- Melissa Clark is in the studio kitchen showing us how to make shrimp scampi, an Italian American dish that brings Italian cooking techniques together with American ingredients. It’s a classic recipe that pairs shrimp with a simple sauce of garlic, white wine and butter, which goes well with a pile of pasta or with a hunk of crusty bread.

I love that she explained all the “obvious” stuff. That’s truly not obvious to someone who doesn’t know how to cook. Most people go way too fast for me to learn, even though I truly want to learn. Thank you for explaining that red pepper and black taste different. And, also - how to know when the shrimp is done. Loved this.
Best shrimp scampi recipe!! The perfect portions of garlic, wine, and every ingredient
I think you’re right, and I don’t think anyone could’ve made this better recipe better than you. Delightful!
The perfect recipe
Great, quick and easy recipe; thanks for dipping the bread in the mixture...yum

Thanks for the clarification on the shrimp scampi recipe name:as Italian I heard of that all the time and I finally get that what I call scampi are not shrimp scampi in American 🤣 shrimp scampi are actually just shrimp!

Cut out the membrane of a lemon makes the juice flow!
Yes & Yes Melissa Clark!
Cook shells in wine before starting making this one. Adds a lot more flavor.
Thank you for a short video
Shimp scampi in Italy is called “Mazzancolle”
this would tear on top of some cheesy polenta whew
✨💯✨
I'd like to know what kind of wine other than "white."
can someone please post recipe?
She adds the spices to the fat, like I do!
Anyone else ever make this dish and the it turns a very off blue or green colour after introducing the garlic and lemon? =(
Add the lemon last after the heat is off
Can anyone write the recipe since it’s behind a paywall?
Please devein the shrimp prior to cooking.
Why leave the tails on? This is a pet peeve of mine when restaurants do this. Pain in the ass to remove with a knife and fork, and a choking hazard.
I hear ya, but the shells give so much flavor to the sauce. Just remove them before serving.
I'm the only person in America that cooks shrimp _shell on._
nope. I also devein mine before cooking. NYT doesn't.
I mostly keep shell on though I do devein them. If they’re small I’ll eat the tail too.

Does anyone actually ever sit back & wonder what the difference btwn minced & sliced garlic is?
Minced is paste and the strongest form. Chopped is chunky. Sliced is weakest flavor and great for subtle hint..that's how I look at it 🤷🏽♀️
Hmmm, not deveined?
It says "peeled and deveined shrimp" in the video
@@tealwombat The shrimp in the video are clearly not deveined.
If you eat hotdogs, you have nothing to worry about with the vein. Ha.
@@cozfpv591 get a life
the shrimp weren't deviened so enjoy eating crap
