered how the footage would look without the dome lens, as there is clearly a lens array underneath likely with the standard IR filter and all that jazz. the unit with the dome lens all removed on one side.. how did the footage look on that side without the dome?? was it a sharp wide FOV you had, and simply not 360 aligned.??
Question. Would you say that the individual lens modules are hermetically sealed internally? Is there any seal between the module and the lens? Thank you for this video.
Look on eBay for people selling their broken camera. Make sure that the broken lens is the one that is good on your camera. Then you have two good lenses and can do the repair.

yes, possible. To remove the old lens ,I used heat gun .
Geat job. This is really impressive. I try to protect lens with protector from insta one. But those are made for X2. The optic is a little off.

The dome is the lens. No usable picture without it.

I tried to separate the lens from the unit. It is glued in place and cannot be separated, intact.

Interesting, but would have been easier to of polished out the scratch on the lens using some cerium oxide and a Dremel polishing wheel.
