Soldier Boy may have been a bigoted bully, but damn if he wasn't one hell of a soldier. He had pretty strong reasons to betray Butcher, but kept his feelings aside to complete the mission he promised to. That is, despite everything else he is, honourable. Imagine my absolute rage at The Boys fighting HIM instead of the much obvious bigger threat, Homelander. Butcher could've just said "I'll get Ryan out of here, you just finish your mission" but nope
Yeah, no, I don't care about Soldier Boy being betrayed by Butcher or his teammates. Honorable or not, I have no respect for bigots like him after what he did to the folks in Birmingham with that fire hose.
@@dwnkaomwn3953 but now how many more people are gonna die because they let Homelander walk? He should've been dealt with first, given he was the less stable, and more dangerous
@@AidantheLegend Honourable? lmao, he has murdered many innocent people and destroyed several families. There are reasons why nobody wanted him around anymore. You're just making excuses because you find him "cool"
@@AidantheLegend I don't think that would've mattered in the end anyway. Soldier Boy was also unstable due to his power of depowering Supes(despite his lack of control over it)and he and Butcher weren't above killing innocent people who stood in the way of their goals like killing Homelander. Even if they accomplished that mission, what then? What would've stopped Butcher, for example, from making another deal with Soldier Boy to kill every other Supe out in the world? The bloodshed would never stop. I do agree that Butcher should've dealt with Homelander and been done with it, but his promise to Becca to keep Ryan safe was always going to triumph any other promises/deals made by other parties. He's done it before like when he reneged on his deal with Stan Edgar last season that involved Ryan.
@@dwnkaomwn3953imagine you are stuck in car with someone whom you choose to be your partner soilder boy or homelander…no doubt everyone will choose sb he is not that dangerous…
Homelander was also clearly holding back, and he was emotionally distracted by what his grandfather just said and tried to kill him and his son. He underestimated her strength.
22:39 - considering that Compound V was not as good as it is today, in Soldier Boy's time it had more lethal effects and not everyone who took it was a success. So Soldier Boy didn't actually take a shortcut. He took the risk and succeeded. But his father really didn't want his son to succeed, because he was sh.t father.
The writter’s of this show could have done more with Balck Noir rather than just killing him off one episode after showing us his tragic backstory with Soldier Boy. I know that Black Noir wasnt really that much of a good person but still , i really found him as a sympathetic character , and beside’s all of those thing’s he did , he only did him to Vought’s order’s , he didnt do them for fun. Bad guy or good guy , Noir was still pretty tragic , and he wasnt never as bad as Homelander , Stormfront , etc.
They could've done a lot better to be honest. Both Hughie and Kimiko want V for the same reasons but when it's hughie giving his reasons he's portrayed as this "toxic masculinity power hungry fantasist" and insecure and wrong for wanting to have the power to stand up to a super bully who's threatening to kill everyone he loves. Yet when it comes to Kimiko for the exact same reasons to the exact same person who scolded Hughie suddenly it's this "act of love and compassion". I don't think either of their reasons are wrong and it would've been more interesting to make both Hughie and Butcher permanent supes to make their decision all the more heavier and have greater consequences rather than create a cheap cop out "temp V" so they can have their cake and eat it.
@@mkazaa Yeah, that one always irked me. Like if they were going for Hughie's insecurities making his decision to take temp V an unwise choice in the way it was framed I think it would have been much more interesting to explore what it'd be like for someone who thought of their power as a curse (Kimiko) suddenly have to deal with these crazy situations without powers for the long run, at least that way they could have explored both sides of the argument. They really undercut both those narratives with their choices.
I completely disagree! Noir had a complete character arc, filled with tragedy, that was a valuable lesson about staying loyal to toxic and horrible people who do (and force you to do) toxic and horrible things to remain in their circle! Noir is a perfect encapsulation of why Starlight and Maeve were right to betray and leave Vought and The Seven!
@@mkazaa I really don't understand why they had to give Butcher and Hughie Temp V. Like Starlight got the permanent stuff for Kimiko, so why not Butcher as well? I do kinda have to disagree with you on the Hughie Kimiko V thing. Because the difference it makes for me is that Kimiko already was a supe and she hated herself for it because she was FORCED to be a supe. Hughie chose to have powers but he kinda lost himself along the way. Not entirely ofc but he got that "high" that comes with other drugs as well. V, essentially, was a drug for him because it makes him feel stronger than others. Kimiko had her own reasons to get it back. She loved the "human" feeling of not having powers, but her powers were not the problem. I think both of them had to realize their own strengths and not change themselves for whatever reasons. Hughie is not *weak* at all, especially considering everything he had been through, and I feel like that kinda symbolizes his lack of need for the drug that is V
Perfect reaction! My man Soldier Boy took season 3 so easy he made this season the best, and i can't wait for his return...This dude have how many screan time 10 or 15 min? But he was best part!
What makes Soldier Boy better than Homelander is that he doesn't have wider ambition. Coming into a modern world after decades being frozen, he would have just laid low, getting high, drinking, and fucking his days aways. Easily managed by Vought or the CIA. Had Butcher let him finish Homelander, their world would have been better off.
I don't think it's "beta" to protect your stepson as he's innocent unlike Homelander but it's ridiculous that he never put Ryan before the mission, he waited until he retaliated and SB hit him.
13:03 She got you good, Homelander. Great move, Annie. 13:23 lol hahahahahahaha!!!!!! Queen Maeve was a real one through and through. We’ll miss her in the show, but I’m glad she’s alive and doing better now that she’s no longer burdened with Vought and The Seven. *Spoiler ahead for season 4* Maeve didn’t return, but with the way the season ended she might have to. One of my theories is that Annie must’ve gone to find her to bring her back into the fold. Granted this has to be Maeve’s decision, but knowing enough about her I doubt she’ll be able to just stand by and let Homelander get away with everything. If she does agree, she’ll need her powers back and these days Compound V has gotten harder to acquire. The fifth and final season is slated for 2026. Until then, we have Gen V season 2 next year. We’re also getting The Boys: Mexico and a prequel spinoff with Soldier Boy and Stormfront.

Homelander could walk out in the middle of fifth avenue and laser someone and not lose supporters lol. very clear symbolism.
trump would clearly lose a lot of supporters if he would shoot someone for no reason
I can't believe Trump said that to this day lmao
I just recently learned Hugie (Jack Quaid) is the son of Dennis Quaid and Meg Ryan. Also that Hugie is dating Victoria Neuman in real life 🤯
That final fight was so good, maeve finally giving homelander a decent fight was satisfying af.

Guess who's back as a main character for the next season
I never understood why MM's ex wife got mad at him for punching that dude. Shit he was saying he deserved more than just the one.
The ending with the kid is like a sheltered kid playing mortal kombat for the first time but in real life...
