Good job mate, I’ve got one lined up here in Victoria to look at for 650 bucks. According to eBay a new reel and bed Knife combo is 600……… Catchers are 280 re-fab out of galv-steel and you have to paint them ……
Mate pls tell us poor buggers who are trying to find these at a "fair price", where in the world you found one for $150? Im seeing some crazy prices right now!! Im close to thinking I should give up my search and desire to do a resto 😔😔

Thanks for a great video mate. Definitely my favourite mower, I've had 2. Had to spend money on both. Previous owner on one must have cut rock with it. Have you seen the money that people are asking for them? Someone here asking over $2000, no guarantee on condition. Great words of wisdom, people should heed your advice.
Great video. Im looking into getting one and I’m glad I found this, certainly helps a lot.. why are SB so popular and sought after? Is it because they are old? So for SB45 refurbished selling for 1k a good price ?

Hi Scott. A brand new superswift is $1700 or a new protea is like $2200 or there abouts. There are other options. All I'm saying is be careful about what your paying for 👍
@@thegreenandgoldlife1464 Hey mate, yeah I understand that, I'm just saying to find a decent second hand one of any brand the market is upwards of $900 for unless you have the extra to buy new which I don't at the moment, having said that it will probably cost me another $300 to get it up to operating spec but at least I know I want lose money on an SB where I would if I went new. Anyway let's hope it does the job👍
Love it mate! I actually just pulled the plug on one (model 450589) and seller reckons it runs ok but was honest and said it probably needs a tune. I'm seeing it today so hopefully the bed knife/reel is in decent nick. He wants 500 for it, good deal?
Cheers Mike. For me 500 is the top end and for 500 it should be running a treat and be in great condition all round. If not you are better off looking at a brand new Protia or something. Because if you need to replace iny of the major ticket items your approaching 1k

She’s a bewty… mower’s not bad either 😉 I didn’t even consider a Scotty B because the prices here are stupid. And they do still make ‘em, only they’re Protea now and from seth efrika. People are paying more for a full resto SB than the price of a new Protea with warranty 🤷🏻♂️ See what youtubers like you and Ben Sims and Brenton have done, you’ve started a cult 😉

@@thegreenandgoldlife1464 there’s good mowers that aren’t SB at sensible prices if you know what to look for. In my case it was a Rover Kensington, which is a rebranded Allett. Bushranger, Parklander and other rebrands of the Masport Olympic are often good buys. If I hadn’t found the Rover I would probably have one of them.
@@philrichmond5919 definitely. How is the cartridge system holding up? I think it's a great Idea but, seems flimsy on fist glance. Hopefully you can get some miles out of it. 👍
@@thegreenandgoldlife1464 yeh no problems. Nothing flimsy about it. Proven design over decades, well engineered. The thing I find people worry about is the nylon gears, but there’s only two of them, they’re durable, cheap enough and easy to replace. Compared to chain drive there’s much less maintenance. Dunno why the thought of plastic parts scares people, often they’re more durable than metal.
Wow. Your going to get blacklisted dude. Telling the truth about SB’s. The market is “hot” because of people having 20-30 of them in a shed. One guy calls them his “a retirement fund”. Hopefully common sense might kick in soon.
