I'm happy to see two of my guitar heroes on stage. For those a little unfamiliar with Slash, his mother, Ola was a costume designer for a lot of disco acts. Her most notable client was David Bowie. The Disco Queen Sylvester was also frequent guest at his early home, and actually gave him one of his first pets. I say all this to say, that this isn't a random occurance. This kind of music was deff. played in that house. Funk music is in this mans blood as much, (or a bit more) than rock and roll.
Guess what? Nile Rogers did play in a rock and roll trio. They were called "The Boys" and his other two bandmates were Bernard Edwards (Bass) and Tony Thompson. (Drummer) These three guys ultimately became core of Chic during their heyday. So I think Nile was correct in having Slash come on stage playing a wah washed solo over a funky groove. Well done everyone.
LOL the "strummer" was the frontman of chic, he worked with diana ross, bowie, madonna, the daft punk... He was imitated and sampled by a LOT of people... FYI, Slash is famous for his solos, Rodgers for his rhythm guitar, so dont try and compare them
He is not only humble and likes to work with artists from different genres, he is also respected and admired by artists from different genres, that is why everyone calls him to fill in all the time. Have a nice day.
Slash is an incredible guitarist ... However Nile Rodgers is a God in the music industry. They both have very different styles and it is impossible to compare them.
There is a dvd of James Brown performing in Vegas. The 2 guitarist is that band would make hash of Slash. Saw Mr. Rodgers at the Hollywood Bowl tonight...he's THE MAN!!!
You're right it's the amazing Fonzi Thornton singing with the CHIC Ladies Sylver Logan Sharp (red hair) & Jessica Wagner. In 1982 CHIC produced an unrealesed complete LP Frosbite for Fonzi. Hope it will be released one day.
He's actually pretty thoughtful about his technique. Remember he's a songwriter of massive hits and has produced some huge songs. He's not just a guitarist.
a les paul is a lot better than a stratocaster. i have both and there is noticeable differences like night and day. to me a fender strat is a light weight narrow necked beginners guitar whereas the paul is a guitar for the more experienced guitar players. a paul reed smith (mines an EG Custom) is as good as it gets, its a les paul on steroids.
And true, Nile Rodgers is great, I'm not going to start comparing Slash and Nile... no point, bot great players and exceptionally successful... and completely different.
This "other idiot" is Nile Rodgers and he's one of the funkiest songwriters and guitar players on the planet. Open your little box and you'll learn that there is some incredible music out there.
if you want to do rodgers' guitar, you need the clean guitar with a compresor, and for Slash's guitar you need a distortion with an Auto-wah. well, that's how i do it
DISCO-FUNK RULES THE BEST MUSICIANS ARE IN THE DISCO-FUNK CATEGORY AS WELL AS THE BEST VOCALIST. IT'S TIME FOR THIS MUSIC TO MAKE A STRONG COMEBACK!!!!!
Not sure what you mean? His image is a result of his guitar playing, people took notice of him because he was great player... on top of that he had a very distinct look... on top of that he's become a characterization of himself with all the alcohol and drugs he stuffed down his neck... but mainly he's rated for his playing. If it was just image he wouldn't be regarded in guitar magazines /circles worldwide or by fans for the past 25+ years.
i believe guitar players tend to feel changes in mood when there's changes in tone. The fact that he went from single-note soloing to more of a rhythmic feel tells me slash would've wanted a change in tone there. Yet the auto wah and fuzz remained. You can even see it on his face and body language that he wanted a tone change. But there was no change and he was forced to make do
Hahaha, Nathan congratulations on winning youtubes award for the least educated comment of the decade!! Nile Rogers is a superb guitarist, both as a funkster, lead player, classical player, jazz player, ...... Also, one of the greatest producers the planet has ever seen. Every artist he has produced has had their best selling album with Nile, including Bowie and Madonna.
slash solo was like wahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwah...............
really Nathan????? I would imagine that if you asked Slash about Nile's ability as a player/songwriter/producer using that comment, he would laugh you out of the room. Do some research, find out who Nile Rodgers IS and the contribution he has made to modern music, then see if you feel the same way.....
This is one of the main reason's why I love slash. He likes to work with artists from different genres and not in a controlling way. He's so humble.
I'm happy to see two of my guitar heroes on stage. For those a little unfamiliar with Slash, his mother, Ola was a costume designer for a lot of disco acts. Her most notable client was David Bowie. Is this the first time I've not seen Nile play his strat???? Still sounds funky as hell tho!
Nile playing an LP! sounds cool.
Killed it. Once he puts the guitar on his leg you know shit is about to go down.
I LOVe It when he does that! ❤❤❤
Nile Rodgers sounds great on anything!!! No matter what he play on.
daam, the rhythm guitar makes the song. one of the best rhythm guitarist I've ever heard
Slash: Would you like some wah with that?
Nile: Did I fucking ask for-
Slash: *Pours wah all over the song like ketchup over chips*
yeah , he ruined the song with that fuckin sound
Neil rodgers is an awesome guitar player!!!!!!
He is not only humble and likes to work with artists from different genres, he is also respected and admired by artists from different genres, that is why everyone calls him to fill in all the time.

Nile is a Legend
Slash plays Funk!! Wow!
You can't hear it in his playing? He does some funky double stops and of course he wrote Always On The Run.
Holy hell that was amazing.

Slash is an incredible guitarist ... However Nile Rodgers is a God in the music industry. They both have very different styles and it is impossible to compare them.

SLASH IS THE MAN !
People forget how much "SOUL" is in slash 💯...
You're right it's the amazing Fonzi Thornton singing with the CHIC Ladies Sylver Logan Sharp (red hair) & Jessica Wagner. In 1982 CHIC produced an unrealesed complete LP Frosbite for Fonzi. Hope it will be released one day.
Impressionnant !
Nice to see slash.
Nile = the original funk master
J'adore quand toutes les musiques et les styles se mêlent... Slash jouant du funk !!!
the Slash video from 1992 playing this...is so much better.... like SO much better..wow
He's actually pretty thoughtful about his technique. Remember he's a songwriter of massive hits and has produced some huge songs. He's not just a guitarist.
HOLY-Nile's playing a Les Paul!
Let me share.
Yeah! Backing track...
@minxel16 how do you always find where I've commented on youtube????
in the other vid the lead singer lays against slash as he plays.
great..
Nile's the funkiest guitarist ever but that Les Paul just aint funky like his old Strat!
a les paul is a lot better than a stratocaster. i have both and there is noticeable differences like night and day. to me a fender strat is a light weight narrow necked beginners guitar whereas the paul is a guitar for the more experienced guitar players. a paul reed smith (mines an EG Custom) is as good as it gets, its a les paul on steroids.
...yes, it's unusual for him but but it sounds fucking great!
And true, Nile Rodgers is great, I'm not going to start comparing Slash and Nile... no point, bot great players and exceptionally successful... and completely different.
may the groove be with you
Give it up for Slash! ... "Yay."
Slash!!!!
Work that pentatonic in first position Slash! Work that shit!
Nile Rogers is a genius.
is Abe, Jr. drumming?
How come his les paul sounds like single coil?
Yeh great !
This is pretty rare good :D
he played with them in japan and a few other times i think, oncw with Eric Benet
well, wah, it's my fav effect, that & delay ;)
Fuck, it's awesome, kick ass, grezt performance, groove like always...
The 1996 concert he played this at was SOOOOOO MUCH BETTER....
Una leyenda llamada Nile Rodgers un un guitarrista construido desde la mercadotecnia...

This "other idiot" is Nile Rodgers and he's one of the funkiest songwriters and guitar players on the planet. Open your little box and you'll learn that there is some incredible music out there.
Even Slash likes to FREAK... awesome!
Here closes the circle ;-)
What guitar effect (pedal) shoud I use for this song?
if you want to do rodgers' guitar, you need the clean guitar with a compresor, and for Slash's guitar you need a distortion with an Auto-wah. well, that's how i do it
Just compresor?
Tan Gerine Although I love GNR... I hate Slash playing. He is so bad and so overrated. Thanks for help me with that Nile Rodgers info.
DISCO-FUNK RULES
THE BEST MUSICIANS ARE IN THE DISCO-FUNK CATEGORY AS WELL AS THE BEST VOCALIST.

fucking imba solo!!! great work slash!!
Not sure what you mean? If it was just image he wouldn't be regarded in guitar magazines /circles worldwide or by fans for the past 25+ years.
... to be the drummer in this band, my dream ....
and the strato ?
there are 2 vids of this. slash did lay back on this one. the other vids has the ladies dressed diferently and slash did his nasty thing
Slash proomting his signature LP Standard. Looks every bit like mine. I mean mine looks every bit like His.
On a Les Paul Custom, and not the hitmaker Strat - why? Maybe because of Slash always plays Les Pauls, i dunno..
Looks like Slash and Nile Rodgers still has a lot of bills to pay....
@Balue280 i agree!
yeah, but keep in mind that building and maintaining an image is hard work too
Giggin on the guitar!?
i believe guitar players tend to feel changes in mood when there's changes in tone. You can even see it on his face and body language that he wanted a tone change. But there was no change and he was forced to make do
Hmm, is it me, or ... where did Slash think he was, on a metal festival stage? I really don't think this solo has much to do with the song...
Fonzie Thornton on vox!
why there was a slash wawawawa
Hahaha, Nathan congratulations on winning youtubes award for the least educated comment of the decade!!

If you can't appreciate awesome rhythm guitar as well as lead that is a shame. There is some awesome music going on here.
Show
"AaaAA-fri-ca!" Is all I hear now..
"Other idiot" - that's Nile Rodgers.
Probably just as rich as Slash. Wrote and produced some of the biggest songs of the 1970s and 1980s
lol. You call NR an idiot, that man is a music genius lol
nice voicing
I like the bassline more than what Slash is attempting here..
slash solo was like wahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwah...............

come your kidding Slash Playing Funk Chic you didnt need him come on~~
Slash is a good guitarist but would he be as rated if he didn't have such a strong image?
