@@JustasG because that is what happens if you install the lens in an environment that doesn't have 0% air humidity or as close to 0% as possible. This is why most people have issues with lens covers fogging and then blame it on the lens, when in fact is their fault.
@@JustasG not really. Dry, hot saunas are not as dry as you might think. They still keep around 20-30% humidity. The driest air occurs when it's freezing cold outside, because all the moisture in the air freezes.

Just swapped both sides of mine, thank you for your video. It's one of the more informative videos. I appreciate you! Mine fell the same way, had it on a tripod and wind blew it over. Busted both lenses.
WARNING: I just replaced both lenses using the lenses linked in the description. They have several problems and do not preform anywhere close to original lenses. 2 lenses i bought even differ from each other (one is darker). There is significant lens blur and even picture distorsion (i can see the camera itself in the picture). I recommend video uploader to remove the link and suggest other to purchase lenses anywhere at their own risk. Anyways - thank you for the great video, it helped tremendously. I hope I will get my money back, get new lenses and everything will be okay in the end.
you may got a bad one. I bought the cheapest one from aliexpress and evey these lenses got bubbles inside at some point, the videos look great and i dont have any problems with them. paid 40USD for two.
Thanks for the upload - educational for sure. Your video is a clear display of how simple design changes by manufacturer could make this repair easy for any owner. They are 'action' devices - that implies wear and tear. This repair should be easier, by design.

update: just installed and tested when i put outer lens it looks great .. when i use inner lens it looks great. However, when i use 360 mode, you can see that there is a blue halo which clearly divides the original inner lens from the replaced outer lens. I am going to buy another lens from someone else. thank you for showing us how to replace the lens. did you have issues the 360 view?
Great video. Am I right that you could do it without disconnecting the front panel from the main camera ? (not disconnecting the wires and hence not have to deal with reconnecting them properly). But it would be more cumbersome..?
I bought a replacement lens off aliexpress and the lens had an orange hue off it and had a big lens flare/blob, I might try the amazon one. Did you notice any slight colour difference between the new and old lens?

best setting for not the scrach cmare lens so use only home i know you thing this is a action camera but you are wrong first day you can easly make a schrach and your camera useless because evry video take your scrach is there use protection or dont buy it they dont give new one or change the lens because you have to send hongkong and 120 dollars you have to wait so they dont care costemer or costemer come back buy new one they care only you wanna buy from them reset is history typical chines company

and then you will have issues with fogging and the camera will be almost unsable.

You can send it in, but the cost is $140 per broken lens. So if both are scratched up you can pay almost the price of the camera or try it yourself.

What about the waterproofing capability after fixing it - would you risk it upto 10m even after this fix ?

kinda. but if you propper glue the top cover on it will perform nearly as good as the original glue.
